  1. I am so thrilled you are all treeating yourself for your success. To be honest it never really crossed my mind that I should reward myself for my hard work. I know I have shared my feelings with my husband, friends and family, but I feel no who really has an any idea how much of a big deal this is for me to not be overweight, because it has been a constant battle my entire life, beginning in 3rd grade when I started counting calories. I am excited , but no one is excited for me and I think that is where I am having the most difficulty so far, I think I am going to think of something to reward myself. Thanks everyone for the en lighting!
  2. I think you should go to a different surgeon in your area maybe they are submitting the paper work in correctly. Its worth a try. I have a high BMI with no co-morbidity's. I was approved the next day the problem was the refferal and the surgeon a complete mix up is why they denied me at first. I would seriously go to a different surgeon to make sure the paper work is submitted correctly before you pay out of pocket. We love are soldiers and it sounds like he is very supportive, my husband is too!! I wish you the best of luck!
  3. Go to this web site : http://www.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog/itemHandler?id=1920 and then go to live chat and tell them you are interested in a free sample packet! They asked for my basic info (no credit card numbers ) and will be mailed out on Monday!! Good Luck!
  4. When I had my psych evaluation, he told me one of the hardest problems people face is the new reactions they get. People are not used to get looked at in a positive way, and when that changes all of the sudden it is sometimes hard to take in.. At least that is what the psychologist said. Not only this might be hard for you, it is also probably hard for your husband to know there are other men looking at you lustfully. Just some food for thought. Congrats on your success!!
  5. I like unjury ordered online! They have an unflavored and I can mix it with low sugar items like pineapple mango great value drink mix and it tastes so good!! Plus if you add ice or Yogurt (fat free) it makes the shake like a milkshake and goes down slower makes you fuller faster!! So the unflavored gives you so many options . I have fortress shakes from Wal-mart Peanut Butter chocolate they are great too!! I mix all with 6-8oz of fat free milk or Water..

  7. The Great Value drink mixes at Wal Mart have a pineapple- mango and they contain stevia, only 3 grams and not artificial sugar. This was a great discovery for me , b/c Splenda and Nutrasweet and most sugar free items give me a headache.. The other thing I would add to the list is a magic bullet! I love it and when you are done mixing you can use the cup to drink the shake. It is fast and easy and I think it will be perfect my mushie stage!! Also Multi- Vitamins and Iron if you are still of age to get your period. What a wonderful idea!! YOu go girl!!
  8. Congratulations !! I know I lost about 8lbs in 4 days so far.. and my mother in law, uncle are all the Protein diet as well and had great results. I am ready to go under and have this surgery.. I am so thirsty from the drinks I have drank 122 oz of Water, and still thirsty'!! Is this normal ?
  9. Thanks Kay. I really need some stern support !! I am not allowed any food at all. Just shakes. You are very fortunate to have such a doable diet, I wish you the best and hope we can support each other!
  10. I haven't been the best either, on my pre op diet. I have a had very small amounts of foo( like piece of lunch meat, etc I am so glad I am not the only one who has cheated little
  11. Ladies and suggestions??? I get so hungry when I am PMSing. Today I tried to stay busy, but I sit at work and that is when it really kicks in! Is there any suggestions on how to get past this, during the pre op and the post op ? Any suggestions will be helpful.
  12. Once I got the referral to the surgeon that I wanted, I was approved the next day. The referral process took the longest because there is a dip@#** working as office manager at my PCM office. So to answer your question I have Tricare and I was approved overnight!
