    quitting smoking after vsg

I quit 2 months before I had surgery. Quit 07/12/11 and had surgery on 09/02/11. I still crave a cigarette every day but it does get easier. Just tell yourself you can't smoke because you had surgery to improve your health and to quit smoking will even make you healthier. That's what I do anyway. I don't want to start smoking again because I know if I try to quit again I will have to go through what I've already conquered all over again... The first few weeks are horrible or at least they were for me...
  2. KellyL, I have been watching your progress and you are an inspiration to me. I also had surgery with Dr. Kelly, so I have been watching for posts by people that also went to him. You have done really well with your weight loss. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I'm not a patient person either
  3. I had lost 20 lbs pre-op and now another 20, so a total of 40 lbs, but I have only lost 6 lbs in 3 or 4 weeks.
  4. I had surgery on 09/02/11 and right away I hit a stall which lasted for 3 or 4 weeks, then dropped 6 lbs, now for almost 2 weeks again I have not dropped anything. Does this happen to anybody else? This is very frustrating!!!!
  5. hey girl, I'm doing ok, my blood pressure has been out of control so when we get that worked out I think I will feel better.

  6. How are you doing???!!! Hope everything is going well!

  7. 1 week after surgery I stalled and I was 4 weeks out on Friday. Finally, Saturday I stepped on the scale and was down 5 lbs., I stepped on it again this morning and lost another pound. I just had to step on it again this morning to make sure I was seeing right because the scale hadn't moved in 3 weeks. Hopefully I will continue to lose a while before another stall because that was really depressing.

    I guess I'm at a stall

Ok, I don't feel so alone but it still is discouraging. I did my pre-op 2 week diet and everyday on the scale I saw the pounds drop, had my surgery and for a week I saw the pounds drop. Then all of a sudden...bam, nothing has been happening for 2 weeks. I can't wait for the pounds to start dropping again. I will let y'all know when they do and I would like to hear from other ones on here that have said they are in the same boat to let me know when they start losing again. Thanks

RickM that makes a lot of sense. Thanks everyone so much for your support and letting me know I'm not alone.

renogirl, I sure hope the weight comes off. It looks like we are making the same weightloss progress. I hope soon we will start to see the lbs. dropping again.

    I guess I'm at a stall

Thanks everyone for your comments. I don't feel so alone now. I think I'm not quite getting all my fluids in so that may be some of it. Just nice to hear your words of encouragement and knowing I'm not the only one going through this. It just amazes me that I am not eating enough to keep a bird alive and not losing.
  14. Tomorrow I will be 3 weeks out from getting my sleeve. I lost 20lbs on my pre-op diet and 11 lbs since my surgery. The past two weeks I have stayed the same weight and I don't understand. So actually I stalled only 1 week out from surgery. Is there something wrong with me? Has anyone else have this happen? I hear about stalls at 3 weeks but I've never heard of someone stalling after just 1 week from surgery. Is there anything I can do to jumpstart me back into losing? I'm getting very discouraged and I don't like feeling this way.
