    Slowly losing

divagirl78 hey there congrats on losing 23 lbs!!!! your weight loss is right on target many people (me, me,me) didn't know what to expect post surgery, how much, how quickly they would lose weight. that being said, don't compare yourself to any other sleever, their weight progression/loss/time period all results are different, individual and fine for you - remember the old saying "all good things come to those who wait" or is it weight????" in my case, as in many, i didn't go to bed one friday night, and wake up monday morning 100 lbs overweight!!!! so....in the same respect you aren't gonna lose the weight overnight in your "dreams" maybe if your concerned about your caloric intake, check it out with NUT - thats what they are there for!!! keep up the good work your doing great!!!

    Would do it again tomorrow......

ttgalasea IMO it is necessary/adviceable - to stop smoking forever, "I believe", this must be very hard to do, but it shows your determination/strength you have one hard step you made towards improving your health sleeve right there to continue your health and happiness changes Proving that you can stand tall and do this (stop smoking) is showing how determined you are about your WL, and changes must be made - KUDOS surprised that your dr had no problem with you quitting day before WLS ?? thought it would have been earlier - but, like we all say, docs are all different so nice to read a "just saying hi i'm doing great post WLS we are supposed to come here for support, help, questions, reassurance, all that good stuff the board supplies - people even talk about "not" hearing the "good stuff" thanx for starting the day off for me with a smile so happy for you -congrats take care

    Too good to be true?

ready4it hi there, i can only imagine what a hard time you have been going through with you pending WLS - frustrating to hear one thing then a change, then.............hopefully this time will do it all the waiting, and "annoyances" will be worth it - you'll find that out having the sleeve has changed my life - my health and happiness after 20 years, no more diabetes meds/insulin - no more blood pressure meds, no more CPAP you'll gradually see the many benefits of WLS - hopefully this time will do it, i think 3rd time is a charm!!!!! How about saying "a charmed life?" Here's to a brand new happy new year - starting DOS 1/10/13 - first day of the rest of your life good luck
  5. rainbows holy moly girlfriend - you are a quarter of a century "young" today - OMG IMO you don't look a day over 24 getting so exciting as time gets closer and closer to WLS - gotta hang in there another 3 weeks it might be a "little" rough over the holidays, stupid fractured toe , family food all that stuff - but remember why you are doing this, you will be so happy you will find yourself in a better place - healthier, happier - which will make "kid time" even better take care bud see you before surgery, so to speak!!!

    Pcp?

fletcherette i approached my PCP a couple of years ago and asked his opinion of me having WLS. i was pleasantly shocked and amazed that he approved so quickly he was happy for me and immediately we spoke about the health benefits reaction from PCP might be different since WLS will be in Mexico IMO - you should tell PCP you we be having WLS in Mexico - give the guy a chance - he might be all for it, then you can share thoughts together concerning the surgery - then you could discuss your aftercare if you chose not to tell him - i kindof think doctor might not appreciate you not being upfront with him - telling him "you weren't sure what his reaction would be" a statement like that - might not be appreciated by dr home from mexico - you need to see him ( dr) and say "oh by the way i just returned from Mexico for WLS) IMO that doesn't come off well if your dr is against treating treating/helping you PO - which i think is his right, just as its your right not to go to a certain dr. you should know his thoughts ahead of time before WLS - you can find another PCP, telling (new prospective dr) about your upcoming WLS - and need to make sure he will "watch over" you help needed PO Don't let present PCP intimidate you!!!! DOS 3/4/13 good luck speedy recovery

dadobuns i don't hear as well as i used to .................. OMG - what did you say, grazing is ok as long as you're not eating a bunch of junk??? dadobuns congrats on losing 40 lbs best of luck to you - i would research grazing - it is not good for you trainee - not good to resort to old habits - eating this and that, when you want periodically drinking more Water - big congrats never said sleeve was gonna be easy, it does get better/easier in time all newbies et al - search and read the boards constantly for advice

    It's A Circus!

Lilcobby gotta love people that say that kind of stuff!!!! many people think - "oh its just so easy to take the weight off, keep it off etc. - exercise - the lady at that stress place was very unprofessional saying that to you! she is not stupid - she said something that was stupid, there is a difference, but in her case............. some people might think - whats your problem, no self-control, can't help but regain??? i think most/all the people that have WLS have been on the roller coaster, up then down, sick of the ride - being physically sick - unhealthy, diabetes et al-can't keep the weight off - getting "desperate, health reason" that's my story - for probably everyone else - just don't want to speak for others - even though what i said is PROBABLY true for all (I think!!!) it is a bummer that you've had to take time off from work for these appointments, but it will be worth it in the long run. look out below!! - positive re-inforcements on the way as far as the CPAP - hopefully the sleep apnea is one of many co-morbities that you will get rid of - no more sleep apnea, diabetes/insulin meds - and NO more CPAP - hopefully all were eliminated pretty quickly after WLS per surgeon with the "help" of the sleeve - and the hard work and rules you must and will follow (for the rest of your life) you can and will lose the weight, getting healthier - and the benefit of looking better too - i'll take it!!! follow the requirements concerning your daily routine about amount of Water you must drink - watching carbs, Protein, calories - small portions - these things might seem alittle difficult at the beginning - but its worth doing for your mental and physical health and happiness -these are the "positive" benefits i hope you get your ins. approved and a DOS sooner than later!! stay strong and positive - good will start to happen, it might be slow but........... take care good luck

