    is walking enough???!!!

Hi. Without any information in your profile it is very difficult for members to offer anything other than generic, supportive advice. Are you banded yet? How long? Have you lost a good deal of weight already and simply hit a plateau? Are you walking briskly or strolling? There are lots of factors that could be affecting your results. The great thing is that you are out there exercising every day and monitoring your calories. Keep it up, vary your exercise, and success is sure to follow.

You know it is going to be a long ride when....

Had to convert to metric to understand that was 75km in total - great ride, with or without wind! After my charity ride last week of just under 300 miles in four and a half days, I have great respect for regular long distance riders! (and I want to do more....)

    Anyone from Indiana

Hi there Hoosiers! I was an exchange student to Hamilton, Indiana way back in 80/81. Loved that part of the world.

had to have most of my fills removed

You can be refilled. The most important thing for the moment is to take care of yourself and recover from your post concussion stuff. That sounds really serious! Best wishes.
  5. 29 years ago today I married my best friend. Today we are closer and happier than ever. We have stuck together through thick and thin (fat and skinny:) So how did we choose to Celebrate our anniversary? Well, a 100km bike ride seemed like a great idea as we are starting a four and a half day charity ride over 460km this week! Unfortunately, due to bike problems, we had to finish up at 75km but that is still 74km further than I could have ridden two years ago. BTW - yesterday was my two year bandiversary - down 63kg and living life to the max!
  6. No, last year's ride was the Great Victorian Bike Ride. This was the Bayer Lions District 201V3 Ride for Sight and it was a fantastic experience! In four and a half days I cycled 478 kilometres burning 17,742 calories and exercising for a total of 28.25 hours. But I'm not game to try and work out how many calories I consumed thanks to the 20 Lions Clubs that hosted us along the way! I came home at the same weight as I left, so I am happy about that. Plus, as a group, we raised about $50,000 for research into preventable blindness.

    Help

The important thing is to follow your surgeon's instructions during this healing phase. Best wishes.
  8. I've also been stagnant in terms of weight loss for a number of months but I am still following my surgeon's band rules. My band could be a little tighter but I am about to head out next week on a long distance, multi-day charity bike ride so I know that I will need to eat more than usual to fuel the engine. But once I get back, I will be straight off to get a fill to get the scales moving again. Good luck with refiring your rockets! Can I suggest that you set some goals and actively work towards them?

woman has lapband removed so she can eat...

She is clearly in need of help to understand the consequences of her morbid obesity and to deal with her relationship with food. In many ways I feel sorry for her but I feel even sorrier for the British people who will find it even more difficult to access WLS thanks to the publicity surrounding this one person's situation. I have gone from a size 24-26 to a size 14 and love my new life! Sure, I don't eat the foods that I used to love and definitely nothing in the way of quantities that I used to eat. And there are times that I miss those foods and quantities, but my life is so much better now that there is no way I am ever going back.
  10. My brothers and I don't get together very often but we were all there for our Mum's 70th birthday. My older brother has always been a very big man but all I have heard for a couple of years is how much weight he has lost. My younger brother has always been tall and whippet thin. well, this time (and forever more) I was the skinnier sibling! Yay for my band.

    Medical Alert Bracelet

Two years out and I can't see the point of a medical alert bracelet. My surgeon has never mentioned one and none of his literature has either. But if your surgeon recommends getting one, then definitely do it.

Good Day- Got my first fill...

This is in no way a criticism, merely a muse on how we have different perspectives on things in life. I smile when I read people talking about having to travel a long way to see their surgeon, like 45 minutes or an hour. That sort of travelling time is nothing to rural Aussies like me! A trip of three to four hours and I start to think that is a long one. PS I am glad you were finally able to get your fill done. best wishes.
  13. As soon as you are able, make sure you are eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Its natural fibre and doesn't take much to satisfy your hunger.
  14. Best wishes for your follow up surgery. Your questions really must be addressed by your dr. Any advice/info we could offer here would, at best, be based on personal experience, and everyone's circumstances are different, along with our drs who also take different approaches.

    Crazy question???

And you are not putting any solids into your body so you cannot expect any to pass at this stage.

    3 days post-op and dragging

Don't forget that you have also had a general anaesthetic and it takes your body time to recover from that as well as your surgery.
  17. Happy Easter. I have very fond memories of living in Indiana as an exchange student more than 30 years ago!

    Drinking

Practice helps but you will probably never be perfect. Most of us have had to relearn eating and drinking lessons as our band journey progresses. Best of luck.

    ? for the women

A lot of women tend to get bloated when they have their period and they retain fluid so they put on weight.

    Major Fitness Victory

    Congratulations! That is awesome.

    Fiber supplements???

Straight after surgery when you are on full liquids, you can't expect fewer bowel movements because you aren't putting any solids into your body. Once you are back to a normal diet, focus on getting your fibre from natural sources such as fresh fruit and vegetables. Remember to for plenty of fluid in as well and you should be fine.

    Zumba!!!

Good on you! Just remember, everyone else in the class was doing the same thing as you so you all looked silly together. Actually, you probably all looked like people committed to improving their health and fitness. Enjoy.

    Deydrated

Drink plenty of water. It can't hurt you.
  24. Good on you for passing on your clothes (happy to say I don't need them

    Burping with bile

You are not in the green zone if that is happening to you. I'll reiterate what everyone has already said - see your dr. Take care of yourself now for the long term
