You are not in the green zone if that is happening to you. I'll reiterate what everyone has already said - see your dr. Take care of yourself now for the long term

Hi! So its been three weeks since you were banded and you've lost 20 lbs? Sounds great to me. Thats almost 7 lbs per week. You're not going to show a loss every day / every week.
Stick to the plan your surgeon/nutritionist give you as best you can. Sounds like you are doing just that....GREAT!
As you can, exercise. Even if its walking for a few minutes at a time. Every thing you do will help.
Keep in mind, lots of doc's are very conservative with fills and it MAY take you several to get out of what a lot of folks consider "bandster hell". (That period where its nothing but a diet.) If you're lucky, your doctor will progress you to a level of restriction rather quickly, where you will feel satisfied on a small, band sized portion of food.
As far as MY directions, it was to try and consume a minimum of 70-80 grams of Protein per day, but yours should provide your target range.
And above everything, don't get discouraged three weeks out from surgery. Congrats on your loss and just hang in there!

It's a shame that this topic has become so inflamed as there has been some information posted that is of interest and benefit to people researching the lap band or possibly having complications.
IMO the most important thing to remember is that this is a forum for discussion. We are not WLS surgeons, we do not know enough about each other's personal health situations, we possibly don't even know how to properly read and interpret findings from studies.
The best we can do is share our experiences, be supportive and encourage each other to get proper medical advice when needed.

Anyone that goes to a REPUTABLE surgeon will have been given all the info prior to surgery. I was given a booklet which told me all the possible risks. In fact here in Aus patients have to sign a statement saying that they know the risks of whatever surgery they are about to undergo - it is known as INFORMED CONSENT.

Which country are you in, it obviously isn't Europe or Australia or NZ as you are talking pounds and they all use kilograms.
100lb = 45kg - 110lb = 50kg. I think that you will struggle to achieve that even with a band. I am 153cm which is a smidgen over 5' so I am shorter than you. I have been banded for almost 4 years and am considered by most people, including my Drs to be very successful. I managed to get down to 50kg for a while but I have found it impossible to stay there. I now weigh 54kg = 119lb. This means my BMI is 23.3 so I am in the middle of the normal range. For my age my weight is at the 25th percentile meaning that 75% weigh more than me.
The band is designed so help you lose between 60 - 70% of your excess weight. Excess weight is defined as your weight over the maximum normal BMI range. For a woman the normal range goes up to 25.8. So on average the band could help you to lose between 60 - 70 % of the difference between 25.8 and 27! Would you be happy with that?
Although initially I was able to lose without much work the closer you get to goal (especially if you have a low goal weight) the harder it is to lose. In order to achieve such a low weight you will need to eat an extremely small amount and exercise lots. The Basal Metabolic Rate for someone that is 5'2" with a weight of 50kg is around 1290 calories. That is not a lot. To maintain your weight you will have to ensure that you don't eat more than that or that you exercise intensely to use the excess. 1290 calories is not much and it is easy to eat far more than this even with a band.
I think you may need to do some more research before you decide to go ahead. Ensure that you know what you need to do to get where you want and that your expectations are in line with the reality.

What a fantastic day! Started with a bike ride with DH and 26 yo son who has taken up cycling like us because he wants to lose weight. Then DH and I spent several hours setting up our local hall for a charity dance we were hosting. We are doing a Lions bike ride over four days in April and need to raise $350 each.
our dancing and other friends turned out and we reached our target - and danced all night!
    couldn't have done that pre-band!

SageTracey got a reaction from koolkel in Gained all the weight back! Anyone have advice or support?!?
I realised that my attention to detail (food intake in particular) had slipped and suddenly I had regained almost three kilograms.
I recommitted to accurately recording my food and have almost relost those three kilograms. I hadn't slipped on the exercise side so that was in my favour.
But I have learned that this is truly a lifelong journey - I "knew" it but now I have learned it. I shall have to be vigilant for the rest of my life because I do not want to go back to where I was almost two years ago.
You can restart and relose that weight. Set small, achievable goals and recognise your achievements as you meet each one.
    Best of luck.

SageTracey got a reaction from misscarrie36 in Fast food and alcoholic drinks??
Neither are good choices for us bandsters but sometimes you may find yourself in a situation so.....if I have to make a fast food choice I look for grilled chicken, salad without dressing, no fries, dump the bun.
On the alcohol side, volunteering to be the designated driver makes me everyone's best friend! But if I have sufficient calories available for alcohol, choose lighter options, non-carbonated.

SageTracey reacted to 0ldM3By3 in Engagement Ring...
I was banded 11/16/11. I got engaged 5/19/12 with a size 9 engagement ring. Since my surgery, I've lost 77 pounds.
Last week while washing dishes (with my ring on like an idiot), my ring flew off, and down the drain!!!!!
Luckily, my fiance was able to open the drain and get my ring before it was gone for good.
The next day, I brought my ring to the jeweler to get resized.
    I am now a size 6 1/2!!!!!!!
I haven't been that ring size since I was in my mother's womb I think.
A little success story from a little scare...

SageTracey got a reaction from Maddysgram in who here has been banded for at least 2 years and has had NO complications?
I'm coming up two years and have had no issues with my band either. I guess it is just more common for people to post when they do have issues and are looking for input from others in a similar position than it is for those of us who are not having problems to post.

And on the other side of the world....I haven't ridden today because it is flat out too hot! Probably the hottest day of summer (which officially finished 11 days ago) so I did all my jobs early and have been inside with the air con on ever since.
But I will be cycling to work tomorrow and then home again, regardless of the weather. Gotta keep on training for our big ride in April.
