  1. I want to have beautiful, uninhibited, freaky sex with my boyfriend
  2. I can totally relate. I had my surgery on the 27th and am going through the same thing. I just know each day will get better and less painful
  3. Thank you. It does feel great to finally make it to the other side and begin this new chapter in my life.
  4. I started feeling pain before I was even totally awake from anesthesia. I remember trying to take a deep breath and I couldnt cause it hurt too bad. I tried to be tough and not take any pain meds in the hospital. All the doctor had ordered was Morphine, and I didnt feel my pain warranted Morphine. As long as I dont move around too much, my pain is about a 3-4. Once I get walking around, it is about a 6-7. Good luck to you tomorrow!!
  5. Yeah. Im feeling pretty bad. Im 2 days postop. The pain/nausea/indigestion, etc comes in waves. I did not prepare myself mentally for the pain afterwards. But I can say, I feel much better than I did yesterday, and hope tomorrow will be even better. Good luck to you.
  6. Had my surgery Tuesday the 27th. I guess I really did not prepare myself for the pain I would be feeling. I was so caught up on what I could and could not eat, it never occurred to me that I would be hurting like hell. Liquid percocet is my best friend right now. Surgery went well without a hitch. Having alot of shoulder pain. Having alot of heartburn, indigestion. Not hungry at all. Struggling to get enough protein and fluids in me. When I was in the process of all the testing, paperwork, preop, etc, etc...I thought that was the hard part. I thought after surgery it would be a breeze. Not exactly. Now the real fun begins. But I am up for the challenge. Sorry if I am rambling on. Blame it on the alcohol...no..no...the percocet.....
  7. So this is a common topic of conversation for banders, but it is new for me and I felt I needed to vent a little on the subject. I got my surgery date set last week. I will be having it on Sept 27. I am very excited and ready for the next step in my healthy lifestyle. The problem I am having is the sadness and loss of knowing I will not be able to gorge on foods of any type. I have been drowning myself in food for so long, I honestly don't know what I will do. I have been doing Atkins successfully for the past 3 months and have lost 50 pounds. Ever since I was informed about my surgery date, I have had a really hard time sticking to my diet and have cheated twice in one week. I would love to hear how everyone else has conquered this obstacle in their pursuit of a healthier lifestyle.
  8. Thank you DMG. I will definitely be eating alot of mushy veggies.
  9. I am currently awaiting insurance approval for my Lap Band. I have been on Atkins for 3 months and losing weight at a nice pace. I would like to continue Atkins once I get banded. I am curious as to what you fellow Atkineers ate during all phases of Lap Band diet..immediately post-op, liquid, full liquid, puree/mushy, and finally regular foods. I have this vision in my head of living of off protein shakes for the rest of my life. Would love some suggestions during all phases that would be Atkins and Band friendly. Thanks ahead of time for the info.
  10. The ball is beginning to roll even if it is at a snails pace. Had my upper GI with KUB today. Gallbladder ultrasound and chest xray was done on Friday. The light is getting brighter at the end of the tunnel. Yay me!!
  11. What about Atkins? There approach is high fat, moderate Protein, low carb? Im not sure about the high fat part of Atkins. Im also unsure if I will be able to tolerate meats. Has anyone had problems digesting certain meats?
  12. Is anyone doing low carb dieting pursuing lap band? Or have had lap band and currently doing low carb? I have been doing low carb for the past 6 weeks and have lost a considerable amount of weight. I would like to continue low carb, but not sure how this will work with the lap band.
  13. Thank you Mary. The whole experience seems a little surreal right now. The nurse wanted to take a "before" picture, and I guess they have more faith than me, that there will be an "after" pic....it was ironic though, the camera would not work, so they didn't get to take my pic!! Said they will do it next time. Also, the surgeon tells me my goal weight is 155, I figured 145. That makes me happy cause I thought I was being liberal.
  14. Yesterday was my first visit with my surgeon. All went reasonable well. He thinks I may have gall bladder issues. I kinda knew that already. He said it would have to come out either before or during lap band surgery. Having upper GI, KUB, gallbladder ultrasound scheduled to determine if in fact I do need my gallbladder out. I really like my surgeon so far. He has a reputation for being very knowledgeable with poor bedside manner. I have only met him once, so I don't have enough interaction to form a valid opinion, but he seems very straight forward and to the point. Some may see that as poor bedside manner. I see it as a doctor who you can trust not to sugar coat everything. The real emotional let down happened for me when sitting with the Bariatric coordinator scheduling all of my appointments. I am not even sure how many different appointments I have. Somewhere around 10 I think. During all of this scheduling, a flood of emotions swept over me, and I thought for a minute, I would break down sobbing. I don't know why. I didn't feel sad...maybe overwhelmed, maybe validated, many elated.....or all the above. I managed to suck it up, and not shed a tear, and not letting the coordinator see my emotions. When I left the office, I felt even more determined to make this happen. So, I am off in pursuit of checking off my long list appointments!! Maybe with some luck, I will have my lap band before Thanksgiving??
  15. I also take a beta blockers which controls me very well. There is no way I can go without it. When I have bad flare ups, my heart rate gets into the mid 200's, and will not regulate without medical intervention. I have scheduled an appointment with the cardiologist to get clearance. It has not been a requirement of the surgeon yet, but I am sure it will come up. Good luck!!
  16. So I am in the early stages of my journey for lap-band surgery. I have my 1st surgeon appointment June 30. I have had problems with irregular heartbeat most of my life. The doctors say it is caused from a block accessory pathway, basically my heart does not fire right. I haven't had many problems because of this, but I am concerned how surgery will effect me. Also, if I am stressed or fatigued, the irregularity increases. Anyone else out there have the same thing that has already been banded? Tell me what your experience has been. Thanks
  17. I spoke to BCBS-NC today and the rep assured me there was not a requirement for 3-6 month nutritional classes/counseling. We will see what happens when I get to that point.
  18. I was wanting to know if there are any post op banders that have or had sleep apnea and if resolved or improved after weight loss? I have had sleep apnea for several years. I had the UP3 procedure in 2004 for sleep apnea. It helped for about 6 months, now I think my apnea is even worse. I dream of one day not having to sleep with tubes and face masks. One of my motivating factors in pursuing lap band is my sleep apnea going away. I am in the early stages of researching lap banding and I have my seminar in a couple of weeks. Would love to hear your experiences.
  19. Where are you wanting to have your surgery? Where do you live?
  20. I have BCBS of NC. Is there anyone that has gone through the process with BCBSNC? I am curious about the required 6 month nutrition classes I keep reading about. I have spoken to a BCBS rep on the phone numerous times and they have never mentioned this to me. I have searched the website, read their requirements concerning lap band surgery, and it never indicated a 6 month waiting period. I would love to be able to have my surgery before Dec 1st. I have already met my yearly deductible and the surgery will be covered at 100%. Yearly deductible starts over Dec 1st and it is a high one. I will be attending the seminar June 7.