All Alone On My Big Day

bbbslady i've heard that you "can" allow yourself a "cry period" of 5 minutes daily - thats it!!!! a few tears can be therapeudic but wipe your pretty eyes with some kleenex back to immediate issue of taking care of yourself, losing weight which more importantly will alleviate so many of your health problems but....i can see the strength in your eyes admitting you have a problem of weight is 1/2 the battle - how smart are you!!!! your road is starting a little bumpy with the absense of support from family you know how important WLS is to help your journey to health and happiness- thats why you made the big hard decision to have WLS - you are so smart!!!! your hard work will be slowly but surely rewarded, and you will enter the wonderful world of Sleeveland - where health and happiness are waiting for you ask all your questions here, hopefully you have a NUT too - and you can also confide in your surgeon maybe you have a friend of two that you can share your situation with, and reach out for help - no time for pride to prevent you from asking for help try and get plenty of rest, relax - drink as much as you can - slowly - immediately after surgery, and following days - liquids/water are the most important thing to concentrate on Protein will come with your Protein shakes at first, but don't worry or rush it if they can't stay down you just had major surgery - its be nice to your tummy week, or two btw - can you feel me squeezing your hand with healing thoughts HUGGS take care of yourself speedy recovery good wishes being sent your way

    1 Day Post Op

Scutles happy you are doing so well, nothing wrong with being tired after WLS many people are tired after MAJOR surgery might take a week, 2 weeks et al to get your strength back - all of us react differently your physical & mental well being should gradually improve rest up per "MY STORY" you have 4 kids - age 10-14 - ooops i mean you have 3 kids plus one DH common on guys, attempt to show my silly sense of humor - no offense intended, ok ??? -still friends, ok kids aren't TOO young anymore 10-14, hubby can/will help you by helping/taking care of the kids - what a guy, he's a keeper!!!! Scuties - give yourself "permission" to take it slow and easy you'll need all your strength/ energy as you start and continue this wonderful journey into sleeveland with improved health and happiness for the rest of your longer life!!! take care speedy recovery
  14. NurseMom WELCOME -i see you just "hopped" on the sleeve board 11/26 good thought getting a head start - coming to this board before WLS, ask your questions and you'll be more prepared for WLS I agree that your supervisor/work has no right to ask you what kindof surgery - HIPPA since work does need to get coverage for your job - you telling supervisor a couple of months prior to WLS is out of "courtesy" but also necessaty, (msp) so employer isn't left holding the bag - then maybe give you the bag/ door since you are telling about surgery too late as far as telling co-workers/anyone about WLS - only do it when you feel its right for you. you don't have to tell aquaintances et al months ahead of time if you don't feel right about doing so after surgery, yes you will be losing the weight, you might chose to tell them you had WLS constant discussion of what sleevers should tell other people - you could point blank say you are having or had WLS - or stay mum til you are comfortable - then you can say you had the surgery - or you've been exercising, watching what and how much you eat -all these are true statements it is nobodies business........but questions my come up again, this is an ongoing discussion with many different responses - each one of the answers is "correct", because its all up to the individual btw spring is the best time to have WLS unless you are scheduled for winter, or fall, or summer, whenever you have WLS - is the best time to start your new life happy WLS good luck speedy recovery

    Constant Grazing...is It A Problem?

WLTrainee Hi trainee! Aka NEWBIE Welcome to Sleeveland 22 lbs in less that a month - good for you bud Grazing is a "huge" problem - but you are a a sleever in training, NEWBIE, - but things will come together. pre-wls - you/I ate during the day, ate this or that constantly - my stomach was big enough, no problem - to eat whenever your tummy is now 85% smaller than it used to be. if you eat between meals like it sounds like you are doing (grazing) your tummy can't hold that much food. I/we had this WLS as a desperate measure - wanting to help control our eating - but if you eat between meals, in my case that was kindof like eating all day - that is a "no no" post WLS if you eat a few bites more than your tummy likes - it might discipline you by getting sick, or hot - just not feeling well per your NUT - eat 6 small meals a day - if you think you are hungry?? could be head hunger, you don't want to resort to bad old habits you don't want to do that anymore - your tummy can't handle it, and you shouldn't do it (graze) thats how you gain weight too eating chocolate 3 times at week at one month out, i don't think so.......I understand its not often, but at this early time you shouldn't have) after awhile you can eat "alittle" chocolate, just like you can eat anything else - but small portions, and you have to count in your calories total repeating don't graze ever - even though it might be healthy choices, its too much for your tummy, and its a habit we "used" to do in the "old days" - that "helped" putting us in this "overweight" situation!!! per your post you are getting very few calories in?? eating periodically during the day is not a good habit little tough love never hurt anyone, did it??? still friends good luck

How Long After Surgery Did You Wake Up?

