  1. Congrats to you!. Hopefully I will be where you are before June 2012. Keep it up!
  2. Great Job girl! What an accomplishment. Keep it up!
  3. Wow! I wish you much success. Everything is moving along for you so smoothly! Keep me posted!
  4. That you for your story. I will be 3 months post op tomorrow. I have lost just about 40lbs! it has been not that hard for me so far. But it's still a struggle. I am happy with the choice I have made but still have such a long way to go. Thanks for your encouraging words. Keep it up!
  5. That is a great story. Yes, Lane Bryant used to be my best friend. Although I am not even at my halfway point, I refuse to shop at Lane Byrant again. My biggest goal was to get out of the plus size stores. Now I can get into a size 16 or 18 so I don't need to shop there anymore. It is a struggle everyday, but when the scale moves, it makes me remember my reason for doing this. What a wonderful journey! Good luck to you! Rochelle
  6. Just curious, when did you get banded? I just reached 40 lbs and had surgery 6/17. Good job! Keep me posted. Rochelle
  7. Hi. I just read your post. Did you ever get your surgery? How are you coming along? Keep in touch. Rochelle
  8. Call both of your doctors. Probably the PCP first. I had a hiatal hernia that got repaired when I had my surgery. That's internal, so I'm not sure about yours. Good luck and keep us all posted. Rochelle
  9. So tell me about that please. I got banded on 6/17/11 and have lost 30lbs so far. I would like to lose 100lbs in a year and I have not exercised really. Can you give me some tips on what guidlines you followed? Thank you Rochelle
  10. I am in the same boat. I have lost 30 lbs but have been stuck here for about 2 weeks. My problem is my caloric intake. I don't eat as much as I should, it's hard sometimes. But i guess all we can do is take one day at a time. Hang in there!
  11. Amen Jachut! I agree with you totally. Just don't finish your food. My Surgeon's office gave me that card as well. But honestly, I always forget that I have it and have yet to use it. I just buy a regular plate, eat what I can, and take the rest home. This is not so complicated you know.
  12. I am so happy for you and you have done such an amazing job! You are truly an inspiration. It takes a lot, a lot of hard work to get where you are now. i just hope that I will get there someday too. Thanks for the post!
  13. I was wondering the same thing. I am down 30lbs and was a size 22 now I am in an 18 comfortably. 10 more lbs and I should get into a 16 bottoms. I would say 10-20lbs for each size depending on your shape. Good luck and congrats to you!
  14. Congrats to you! I had a really hard time with not being able to eat and drink at the same time too, but it's really not that big a deal. You are more concerned with chewing very well and getting the food down to worry about drinking. Trust me Every now and then I have to take a small sip of water if something gets a little stuck. But it is a big no no. That is something that you will get used to fast. Like Pixistix said, the veggies can be kinda tough to get down at times, but just met them wet with something. I don't have problems with any meats yet. I have been banded for 9 weeks so I am still a newbie to this. But every now and then I will put guacamole on steak and chicken if I think it is too dry. You will be fine. Good luck and keep in touch!
  15. No I don't feel the band. Never have. I had a Hital Hernia repair so I felt that pain after surgery, but never the band.
  16. I have only been stuck for about 5 minutes at the longest! Fingers crossed....I have some papaya enzymes just in case.
  17. Wow! I am surprised at these answers. I thought I was one of a few that weighed daily! Crazy! I don't have a scale at home. I think I would go insane. But I weigh myself at work everyday. It it frustrating at times though.
  18. Ive lost my 16 month old plus 5!
  19. Good for you! I had a Hiatal Hernia with my surgery as well. 6/17/2011. I can honestly say that the worst part was the gas. I had it for about 2-3 days after I went home. The hernia repair was probably what hurt the most. I am very happy I did it. I feel great and look forward to my lifelong journey. Good luck to you.
  20. Yes, same with me. I have noticed men holding doors open for me and women smiling and starting conversations with me while I'm out. It's really crazy. But I think that we are just more confident in ourselves and it really shows. Good luck everyone. I love this journey!
  21. Hi. I was banded on 6/17/11. Just wanna see how you are moving along. Keep in touch!
  22. Wow! I have never even heard of this. I don't know, it seems scary to me. Good luck with what your doing.
  23. I was banded on 6/17 and started to eat only a cup of food at a sitting. But still had restriction. 1 cup was really not enough for me after about a month. So I would just stop myself when I hit about 1 1/2 cups of food and just lost that way. I just had my second fill a few days ago and now I really have restriction! But my doctor always told me that he does not want me to measure my food. Because he said that if you eat 1 cup of cream Soup, you will not be full and you have put a lot of empty calories in you. He said that he would rather me eat 3 cups of fish and veggies because that doesn't have many calories and stay full longer. It makes more sense to me that way also. But, I don't measure my food either, It feels like such a diet to me that way. I get discouraged and feel like I can't have anything. So it just works for me. It works better for many people. Keep up the good work and good luck to you! -Rochelle
  24. My doctor puts 3cc-4cc, depending on what type of band you have. I have an AP Standard so I got 3.4cc. My second fill was yesterday and she gave me 1.4cc. So now I am at 4.8cc total in my band. I had a little restriction but felt that I needed more. So they really listen to me there. That's how it should be. They decide how much to put depending on how comfortable the patient is. Good luck!
