That's awesome!!! Such a good feeling!

    Worried about my drain...

Agree with people here.....it was so quick to have it removed, and it felt "weird", I wouldn't call it pain. And it was soooooooo much nicer to have it out!!!!!!
  3. What medication are you taking?

    Acid Reflux

I had the same issues.....never had heartburn before (also except with the crazy spicy food decisions!) and have had it quite bad since about 3 weeks out. My doctor has prescribed a liquid form of Nexium which I take am and pm. I still sometimes have a flare-up in the middle of the day. I'm hoping it won't last forever!
  5. Same as the others, I was told to bring it to the hospital with me and have used it every day since. No issues with extra gas that I can tell.

    Air Locked?

I definitely know what you mean. I found that it happened to me when I took too big a drink or took too many sips too close together. I'm now 6 weeks out and can take bigger sized drinks at one time, but I still have to watch it when I'm feeling thirsty and want to "guzzle".

    Chin Hair and Weight Loss?

I too, have PCOS. I'm 5 weeks out from surgery and seem to be losing at the same rate of others so far, which is so exciting for me, as nothing I've tried before has worked! I am halfway through laser hair removal treatments and I am definitely noticing a huge decrease in the speed and volume of hair growth! I can't speak as to whether it will be forever yet, but I can tell you it seems to be working so far. My first period since VSG did seem to be lighter than the intense ones I was having prior to surgery (I had to stop taking the birth control pill to help with PCOS due to getting blood clots from it). So, for me, so far, my symptoms seem to be improving. My endocrinologist wants to see me 3 months out to check the progress. I'll keep you posted.
  8. Ok....I'm embarrassed to ask....but has anyone had issues with green diarrhea? I've been having it for 2 days now. My doctor didn't seem to have any concerns or answers, and I realize diarrhea is common, but it's really green. Which, what I can find online means your body is passing the food through too soon without digestion. Just wondering if anyone else has had this, and if they got an answer from their doctor. Sorry for the blunt grossness!

    Gross Question!

omg!! I can guarantee I have had no christmas cookie dough, LOL

    Gross Question!

Oh my gosh....I didn't even think about grape koolaid!! The doctor asked if I was eating or drinking anything green and I couldn't think of anything at all......You're right the powder to make the SF grape koolaid does have a green tint. LOL.....I never even considered that! I think that answers my question and I can stop worrying about it.
  11. Surgery date: 6/7/11 Amount lost: -30 lbs Exercise: Walking, but need to walk more What are you eating now: Just moved to purees this week after 4 weeks of full liquids. I can't tell you how good refried Beans taste!! lol How do you feel: Not bad....still a bit tired (which would probably get better if I was exercising more). Would you do it again: Yes....30 lbs has made me believe! I can't wait to move on to mushies next week and then normal food after that. I'll be glad when the burning sensation in my throat/esophagus calms down. I never had heartburn before surgery (unless I went wild on extremely spicy food). Thank god for SF popcicles!!! The only complaint I have (and sorry for being graphic) is going from diarrhea to not having gone to the bathroom for 4 days now! I don't know which is worse. I'm glad I'm finally able to take smaller pills again....some of the liquid meds for my normal medications was just AWFUL! So glad to hear how everyone is doing

    Puree stage

I definitely agree on this It makes you feel like you're having lasagna!

    Medications

Perfect, thanks so much! I have to psych myself up every morning to "do the shot" of the med, lol. I'll call the dr this afternon to double check, but sounds like I should be ok! Whew, thanks again.
  15. I couldn't find in the reading an idea of when I could take medication in pill form again? I'm 4 weeks out and one of the medications that I am taking in liquid form tastes AWFUL!

    Feelig Remorseful

I just finished my full liquids this week (week 4), so I totally understand. I ended up searching for new and different soups constantly.....I think I went to 5 different grocery store chains to see what different choices they had. One brand I found that had flavors that were better than the normal tomato and chicken broth was Imagine. They had some like potato garlic and currried lentil. And all of their soups were smooth. So, hang in there, and get lots and lots of different soups!
  17. 4 weeks out from surgery. Feeling so much better every day. Hit the 30 lb mark on my 4 week anniversary :)

  18. I just had to share the good news from my one-week followup visit! I'm down 18.5 lbs. Now....I realize a lot of that is Water weight from the coumadin stoppage the week before surgery, it had been causing me horrible bloating and water retention. But....it was still such a motivating visit! I was a little down yesterday trying to get all the water in and was struggling with some "head hunger". I needed some good news today to get me back in the right mindset He also took out the drain tube, which I couldn't be happier to be without!!
  19. I'm doing pretty well! Had my follow up appt today, he removed the drain, and said everything is progressing well. How are you?

    Staying Hydrated

Seems to be the same for a lot of people, me included. I agree with the bouillion...I use low sodium chicken or beef, just to get in some water that isn't sweet. I'm also a big fan of low sodium V8.
  21. I seem to be progressing the same way. Protein shakes and puddings/soups are going down just fine....I struggle most with the Water. I just keep plugging away!

    Sleeved 6-7-11

I also had my surgery June 7th, and came home on June 9th. On Wednesday, I was so tired and sore, couldn't stay awake, I was definitely wondering what I'd done. However, every day since then has been better. I am walking often, getting my Protein shakes in, and drinking v8. I'm working hard on the Water, but am struggling getting past 40 oz. I was never a good water drinker before surgery either though! Overall, I am feeling pretty good. I'm showering every day and getting around pretty well, just a little sore. I've been staying with friends so far, and am going to head home tomorrow. I have my first post-op appointment on Monday, am hoping he'll remove the drain at that time. Good to hear how everyone is doing!
  23. Surgery was Tuesday, June 7th. Wednesday was rough, but each day seems to be getting better. I'm working hard to get my protein and walks in, but am struggling with the water intake.

  24. Hi...I'm scheduled for surgery June 7th and am excited, nervous, anxious........ I was set up to stay with some friends for the first 4 days home from the hospital, but that has fallen through. I haven't lived in this area very long, so I don't know that many people. My question is this.....how much help do you think I'll need for the first week? I'm just trying to understand if I can do most of it by myself, and what I need to set up with others. Thanks in advance for any suggestions & insight!!

    pulmonary Embolism?

Just as a final update....I had the removable vena cava filter placed last Thursday. It was a relatively easy procedure, and I can say it's given me some peace of mind for my surgery TOMORROW....I can't believe it's here and I'm doing this.
