bradycone got a reaction from laurenanastasia in I hit my goal! 100 pounds (with pics)!
It was just a year ago I first heard about the sleeve. I hit the grounds running and flew through all the hoops to make it happen. I was sleeved on May 3rd, and now I have hit my goal of losing 100 pounds! It has been a great journey!

I had one when I was sleaved. No, it's not fun, but it's bearable. I was in enough pain from the surgery, that having a catheter wasn't my biggest concern.
    So you'll be just fine!

bradycone got a reaction from kryssaboo in What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
My moment was in March when I was sitting in the Denver airport waiting to board a plane. I checked Facebook on my phone, and one of my friends had just written a post that said something like "I'm sitting on an airplane getting ready for takeoff and I seen a fat guy walking down the isle. Of course his seet was right next to mine. Why do I always get stuck next to the fat ones?"
It was then that I realized I was that guy. The fat guy that everybody hoped wouldn't sit by them. that was just 2 months ago, and I'm already 3 weeks post op. Down 40 pounds, and loving it.

bradycone got a reaction from uccmart in Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
I would do it again! I'm only a few weeks out, but its been a great experience so far. I am one of these "low BMIers" that some of you seem to despise. My BMI was 38, and I had no comorbidalties. I've seen a recent post on here say that people people who are slightly overweight shouldn't be allowed to have the surgery. But, having a BMI of 30-40 isn't slightly overweight, it's OBESE. Even if I didn't have any health issues, just being obese is amajor threat. I've seen all of my family suffer from heart disease and diabetes, so why would I wait until I have them too to get this under control?

Hang in there! It does get better. I am 10 weeks out, and can chug over half a glass of Water, then 5 minutes later I finish off the other half. Just make sure that you're constantly sipping whenever you're awake.

My only regret is I didn't do it years ago. I'm 58 years old and now trying to fit in everything I've missed out on for years. My husband says I sometimes wear clothes a little to young for me (my daughter in laws disagree) I say I'm wearing what I want and nothing to revealing or vulgar. Yes, this was tough in the beginning,, the first month or two I wasn't sure if I made the right choice. But after a few months I knew the surgery (sleeve) was so right. I have always lived for food, , it ruled my life, I still feel I revolve around food to much. But the sleeve helps keep me in control. I'm 16 months out and 107 pounds down. I range from 130 to 134. I want to stay here and that is my struggle now. I'm trying to stay away from very much fat and sugar.. Protein first!!! Everyone says I will gain some weight back now.. I don't want that to happen. I've never been a size 5/6 before,, I love it!! I can play with my grand kids,, go to Water parks and keep up at Disney!! I need to do something with the skin hanging problem.. it is a problem!!! For the person that is unhappy and feeling left out.. time will change this.. I go out with people and have a drink and enjoy the food,, but I usually share with my husband or take most of mine home.. esp. if I had a drink... it makes me feel good that I can take some home instead of eating a whole plate of food and feel guilty later,, that is in the past.....

Like all of the posters have said, everybody is different. A lot of people take several weeks off, but people with desk jobs often go back to work in a week. But, even though you can do your job, it takes a while to get all of your energy back. I am almost 6 weeks out, and I still don't have all of my energy. So, starting back to 2 jobs might be hard. I would start back to the desk job, then maybe give the hostess job an extra week.

bradycone got a reaction from PIRATE~MOM in 3 weeks post op and need some diet opinions.
That sounds normal. Especially with soft things like oatmeal....they slide right through. You'll start feeling more restriction when you move from less soft food to to more solids. Quantity doesn't matter as much as overall calories and carbs.

Lol Bradycone! Man thank God I don't either! Ok I ended up eating a lil more than a piece it was like half to total those pieces up! It's still ok. I noticed I'm not a sucker for Krispy kreme like before! I first thank God for that and second my sleeve! Omg I use to have the BIGGEST SWEET TOOTH EVER! Now it's died down but I won't lie three weeks ago my oh so supportive older brother brought home to me when they clearly know I had surgery for weight loss.... Brought home RIPS LICORICE OMG I GOT HOOKED! I said no but I won't lie than I got told just have one piece n that was it. It's fine we fall and get right back up! That's all.

I've always been told that leaks happen to less than 1%. My surgeon has done a few hundred and never had a leak.

speaking of swimming, (slightly off topic), I don't float half as well as I used too! It should have been a no brainer, but I nearly choked myself as I flailed about in the pool during my first dip this year. I used to be able to float from my mid chest upward in a 'standing' position in my pool, now I have to paddle to barely get my shoulders above Water in the same position! I would call it an NSV, but dang, I really used to like the way I could float so well! Lol, the dang sacrifices we must endure!

I had that happen! At two weeks post op I hit a stall, and I gained 5 pounds in 5 days. I was so frustrated!
But, here is the way it was explained to me: Right after the surgery your body starts to burn glycogen that is stored in your muscles. After a couple of weeks your muscles start to rebuild their glycogen supply. With the glycogen it has to store Water. All of that extra Water it stores leads to weight gain. But, while it's doing that, your body is still burning fat!
Don't worry, you'll get through it and the pounds will start coming off!