  13. WOW! What a great idea! Buy the bikini and put it on the fridge!! I am very surprised my surgeon has said nothing about me quitting smoking~~ Of course I have tried several times. And been successful for short period of times, but now that I will have the band as a tool to lose weight, I think I will be able to quit smoking without the biggest fear of gaining more weight. Because let's face it , last time I quit I gained 30lbs! Yikes! No more gaining for us July Banders we are on our way to losing and more losing. If anyone wants to be a band buddy that would be great I really need some support with this pre op diet! Thanks
  14. MY doctor requires this as well!!
  15. MY doctor requires this as well!!
  16. Thanks everyone I appreciate the support and input! Thank you. Day two was better and cooking things for the kids that are not as tempting. Tonight the kids had waffles , I didn't even want to taste the batter. They can be my taste testers, I am so looking forward to the weight loss process of the pre op diet and the continuation with the Lap Band as a tool for a healthier life.
  17. Wow that is a great idea!! Thanks!
  18. I am having a few problems with my pre op diet, I am supposed to drink 3-4 shakes a day. That is fine they fill me up and taste great! But I had one bite of food yesterday spit it out... and this morning I took one bite and swallowed should I feel guilty. It is the temptation of the food being there, not that I really want or need it. I am so scared that I am going to be a lapband failure due to my lack of will power. I am fine through meals with my family, it is cooking " tasting to see if it is done or needs more of something" It is such a bad habit of mine. I did notice as long as I turn my nose off, there is no desire to eat... I just keep telling myself " nothing tastes as good as thin feels" I did this with every scoop of cookie dough on the pan, in order no to cheat..... Will I be saying this to myself for the rest of my life? Does anyone have any ideas... Thanks
  19. My pre op diet is 3-4 protein shakes a day! I love my shakes and they are filling... I had a chocolate one for breakfast, chicken noodle soup flavored for dinner, Strawberry for evening snack and since I work nights I will be putting the chocolate in my coffee. I mix them with 8oz of fat free milk. 60 and 120 grams of protein a day for me.
  20. Thanks everyone for your advice !!
  21. So I am set up my surgery date which is July 1st!! whoo whoo!! They tell me make sure you never drink and drive... I am thinking DUH, everyone knows it is dangerous and illegal to drink and drive... So then I am thinking about it before I open my mouth... Wait she means after the band not to drink anything while I am driving. Because, if there is a problem you will wreck.... I was like OMG... I was just informed I can't lift (which is my current job) and no bread for a year (can handle that) but, no water while driving.... I live in Florida and a drink is just as important as the car keys ! Has anyone heard of this.... So I am not worried about pre op diet, or going under, I am worried about not being able to drink water while I drive, or my band slipping is my worst fear.. Those were the 2 things the doc's office emphasized the most. Things I haven't even thought of ...
  22. Let me admit, I found out my surgery date on Tuesday, so I am having my big dinner on Friday night, (steak), and I had my last Mexican dinner this week as well. How terrible is that?? LOL!!
  23. I think the pre op 2 weeks of 3-4 protein shakes a day is not scaring me.. However, at my appointment on Tuesday, they told me no bread or pasta for a year. Which I am not big on either on of those, but to really comprehend the idea is huge... I was also thinking this Friday is my last dinner night, and the next time I will chew food is like 6 weeks away.. That is a crazy concept as well... I think it is so awesome , I am so excited.. Is anyone else having thoughts like this?
  24. I just got my surgery date today! July 1st! I am so excited, and a little worried... Although most of my concerns were reassured today at the office a whole different ball park of anxiety "slipping". The girls at the office really stressed on the importance of being super careful. I wirk at a job which requires lifting... Their protocol 6 weeks!! I can not take off work for 6 weeks I will loose my job..... So I have decided to take 1 week off, and then light duty the second week and wear a binder to get my muscles in place.. At my appointment today I had a scan to see if there were any blood clots in my legs, I was given a lot of helpful paperwork, and quiz to take online. A few days before my surgery I will go in and get a EKG, lung x ray, blood work and then meet with my nutritionist (which is a free service offered). Tonight I went and had a nice Mexican dinner and 2morrow I go for my last steak dinner and Saturday morning I start my pre op diet!! This is happening so fast.... July Banders we are at the beginning of our new life journey lets be successful together!