Lucky8mb1 "how long after surgery did you wake up?" holy moly girlfriend - i'm still not awake sorry kiddo, couldn't resist!!! my surgery lasted about 90 minutes was in room after a couple of hours in recovery very groggy for a few hours, slept, did get up to walk - very important, helps get rid of gas you possibly/probably might have. i see you have WLS on 12/10/12 - only about one week to go!!!! I know your nervous, scared, all normal feelings - its ok, but............. take it slow after WLS - you have gone through major tummy surgery - be calm, rest, things will gradually happen and get better you will start to drink more and more, and continue/start your long wonderful journey into sleeveland everyone reacts to anesthesia differently (you'll learn all sleevers act differently to weight loss, time period to weight amount and lots of other things the one thing we all have in common is that we are all different after WLS you will be starting your brand new life of health and happiness btw - you had a c-section, had some pain - look at the great life time results you have - you'll get those wonderful results with the sleeve too as long as you follow the sleeve 101 handbook also, i see you have diabetes, many people get rid of or improve their diabetes status - wish you the best with that since WLS 12/15/11 no more diabetes meds/insulin for me (high blood pressure and CPAP gone too) WooHoo good luck with WLS speedy recovery see you around the block

    It Just Hit Me..

PoohSoup0803 your nerves are acting up, totally normal and understandable - this is a big deal - you will be starting a new life journey into sleeveland - where "most" people are created = - and are on the successful road to health, happiness "elective" surgery - this is HUGE - cutting your tummy up this is major surgery if i ever heard unfortunately, it isn't treated that way by many many insurance companies still don't cover - and many many "normal" people still don't understand the importance behind the WLS (health benefits et al) the story, "taking the easy way out" vanity reasons losing the weight glad you are not having 2nd thoughts, more and more excited as time goes by good for you congrats 12/8/2012 6 days to WLS - count down happy surgery speedy recovery
  21. connie3 i can't imagine/understand why a professional would tell you such a thing , especially since you are in a "fragile" state, worrying about everything being so early out of WLS i agree with Lorraine - that people who fail - aren't watching what they eat, calories, grazing all that stuff that we know we should not do (WLS or not) I heard this once - on a MASH episode!!!!! People don't plan to fail - they fail to plan saw the nurse the other week, she told me how well i was doing - but in a few more sentences - she mentioned how many people go back to their old ways in a couple of years and gain back their weight!!!! I looked at her and said "why would you say that to me??? i've had this WLS, am doing great, and now you tell me that many people gain their weight back???" i don't need to hear that!!! she could tell i was "slightly" upset with her comment, kindof apologized - end of story - i just couldn't believe she said that to me sure, i know there are people that this happens too - start eating to much - ignoring all they learned - but hopefully they are far and few between this isn't a regular diet, where we've lost a lot of weight, stayed "clean" for a bit then said the heck with it!!! we went through MAJOR surgery - stomachs cut up - OMG - we were pretty desperate to do such a thing!!!- but it was necessary for our health and well being after all that, and yes some people might regain - keep doing what you know you must - and you will keep this weight off btw you are NOT stupid - you might have said a stupid thing but there is a difference i think i came off a little power rant - oooooooooops don't worry now, there will be plenty of time for that later good luck connie

    Bit-Sized Portions Perfect For Sleevers

sleevediva those portions are sooo small - too cute loved the one showing the "alledged" sandwich!! i cut my one portion to a gazillion pieces too - only way to fly
  23. MoonSiren giving yourself the jump start by doing the liquids is a step in the right direction you know the drill - Protein, Water, small portions, watch the carbs you (we) need to stay strong, stick to what we are supposed to on plan for the rest of our longer healthier, happier life that being said......i know you can get back on the right track - the fact that you are here now, shows that you want to get back on the road, working with the sleeve to help lose weight you are most definitely NOT A FAILURE - you slipped up, goofed up abit - but you are back - stand tall!!! for me, reading the boards doing MFP, helps keep me accountable - keeps me on the straight and narrow Get back to business - this takes some work - but we all knew that coming in to the sleeve good luck bud only look ahead
