  4. ~ Too tight after 4 years of being banded ~ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am setting the date for my band removal finally....I wanted to keep my baby...but it has been too tight from day one. I was never able to get a fill in and I have suffered for far too long with pb'ing & a burning chest all 4 years. (My original doc would never listen to me...so I gave up going to him & learned to deal with it all!) My original doc moved so I am free to go to other docs for opinions....seeing I have bad ulcers all the way up & down my esophagus (I am not perforated nor have I strectched my pouch at all after all these years..I have been a good girl!!) one says I should have it removed period...the other said I could have it replaced.... I could go for another band....but...I feel that if I have it out...it will allow my esophagus to heal at a more progressive rate?? this is my dilemma... Is there anyone out there that has had this same experience and/or care to give me their thoughts and ideas? Thanks! Dawn

    Lap Band Removal

Thanks all for the replies & the love ) I am not able to get another band seeing that area is in such bad shape.....& as I started this journey I knew that gastric bypass was not an option...so no I will not be getting any back up tools at this point. I have lost alittle over a hundred pounds...it was a good tool while I went through a divorce and I lost weight rather than balloned even more. I still have 80 more pounds to lose....one day at a time...the band did teach me how to eat properly, even though I fought to eat period with pain at all times. I am in a happy place in my life and do not see gaining weight as an option...although I am going to address all the issues more in depth once I get the band removed as I had the band to do that for me for so long. (I should have addressed why I ate so much during my band journey...yet.. I was fighting just trying to eat enough and or keeping the food down for long...{I pb'd daily many times a day...played major head games with me!}) I am going to see a doctor in a couple hours as a second opinion....I have surgery scheduled for May 18th...but would prefer this doc to do the surgery...so that date may change. Best of luck to all of you who are on the journey...the band is a great tool...I surely will miss mine!

    Lap Band Removal

After 4 plus years I have to say good bye to my band. I was never able to get a fill as it was too tight of a band placed in me as it was from the beginning. I thought I was blessed because it was too tight....actually....it has caused a lot of esphogal problems with major ulcers and I am sick n' tired of pb'ing all the time....& the doc said I will get cancer in my esphogas if I do not get it removed.... So I say good bye to the band this month.....and hello to a whole new life free of pain...yet....I will miss my little buddy! Anyone else been here before...can relate?

I have had 20 years too many with them and their son....no hate, but life is too short for such ignorance and coldness! I have a long road ahead of me in many areas.....and I look forward to the journey and where it will lead! Dawn
  10. Hey peeks~!! I am sorry to hear that you are struggling! I am new to this board, but I know I have heard of folks being banded after RNY......go to www.spotlighthealth.com and go to the lap band board there, I know there are a couple of folks there that were banded after previous wls. Best of luck to you!! Dawn

So true what you said Alexandra....they care if they say something....now...in my situation, My In laws ( athough they are better classified as out laws to me!) found out from my sister in laws boyfriend who invited me to stay at his beautiful home for all my appointments in Chicago...Vince and I had many heart to heart talks and I felt safe telling him. I talked to him about the insensitivity of my husbands family (his girl friend is my husbands sister) and how they have been just God awful to me about gaing weight and I did not want them to know.....In fact this is how I am greeted (even though I do not see them anymore than I have to which is not too much!) well they say...holy cow have you gotten FAT! You look terrible and so on and so forth.....no hello no how are you...just go spear the whale.....they are very ignorant people....so I do not let then bother me too much but when I was down already on myself they did not help me feel any better I tell you, even though I knew the source from where it was coming it still hurt cuz I was hurting!Well NOT ONE said anything to me at all (not yet even!! LOL).....not one fricken word.....actually pissed me off they couldn't even say how are you? or good luck or anything....but I know they never cared in 20 years and they never will...they are all cold, selfish people the whole family ( yes including my husband, and that is another long story !) but you hit the nail on the head when you said that about them caring for you if they wish you luck or offer some warmth other than silence or resistence;) !! I know that Vince was telling them because he really cared and wholeheartily wanted them to care....but he has not been around enough (actually they act so cool for him because he has a lot of money...sickening! I was very wealthy growing up and nothing makes more sick is plastic people!) he hasn't seen how they have treated me....or he hasn't seen their true colors....He is so nice and I tried to tell him to run from my sis in law and in laws and find a woman that could truly love him and not be cold and selfish....but her beauty is blinding.....but in the end I see misery and I like him too much! Oh well Enough rambling.....just felt soo good to get this off my chest:D Dawn

    Hey all~!!!!

Hi Alexandra Yes, I am not the norm when it comes to restriction right off the bat...it is a blessing and it was a curse as well....could never eat or even drink anything!! Talk about learning how NOT to eat by force....was an experience for sure...but glad that it gave me a kick start! Hmmmm...let's see, I am very weird about my starting weight...don't ask me why!! Ughhhh but I started in the 300's and am now under 300 and in the 200's.....how's that??? I had a lot to lose....and a huge reason I also lost soo fast is that I was extremely active at all times, I organized, I stained a deck, I was digging and breaking my butt to keep my mind off of not being able to eat....kid you not! All the while I was watching 5 6-10 year old girls who kept me swimming, jumping on the trampoline and waiting on them...so I was a movin' it!' Are you banded yet???? I just wrote to my Lap Band Doctor's nutrition gal. (she was fishing for input) I wanted her to stress in her clinic that restriction is key...and they need to stress that post surgery is for healing and that weight loss will come in time as well as restriction with fills....yes one needs to eat better and make good choices, but let's face it...it is the restriction that will "really" help with the weight loss and makes it easier to pass on food, that is what we were banded for!.....I could have NEVER lost all this weight without restriction on my own....so yes it is key! Ok....enuf rambling....nice to meet you and you have every right to be excited...just look at ALL these awesome bandsters...the weight is coming off! Dawn
