    List of No-Nos

Never is a long time. I hate to be told I can't have something. Honestly, you can have any of these things after you have been sleeved for awhile. The carbonation is difficult for my new tummy but I still occasionally enjoy a mixed drink with soda. I can't drink it very quickly and it goes straight to my head but it is nice on rare occasions and my tummy will tolerate it. Sugar can make me feel a little yucky and I have learned I don't care for sweet stuff as much as I used to. Still, I do have some from time to time. I have a cup or two of coffee in the morning and it does just fine. I don't have high blood pressure and so I don't worry about too much salt, either. All of that said, I think it is important to stay diligent about losing the weight, especially in the first year. It gets more and more difficult to lose the weight as your size goes down and if you start figuring out how to "eat around" your sleeve. Be careful not to do much snacking and use common sense when it comes to sugary and high calorie foods and you will do ok.
  5. 4 months since surgery and I am down from 315 to 259lbs. Could be a lot worse!

  6. Had my first post-op appointment today... down another 10 lbs for a total of 37 lbs!

    Leak on Top of Pneumonia..

Wow, poor thing! I feel for you and hope you get to go home to be with your kids soon. Get better and thank you for keeping us updated. I am less than a week out and it is good to hear your story because it makes me keep better tabs on my own body and what it is doing. I hope everything resolves quickly for you and you are home snuggling those babies very, very soon! ((hugs))

    sleeved jan 24th

Hang in there, I was sleeved on the 24th too and the first couple of days were really more than I bargained for. Today is day 4 and I am finally starting to feel like myself again. I couldn't keep anything down but ice chips at first either but today I can drink milk, broth and everything. Just keep trying and I promise, it will get better

    Sleeved on the 25th

I got sleeved on the 24th and I am starting to feel somewhat normal again, finally. That first couple of days was a little rough but I feel pretty good by now. Hang in there and you will start feeling better in a day or two. I still have the tummy rumbles and hear they will be around for awhile. Take care of yourself! Telisa
  11. Got sleeved on Monday... whew! Doing pretty good by now (Thurs) but it was tough for a minute there!

    My Story

It sounds like you have had a very difficult journey! I'm glad all that is over and now you (and your sleeve) can get on with your life. I will be getting mine in less than 3 weeks! Welcome to the board, I look forward to hearing how your progress goes.

    OUCH - 4 weeks pre-op diet

My BMI is only 44 and I have been on optifit (medifast but without the one "real" meal) since Dec. 8th and my surgery is not until January 24th. I start liquids only in a few days. While I think my surgeon is much more demanding than a lot of people on the board, I am grateful in a way. I have already lost about 25 lbs! I am now used to counting my Protein, calories, carbs, fat, Fiber, etc... I swear, I thought I would die the first couple of weeks of this diet. I have found the secret to be to NOT eat anything that is outside the plan. If you do you become completely ravenous again for a few days. You can do it... I know because if I can then anybody can! lol!
  17. Hi Red: My surgery is scheduled for Jan. 24, so I am right behind you. Good luck!

    First Goal

I was thinking you look pretty ripped! I hope I look so fit when I lose my weight!
  21. I am also a Jan. 24th sleever! Good luck!

  22. Oh my goodness! I am so happy you are ok! I had a heart stint in 2003 so I know about heart issues. Just think, you lose this weight and that will most likely stop being an issue. Thanks for the update! I almost didn't see it! Stay in touch - Hugs!

    FINALLY!

Congratulations on your date... I am right in front of you on January 24th. Good luck to you and I hope everything is smooth sailing for both of us!

    Hello, everyone!

Hi Kassie: It sounds like you have done some research and have found this website. The vertical sleeve is definitely a better option than the other weight loss surgeries seem to be. I am sure you will be able to explain that to your folks, show them the statistics, and hopefully they will see that it is actually a viable option for you. Sounds like you have come to the same conclusion as the rest of us getting the sleeve have come to... we need to do this for ourselves - for our health and so we can live better, fuller lives. Good luck to you on your journey!
