  1. Hello All, I got sleeved on 4/22/2011 by Dr. Anne Lidor at Bayview Hospital. The surgery went great though apparently I'm not quite correctly assembled down there so it took a full hour longer than scheduled because she had to hunt for some organs that were placed oddly. Other than that the surgery went great. I woke up in recovery and had one of those nice buttons that dispensed dilaudid into my system. Recovery was fine though I had a little issue with the catheter, seems they only used a 5mm balloon and I'm rather wide up there so it slipped out of my bladder and into my urethra which was a bit frustrating since I really had to pee. I eventually ended up peeing around the catheter before they finally removed it for me. Anyway, other than the little catheter mishap, I was doing really well the first day until they took my dilaudid button and put me on pills. When they did that they didn't give me enough pain medicine and I wasn't doing so good. I went from being able to walk 6 laps around the floor to only being able to walk 1 or 2. Once the dilaudid cleared my system they switched me to oxycodone and that worked really well for the pain but not so well for thinking. Long story short, I ended up staying a second night in the hospital. Controlling the pain though really helped and I was definitely better the next day when I went home, the only real problem I had was that the Protein was drying out my mouth and throat making it hard to get enough protein, I was also having a little trouble getting enough liquids down as well. All in all though I was in pretty good shape if a little out of it from the oxycodone. I spent the third night in my own bed at home but didn't sleep a whole lot since I tend to sleep on my stomach. Day four was a pretty rough day as well. I was still having trouble getting enough liquids down but I was able to tolerate sugar-free Jello with protein mixed into it really well so I was doing a little better on that front.I also stopped taking the oxycodone in the morning because it was making it really hard to concentrate or keep a line of thought going. The pain was minimal however my abs definitely felt abused and I had a very sore muscle where they pulled on my ribs. Either way I was doing a lot better. Day five was the first day I actually felt human again. I was off the oxycodone and eating jello with protein and drinking plenty of crystal light. I did tend to get a little tired easily but otherwise I felt good and I was in good spirits. I'm now 10 days post op and today was my first day back to work since I work as a software developer and that's not very taxing. I've been getting enough protein and liquids since Day 6 so I'm doing really well and I'm down 25lbs from the night before surgery. I'm defintely looking forward to being able to eat soft foods in a week or two depending on what the surgeon tells me next week and being able to drive myself places again.
