  3. Hi everyone, I am being sleeved in a little over 2 months. I will start my pre op diet 2 weeks before surgery but I'm not sure what I should be eating now. I see that some people start calorie counting and protein shakes months before surgery..should I do that as well? I met with the fitness instructor today and they suggest that you watch what you eat up until the strict pre op diet is started. But to what degree should I watch what I eat? Should I get more strict with portion control as well? Thanks in advance
  4. If you have a fairly regular cycle you can do Natural Family Planning. No hormones, pills, or inserting of a foreign object I also delt with infertility in the past and am wanting to avoid getting pregnant during the losing period. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
  5. Thank you so much! Your words of encouragment mean so much. I know that this surgery is right for me but when I think about the "what ifs" I start to panic because I have a toddler and I can't imagine not being able to tend to him for so long (leak recovery). Or even worse, not being on this earth for him. I know it's silly but it's so scary at the same time. This thread is great because not only are the words helpful but it's great to know that you aren't alone in your fears
  6. My fear is a leak...I think about it day and night. I have called the nurse and asked her a million questions about the 1 patient that had a leak w my doc. Ugh, it's a huge fear of mine, but I keep praying that everything will go smoothly. Thanks for the uplifting post..it sure helps
  7. yay!! You look great! Do you mind me asking what size you were in before surgery? I love seeing success stories like this. Thanks for sharing
  8. Hi carolyn, I'm right next door to you in LA. Congratulations on 10lbs gone! That's great! Supportive husbands are the best I'm curious, how is your sister? Did the bypass help her?
  9. Great question! I am also wondering what vitamins I should buy. Do they all have to be in liquid form?
  10. Thanks so much for the info! I have some $$ down put I will also have to borrow. Wow Disney, I didn't know that about filing surgery on your taxes, thanks so much for the link

  12. Thank you for sharing! I hope you continue to feel better. Good Luck
  13. Who did you finance your sugery through? There are so many options, it's kind of overwhelming! Thanks
  14. I think there are several people at this site who have had the sleeve with a BMI lower than 40. My BMI is 39. From what I have read most surgeons will perform the sleeve on patients with a BMI over 31 but I'm sure it depends on the surgeon. Good Luck!
  15. I am so sorry you are going through this! My thoughts and prayers are with you. Hoping for good news!
  16. I have healthfirst and was told that they do not cover any type of WLS at all! Good Luck!
