    February Bandsters?

I was already in a zumba class once a week, before surgery 2/29, but I am thinking that, because of all the twisting, it may not be something my doc will want me to do right away. My instructions say to start out with things like walking, swimming or bike riding. I guess it gives that area plenty of healing time by not stressing that area. May be different for some others with their doc orders. Anyone feel free to add me to your friend list also. :0) I am mostly using this site on my android so haven't seen where I have the option to add. I think it would be great to have a monthy titled thread started for Feb 2012 bandsters so we can follow all the way through and actually be able to go right to that months thread for info, chat, feedback.

    Lean Cuisines???

I know they will sure be a staple for me once I am back to normal foods. I have eaten them for years and do quite well with weight loss. I follow Weight Watchers and they are sure a huge help for me in so many ways: time, portion control, getting a veggie and protein in. I don't usually have them 3 times a day, mind you, but sometimes one, sometimes two. And sometimes none.
  4. I was banded on 02/29 and I am still dealing with shoulder pain. Sometimes quite excruciating! I have found that when I lie flat it mostly goes away. So...at least I have relief for the times I might nap. Or at least when I go to bed for the night. I am normally one to start out on my side, but not during this shoulder pain time! Other than that I am feeling much better except these grueling stomach growling pains. My tummy doesn't feel very sore at all now. Unless I touch the port site. I am so OVER this clesr liquid diet. According to my nutritionist guides it shows that on day 8 I can have full liquids AND pureed food such as baby food, pudding, yogurt. Boy, wont it be much better! And I believe I can up the amt from 2 oz. to 4 oz if needed. I have to confess that I have been having 3 oz. sometimes already. These hunger pains are as bad as the shoulder pain. I have only done that like maybe 2 of my 6 mealtimes. Also it helped get my Protein in.
  5. My surgery was Feb 29. I am having the most annoying/ hurting pressure left shoulder gas pains ever. Oh my!!!! :0(
  6. Thanks all. I am walking all the time. I take gas x strips also. And use a heating pad. Was just curious how long others had it. I know all of us are different. I sure won't miss it at all once it finally gets gone. :0)
  7. Thank you, Mrs. Curtis. I will be so very thankful when this decides to move on. It is so hard to concentrate on anything else. I don't look forward to returning to work on Thursday with such a bad distraction. Thank you for your reply.

    Help Me Stock My Pantry

I definitely agree about the fiber to add in. I like Benefiber as there is no taste, mixes in clearly and is not gummy. I really started using it not so long ago, but really got wasn't good about using it 3 times per day like suggested. You can believe I have been adding it in things now since I had such a bad time a couple days ago. !!! Not good to deal with that after being newly banded. I'm sure the 2 wk low carb diet didn't help my matters any. I could tell a difference those two wks. And load up on several boxes of gas x strips ( at least two anyhow) For real. I will be so glad when I am totally rid of it all. ( my surg was 02/29) it stays gurgling in my belly and forever in my left shoulder. Icy hot rub has helped some too.

    Surgery Tomorrow! Yikes!!"

Sorry. This one was a duplicate.
  10. Well I have posted quite a bit the past 6 or 7 months, asking many questions and just getting as much info and feedback as possible by reading many posts. And now the time has come! It is my turn to go to the other side of the band! Wow! I can hardly believe the time had arrived! I am quite nervous! Never had any tyoe of surgery so this is my first! And hopefully my only one. :0) Thank you all for posting on this site. You have been such a huge help to me. I appreciate all of you. Please say a prayer for me when you can. Thank you! :0)

    Surgery Tomorrow! Yikes!!"

Corianna, thank you. When ya'll drink your protein shakes do you have the whole shake at a time? My doc / nutrition orders says only have 2 oz. liquid meals 6 times a day. And in between to sip on water, crystal light, etc... I am finding it hard to be sure I get at least 50 g of protein. It has helped to use the protein shots ( from walmart) that have 26 g, however.... to try to stick with my orders...it takes me a few meals to get it in. Oh boy, wont it be easier when mushies can be added.

    February Bandsters?

I slept on my bed right after surgery during the day but for the night AND the past few nights I have slept on the couch with the back cushions removed. Its nice to prop the pillow(s) against the arm of the couch. Although I have to say that pushing myself down flat helped my shoulder pain immensely. Its when I get upright that the shoulder pain comes back. When I have to sit up I just roll on my right side and push up with my arm. I tried the recliner and found it to be very uncomfy. But It is very old and worn too. I feel better today than any day since surgery on Wed. However this left shoulder pain just won't go away. I find myself starting to feel a bit. unsure for when I get to food stages. Yikes

    Surgery Tomorrow! Yikes!!"

Well... I am now banded! I had a bit of a rough past 2 days. I just felt bad. The gas is horrid. I can't get it all out. Especially my left shoulder. Geez! Today is a bit better so I feel good enough right now to finally post. Thanks for all the support here. It sure was nice to know what to expect. This gas pain needs to go!! Ouch! And annoying. My belly is sore at incision site, but feels a little bit better. I don't feel like I want to eat. But oh how horrible these empty stomach pains are!

    February Bandsters?

Well...I am on the banded side. Arrived at hospital about 6:00 a.m. on Feb 29, and was being rolled back to surgery about 8:15. Hardly remember much. Just something about sliding over a little more....the table is narrow. That's all I remember. I was already zoning at that point. Didn't even see the operating room. Next thing I knew, I was being woke up. I have had a couple of rough days. Finally feel a bit better today to post. The gas is horrible. I cannot get rid of it from my left shoulder. I am sure not getting near enough protein in. How do ya'll do it. I am spose to have 2 oz. Every 2 hours. And sip water, crystal light, etc... in between.

    February Bandsters?

Well I am at the hospital. In the waiting room. Waiting.....and getting a little more nervous about the unknowns with surgery but...having read all of these posts, at least I feel like I will have some idea. Still a bit nervous about the whole process, nonetheless. Especially anesthesia. Praying that all will go great. Praying I have it as good ad some of you.

    February Bandsters?

So glad to read that everyone is doing well. May today's surgeries and tomorrow's surgeries go well also! Thank you all for your support and good wishes. Mine is tomorrow! So very nervous, but also quite anxious to start this new chapter of my life! I had to pre register at the hospital yesterday. This IS HAPPENING! I have to keep telling myself. It's no longer an idea, a thought, or a far away future: the time has come. I can hardly believe how time has flown from 6 or 7 months ago when I was thinking about getting banded. This site has been so very helpful to me! I truly appreciate everybody here!
