  6. One member asked the question: Is sleeve surgery “taking the easy way out”? This question really got my juices flowing and thinking. For all of us who endured the agony and anguish of bariatric surgery, we recognize there is nothing easy about this most important matter. Let see, how easy this is? 25 intelligent reasons for making our choice. 1. Exercising and working out with little or no results (life long) 2. Yo-yo dieting with little or no results (life long) 3. Heart disease 4. Respiratory problems 5. Stroke 6. High blood pressure 7. Elevated cholesterol 8. Diabetes 9. sleep disorders 10. Gout 11. 7. chilol Your response is special to me, please do not feel guilty, feel fortunate you have the love and support from people who love and care about you, to them you are special enough to donate their time to. They want to see you around for some time. Please see that's want love and family is all about. And don't worry, we see, in this world as every thing is on the wheel, your turn will come around to offer your love to them. Take care and be well, Lash Not easy at all, apart from what everybody else said I'd like to say that I still feel bad sometimes and even guilty of having put my family through this ordeal of having 85% of my stomach taken out. We put on hold buying our house for me to have this operation, and my mum flew halfway round the world to come and look after my children while my husband was with me when I had the operation. I actually think it was one the best desicions of my life and I have never had any regrets!
  8. I am a bit over six weeks out and finding some foods I use to eat and enjoy I am have problems digesting or just don't have a taste for any more. Foods such as oat meal, okra, Water melon, bake chops, just to mention a few. I was advised after sleeve surgery patients would have to learn how eat again. They are very much correct. food now is an adventure, learning what is healthy and nutritious. Reading labels, going to restaurants and ordering from the child plate or at best splitting an order from the menu. Leaning what to eat, what not eat, how much, how to chew, how slow to eat are just a few new ways of the sleeve patient. A few months ago I knew nothing of Greek yogurt, whey Protein, and blender bottles. Now it’s a way of life for me. What's most important is to be a success, I must adjust my attitude to meet the challenges bariatric sleeve surgery and how food affects my new stomach. A new point of view and a mind-set toward life and food have made this man 40 pounds smaller with 30 more to go. And that’s great for myself and loves ones. Comments please! Lash
  9. pcos_chick, Great Picture Where did you get it? Could use it in my group. Thanks, Lash Here's the picture:
  10. Hello everyone, I am seven weeks out, and approx. 50 lbs lighter with 25 lbs. to go reach my goal of 200 lbs. Feeling great, having a wonderful time researching new material on nutrition, Vitamins, and different types of food to help me in my weight loss journey. At the gym and meeting new people in the support group has been a significant appreciation to my self esteem. One of the best things to happen to me is my sex life is alive again, my wife says she can but her legs around me. Things are happening to this 59 year old guy that I thought was long gone forever. Waking up morning feeling great (you guys know with I mean), not having to take the “little blue pill” is a big thing for me. We are doing things we haven’t done in years. Satisfying my wife offers me great appreciation for our marriage. Its help our life in so many ways. Going to movies, eating out, walking in the park, or just relaxing at home and enjoying each other has put a new spark in our lives. This is life is all about, when two people can recognize the value of love making after 25 years of hardships and successes. As a consequence, one of the most interesting things is, it can only get better. As always, comments welcome. Lash
  11. thinoneday, Very wise words, but its not stupidity, at times stuff happens. The best thing is you are doing something about it. Lash may i add a couple more, . . . embarrassment profuse sweating when its cool outside Wait until you slip up a bit and gain 21 lbs like I did because of stupidity. . then having to lose it. . . want to talk about easy? It's everything but easy! Actually once you gain weight, it's just as hard to lose as if you never had the sleeve if not harder. . . .

    Sex is great again

Best wishes to you and yours. Lash I've been with the same wonderful guy for 30 yrs now, and our sex life is even better than when we started out. Being at my goal weight makes me have a much better attitude about my body, which of course is the most important aspect of a healthy sexual relationship. I'll be 50 in a few weeks, the last child is now out of the nest - so I'm looking forward to the next years my hubby and will have together having fun (sexual and otherwise!) and being healthy enough to travel, walk, etc. Glad to hear you're in the same boat!

    Sex is great again

It will get better, its all in the attitude! Lord knows I've gotten a bit on the lazy side as I've gotten on the bigger side, then my DH himself likely does the same since he is in the outta breath side..hehehe. Things to change soon with my surgery (date was moved, now Monday the 20th).
  17. I am in the gym doing cardio – elliptical, treadmill, and cycling. Want to do lite weight (10 lbs.) training for my abs on the machines. I am approx. 7 weeks out. My concerns are (1.) is it too soon, (2.) can I do harm to the incision, and (3.) are abdominal crunches safe. It’s also said curtain exercises can help shrink stretch skin - had not found any facts on that. If anyone have any helpful info on the subject, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks

  19. Most proteins will last longer, eggs, meats, and fish such as salmon.
  20. Funny you should bring that up, I am 4 weeks post op and asked my doctor today about drinking. He stressed make I start out with a white wine at home for the first few times. Don't over do it, and he said again make sure its done at home. Apparently the new stomach have to use to alcohol. Also, be careful because alcohol have a high sugar content. Take care and be well Lash
  21. I am 35 days post op. All is going great with the exception of chewable Vitamins with my doctor recommends. I tried Centrum Silver chewable with food and they made my stomach upset. Doctor gave me a sample of Celebrate Bariatric vitamins in his office, 30 mins later I had to pull on the side of the road (you know the rest). I also have a sample of Bariatric Advantage but now afraid to try. Any suggestion please. Lash
  22. Easy for me, 4 weeks post op - sip your water as time goes on. You will be able to take in more water. Have fun and be well.
  23. Try Bluebonnet you can the small sample packs from Whole food. Don't need a blender and it taste pretty good. If you like drop a pack of equal to help out with the taste. Lash

    Stalling Already :(

I am post op 30 days plus days and lost approx 35 lbs. First follow your diet instructions exactly. Keep working toward your goal. Weight loss is an individualistic thing, not all folks progress at the same rate. Stay away form the carbs also, do more protein and keep your good attitude toward life. And all will work out fine.

    sleeve or band?

Jeff, If your only option is to travel to Mexico, then do it. But if you can have it in your area, then by-all-means do so. Follow up is very important. But of course you know that. I am in the Houston area and there are several excellent doctors here. Take Care and Be Well, Lash
