I am so sorry to read you are going through this. I had cellulitis once, but completely unrelated to this surgery. It was from problems with my joints and an injection. Very painful and bought me a 5 day stay in the hospital as my entire leg was inflamed. I do recall the nurses putting a moist pack on my leg to help reduce the swelling and restore circulation to the leg. Good luck. Sorry your are having that happen, I hope you get well soon.

I've had it a few times, several years pre-op, so it's not necessarily anything connected to the surgery other than weakened condition and altered immune responses. Mine has always been on an ankle and the rash was preceded a day or two before with flu like symptoms and a rapid fever spike into the 104-105 range - that really gets your attention. My PCP always sticks me in the hospital for an incredibly boring stay due to the antibiotics that he prefers for it (what can I say - he's an infectious disease guy, who am I to argue?)
It's certainly worth letting the Bariatric surgeon know about it, particularly anything that close to surgery.

Is it like a small cluster of blisters? Usually if it is painful and a small area, it could be a case of shingles. I am not a nurse, but work in a Dr's office and at times of emotional or physical stress people sometimes will get a breakout of shingles. Just a suggestions. I broke out with cold sores after my surgery. I have NEVER had a cold sore in 54 years. You never know what your body will do. The best of luck

Wow...this is strange...and I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the surgery. I can say that sometimes our immunity is down after surgery and we are more vulnerable to illness during this time of weakness. We as gastric patients are struggling to drink and eat enough so that makes it worse on our system. I do hope you get well soon!!!

This particular thread is a blessing! You see, I was sleeved on December 6th and haven't lost a single pound w/in the last 1 1/2 weeks. I thought that I was doing something wrong. I find it SO unusual that I can eat so little (comparable to my "pre-sleeved" self) yet not loose a single pound. I have not measured myself- I've only used the bathroom scale as my guideline.
It's honestly nice to know that I'm not alone.

You are doing just fine! Don't be so hard on yourself. I was the same way. It takes a while for your body to adjust. Don't forget that it is in shock. Anesthesia alone is tough on the body, let alone coupled with near starvation and attempting to heal. That is where all your energy is going at first. So, just relax and focus on getting the liquids in. The reduction in food intake is inevitable so don't worry about that. See you in onderland!

I am in the middle of my fourth week and have been at a stall for at least 10 to 14 days (not sure when it started). How long does this first stall usually last? I am really frustrated with it. I think it is normal, but I don't know how long not losing is normal. Anybody know?
    Thanks,
    Rachel

Before being sleeved my son and I went to Chipolte on the regular. I would either get a buritto or three soft tacos, plus I would order two bag of chips (to share with my son) and an order of guacamole. I'd also take a couple bites of whatever my son ordered.
Post sleeve, we still go to Chipolte on the regular...about once a week. Now I get the burrito bowl with grilled fajitas veggies (onions and green peppers), double steak, mild Tomato salsa, corn salsa, and cheese. We still get two bags of chips and an order of guacamole. When we take it home I enjoy 1/3 order of chips with about half of the guacamole and just a little bit of the bowl. Then I divide the rest of the bowl into three microwavable bowls. I usually take one to work and have it for lunch, and then I have the other two for dinner in the next few days. So yummy!
I love my sleeve and am happy that I an still enjoy my favorite foods!

    Hi AKMama-
I have lost 111 lbs. so far and although the skin in my upper arms, upper legs and lower stomach isn't gorgeous, it isn't all that bad either. I am not sure of your age or skin elasticity but I am 32 and super fair (which is considered the least elastic skin) and I am noticing some definite tightening in the last couple of months. I will say that exercise seems to play a large role and I have used compression garments and feel that has helped as well. Long story short- it ain't that bad. And, Hubs and I are the only one to see the sagging skin but EVERYONE sees my smaller jean size.
    Good luck to you!
    Amanda

I started at the exact same weight you are now. I had the same thoughts!!! The last time I lost a lot of weight (80 lbs) I felt great but had loose skin. I got worried that it would get worse because I still had 40 to go. I ended up regaining every pound. I started thinking about surgery. Was all ready and had a surgery date. I started thinking of every possible excuse to not have surgery and canceled it. Needless to say, here I am waiting for a second surgery date and relosing the 20 pounds I lost after the first meeting with the surgeon. No amount of loose skin can keep me from being able to cross my legs or bend over. I figure that is what Spanx are for!!!!

I can't believe tomorrow is my surgiversary. My wedding photographer was talking on FB (she had gastric bypass last month) and she was saying how some people on her boards have lost 140lbs in a year. I thought about it and as of this morning, I have lost 107lbs this past year.
I honestly cannot believe it. It is a goal that I have always dreamt of but didn't think I could reach... and then to exceed it. Absolutely mind blowing!
Here is a little photo side by side she made for me that I thought was kinda cool!
And then one of my family this holiday season... hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!!

Whoa! Hold up. Think of what your body has just went through! You had 85% of your stomach chopped out, 5 holes poked in you, our tummy pulled out through one of those holes, anesthesia and IVs! PLUS your body has also dropped 20 lbs! That is a lot for a body to go through! It needs it's swollen insides to heal, and catch up with all the trauma it's been through. 20 lbs is a lot! Think of how long that would have taken you on Weight Watchers or any other plan!
I am in the same bot as you, my surgery was on the 13th and I am down 19, and haven moved on the scale for 6 days. It'll happen! Let your body adjust. You are taking in too little cals not to lose!

Alot of people are affraid to say anything because of the yo-yo affect. mabye they dont want to pressure you about your weight loss. Im sure they noticed but know that your weight is a sensitive subject and are just waiting to say something until they know its a perminant thing. dont fret about it. you are doing great and soon everybody will be noticing.

    Hi fellow December sleevers!
I'm so excited, just had to share...
I just received an email from my case manager (yes at 9:34 on sunday) stating that I should come prepared to schedule my surgery for the second week of December to my appointment Friday. She said have a plan in mind of what days that week may work for you. I wanted to respond and say EVERYDAY THAT WEEK, but I just politely said 'Thank you'. I'm really super excited now...moreso than before and just wanted to share with you all!
    Have a great week everyone.

I don't know about ya'll, but I am starting to get nervous! My surgery is Dec 12. I was feeling pretty calm about it for a long time, but I guess it's just getting closer and the anxiety is building. I'm glad I can read about other people who are going through the same things. I start my Protein diet on 11/28... I feel it's gonna be hard.

I'm getting sleeved 12/14 with Dr. Northup in Cincinnati. I've had multiple abdominal surgeries so I'm not so worried about that part of the process. Just remember to walk afterwards. It does speed your healing, helps to get the bowels moving, prevent pneumonia, lots and lots of good stuff. I'm excitged for us all! Next Christmas we are gonna look and feel SO good!!!
