  1. Just curious and be honest if anyone has cheated on their post-op diet and what the consequences were? I feel so hungry and have honestly been contemplating putting something in the food processor and having a few bites of a mushie.
  2. Does anyone know if there is a forum for people who are not being successful with their VSG? I can't find one and I desperately need to talk to someone else who may be experiencing what I am. Thank you.

    Newbie from Texas

My psych eval was a breeze considering how scared I was. They are basically trying to make sure you are psychologically ready for the changes your body will go through with this surgery. I had to do a test on the computer and answer a few verbal questions. Don't let it worry you too much - it's easy. Good luck to you JJ. Cindy

    Diet

This is only MY personal experience - everyone is different. I eat what I want only in smaller portions - NOT WORKING FOR ME! I have been playing around with 10 lbs for 2 months. I lose it - I gain it. I lose it - I gain it. I'm not sure if my calorie intake is too high or because I have not been working out. I am fed up. I guess I have no choice but to start counting every bite that goes in my mouth. Good luck to you........

    VSG Failure

Okay - so how do I change my old bad habits? I still THINK I am hungry, I still want to eat something about ever y3 hrs. I can eat approximately 1 1/2 cups of food at a time and I can eat ANYTHING. Everthing goes down. I sometimes feel a little pain but I never throw up. My weight fluctuates between 296 - 305. I lose, I gain. I lose, I gain. So frustrated I'm not sure I even want to try anymore. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
  6. My dietician recommended Unjury Chocolate Splendor with Sucralose. I tried this morning and it was actually very good and creamy. Nothing like the whey protein powder. Mixed with 8 oz. skim milk it has 20 gm of protein.

    carbonated beverages

Thank you for clarifying there is no scientific proof that drinking soda causes stretching. I just had this discussion with my surgeon and dietician last week and have been bummed out ever since. I cannot fathom how soda can stretch out my sleeve but they keep arguing with me that it will - although now that i think about it they did not explain why. I know soda has high calories but sometimes i feel i just have to have a soda and i would rather OCCASIONALLY have a soda and cut back on food. I know that is bad but it is a physcological thing with me. I have an appointment with a therapist next week because i am having a very difficult time changing my old habits - eating when I get upset or stressed out. I tend to want to turn to a soda or ANYTHING with a little sugar in it. I guess I have a sugar addiction. Thanks for all your advice - you are so appreciated on this site.
  9. So excited! I got 2 new cookbooks today and I have found soooo many recipes that look soooo good. The Best Chcken/Egg Salad

While browsing bariatriceating.com a lady was recommending the following recipe that she got from thecookingguy.com. I'm not sure at this time the nutrition value because it was not posted but it sound good and sounds like it has a lot of Protein. The Best Chicken/Egg salad Ingredients: 6 hard boiled eggs, peeled 2 ribs of celery, diced small (about 1/2 cup) 1/3 cup mayonnaise (I'm going to use FF mayo instead) 2 cups deli-roasted chicken, shredded Freshly ground pepper to taste 2 tsp curry powder Steps: 1. In a bowl, use a fork to rough chop the eggs. 2. Add the celery, mayo, chicken, curry powder, salt and pepper to taste 3. Mix together well and serve.
  13. Is there a way to know if you have stretched your sleeve?
  14. Now that I know I can eat anything I want, I find myself wanting to eat things I shouldn't. I still want the cokes and the sweets. How do I overcome this addiction for food?

    What do you think?

OOOhhh, thanks for the info. Iam definitely gonna try this.
  16. Thanks for the info. I also have trouble - I gag something terrible. My NUT suggested cutting them up into fourths with a pill cutter and either mixing with food or drinking something with each 4th. This has worked really good for me. I swallow a 4th with my SF Carnation Instant Breakfast until all gone. With my second vitamin of the day I usually mix with some SF pudding.

    Orange Juice

I am also about 6 weeks out and I drink orange juice with no problem.

    Eating out

My NUT told me they used to issue these cards but no longer do (I forgot the reason why). When I eat out I just order whatever I want, eat what I can and then bring the rest home. I can usually eat 2-3 more meals off of it.
  19. Ok VSG family, I have bought and am exploring some cookbooks for WLS patients. Some actually have some great recipes but I am not sure if I will be able to handle some of those foods eventually. I was curious to know if any of you sleevers who are 6 months or more out might answer this question. Can you eat any of the following foods?: salad stuff such as lettuce, green onions, cucumbers, tomatoes? fresh fruit such as grapes, berries, etc.? sandwich? bread for toast? tortillias? rice? Would appreciate to know if anyone can eat these things or is this one of those trial and error experiments? Thanks!
  20. After 2 weeks of not losing an ounce, my scale finally moved. As of today, I finally dropped another 2.4 lbs. Not a lot but I will take it!!! Down 30 lbs now!

    Yum!

Thank you for that tip. I drink Carnation every morning on my way to work. Right now it is really cold outside when I go so I appreciate your tip - now I can have it warm instead of cold. I can't imagine why I didn't think of that. Nice way to start the morning.!!!!

    Stalled already??!!

I stalled on my 3rd week and am still stalled. I will be 4 weeks post-op on 12/15. I haven't lost anything in two weeks and actually gained 2 lbs. My doctor said not to worry about it but I am really peeved. I read a post on here earlier today about a lady who stalled for 4 weeks. She increased her water intake and exercise and finally started losing. I pray I don't stall for 4 weeks. I will be so irate. I feel like I had the surgery for nothing if I'm not going to lose.
  23. Thanks for sharing - that gives me hope. I am almost 4 weeks post-op and my scale hasn't moved in two weeks. I am so frustrated. I thought I was drinking enough water but maybe not. Plus I think I need to start walking more. My doctor doesn't want me going to the gym until the first part of January so I really haven't been getting much exercise. Thanks for the inspiration.
