Day 3 on my 2 week Pre Op Diet....
In my case, day 1and 2 were easy but by day three I was feeling weak, hungry, grumpy, tired and I had a terrible headache every single day thereafter. I completed day 1-6 without cheating but on day 7 which was easter Sunday, I threw out my diet and ate some food. My headache completely went away. On Monday I called my nutritionist and told her about my headaches and how I cheated. She recommended I do the modified diet instead, which is having 3 protein shakes a day, a small meal and a snack. I started this diet on Monday and I haven't had a headache since, and haven't felt the urge to cheat. I found out that wendy's chili salad is a great source of protein and it pretty munch contains everything you need in a small meal. I've been having that for lunch ever since and it's so delicious! (I also try to eat about 2 ounces of grilled chicken with my meal to add more protein) and as my snack I usually have an apple. I ordered my meal replacement protein shakes from bariatric advantange. I find that the chocolate is the best flavor and each shake has 27 g of protein. Their protein bars are great (by the way if you do the modified diet you have to toss out the protein bar from your original liquid diet). I have two days left and then I will be on the other side! I wish everyone else luck!

Sleeve in hopes of pregnancy also
All your posts are so promising. I also have PCOS, but unlike some of you, I do have a son. My relationship with his father was over soon after I became pregnant. I am now married to a wonderful man, been with my husband (he has no children) for almost 7 years and never used birth control until a couple of months ago; my OBGYN suggested I get off of Metformin and start using low-ovral birth control to see if it could help regulate my months of non stop periods (which it did). My surgeon took me off the birth control at the beginning of April though, because of the risk of blood clotting during/after surgery. My main reason, like many of you, for weight loss is to be able to maybe one day give my husband a child. I am happy to hear that it has worked for some of you and maybe one that it will be me too! My surgery is scheduled for Monday, lets hope in a year or two I am pregnant!

I agree with Ashley I think it depends on your insurance. The best thing to do is contact them directly and ask for the requirements. Good luck! Pre-op here as well. Surgery is scheduled for Monday!

Having Sleeve surgery May 2nd!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi dnicewife! I am glad so many of us are at the same stage. I hear that some people don't have to do the two weeks diet simply because their surgeons don't require it.

Having Sleeve surgery May 2nd!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow Kelly that is amazing!! 60 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations! I know you must be so proud of yourself. Ive only lost 5 pounds but it's a start . I hope you reach your four pound goal before your surgery! Keep that will power going girl you are doing great!!!! My insurance didn't require any weight loss or months of prep before my surgery. My only requirement is to work on shrinking my liver beginning two weeks prior to my surgery. But maybe it would have been a good idea to start early like you did. 60 pounds is a big difference!

Having Sleeve surgery May 2nd!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like a good idea to take your Nook. I don't know if with the pain you will be able to use it all though. My co-worker had the gastric bypass surgery done about two months ago and she said she couldn't even sit up properly and that everything for her was painful, even using her fingers. Everyone's pain tolerance is different though and I hope because we are having the Sleeve surgery, that it is less painful than the gastric. Based on her experience she said the first couple of days she regretted doing the surgery because of the pain but now that she is all better she will not take it back for any pain in the world. She has lost almost 50 pounds in two months!! And you are right... I have the same problem with food. For easter Sunday I was just supposed to cheat during lunch but eventually I also cheated with dinner. I felt so guilty on Monday and got right back on track. Congratulations on your weight loss!! You have lost a lot on your own! Have you been exercising along with the diets? I still haven't started working out but Ive been doing other things to compensate at least a little like walking fast, parking further, taking stairs and doing a lot more cleaning around the house to keep me moving around throughout the day. I have also been drinking 2.5 liters of Water throughout the day and you will be surprised to find out how much walking you get done every time you have to run to a bathroom! lol

Having Sleeve surgery May 2nd!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi lkcraig316! I am happy to finally find others who share my same date! My surgery is at NY Columbian Presbyrian Hospital... New York, NY. My surgery is scheduled the same as yours and my hospital days are expected to be three nights. I started my Pre-Op diet last week Monday and I completed an entire week without cheating but during Easter Sunday I cheated really bad! I felt so guilty eating and I encourage you not to cheat. If I could take it back I would. The Protein diet was giving me a lot of headaches so yesterday I spoke with my nutritionist and she recommended I do the modified diet...eating at least one meal per day. I have found this diet to be more reasonable and I don't feel hungry or like I need to eat. I think my brain just needed to think that I actually ate something. I am taking slippers and a comfortable sleeping gown. That's it! I hear the first couple of days are painful and you will be mostly in and out of sleep because of medication. So I figure the less I take the better. I also use a CPAP machine to sleep because of my sleep apnea. So they recommend I also bring along my mask so that I am more comfortable with mine. Don't worry about asking. I am more than happy to share what I am going through. It makes me feel more at ease. How many pounds have you lost since your pre-op diet?

Having Sleeve surgery May 2nd!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe this day is around the corner already. I am super anxious and excited at the same time. I have to admit I have cheated my pre-op diet a couple of times but I have lost five pounds so far. Started my diet Last week Monday. Too bad I won't be able to have a nice dinner for my birthday on Thursday! But I guess that is part of the sacrifices we have to make to change the body we don't want to have. I don't know how much pain I will be in after the surgery and I am nervous about that. Did anyone struggle a lot with the pain?
