  1. My doc put us on a 3 week diet. Mostly protein shakes, salad, oatmeal. 3oz. Chicken, yogurt, jello, pudding, and popsicles. This is done to shrink the liver which is right in the way of the stomach. A fat liver can break up if it hasn't shrunk prior to surgery.
  2. Hi, first what is pcos? Next I commend u for starting this process while u r still young. I am 53 and while I am by means ready to expire, I wish this had been available to me 25 years ago. I wouldn't have ended up with diabetes, high blood pressure, degenerative joint disease, 2artificial knees and a hip and depression for feeling hopeless at all these ailments. So u go girl. That 6 months will go by fast, trust me. I'm here add me as a friend. Anyway I can help, let me know.
  3. Most people who decide to have this surgery have thought about it for over a year before they make their first call. I don't know where u fall into that but hopefully during the next 6months u will know for surgery. Best wishes to u.
  4. I believe there is a saying that anything worth having is worth working for. My health is all that I have. I want to know I did what I could to preserve it. I'm no spring chicken, but I want my last years to be enjoyable ones.
  5. Your bmi will determine if insurance will cover the procedure. However, I agree with both ur friends--it is a last resort and it will add years to ur life and joints. I have two artificial knees and a hip. Had this been available sooner, I might have been spared all this pain and agony. Do it for yourself and ur girls. They need u.
