  1. Now stop me if Im wrong, but isnt DS a two part surgery? Months apart? What if you get approved then get the first part, then just never get the second part?
  2. 60 is very handy! I just ordered True Protein samples, it has 45 gms per serving... and 188 calories- no carbs...I will have to see how it tastes.... https://www.trueprotein.com/Product_Details.aspx?cid=22&pid=6797
  3. I'm a vegetarian, so I will be eating lots of carbs. I do eat eggs and dairy, so that will help... but beans, tofu, even dairy has carbs. oh well. I will see how it shakes out when I am eating after the sleeve. I will be putting proteins first, and the protein drinks will help too. I did lose weight on Southbeach, as a vegetarian, without a lot of carb fueled hunger.
  4. This is so interesting! Best of luck to you both. Technology is always moving ahead.....
  5. Xanax (Alprazolam)
  6. Im confused... The 100% Whey Protein AMP from GNC label says that one serving is 20gms of protein. You must be using three servings at a time? Thats 390 calories plus milk...x 2 a day....? I guess 800 calories isn't bad with 120gms of protein.... Is this your pre-op diet or after? Thanks for clearing things up for me! oh, and I love your quote, so true!
  7. Wow Lil. That must have been scary! Glad your feeling better this morning.
  8. Theres always Egg Nog protein shakes.....dash of cool whip and nutmeg on top.... brandy extract..... I wish I could get mine then, but I am going to New Zealand for Xmas. I had to wait till my DH comes back in January, two weeks after me..... I would miss all the chow... but really, my health is the best gift I could give myself or my family.
  9. Cute cute cute!!! I hope I have such great results!
  10. ....how many of us will die prematurely without the surgery? That is why this .5 percent is an acceptable risk...
  11. The weight loss center that I am going to has had one death over the years (well over 200 people). They talk about it openly and talk about the details too. They said that the person had a heart attack. They are not entirely sure, but they think it was a chemical imbalance. The Dr says that even if the odds are very good for patients, for that one in (fill in the blank) it is 100% dead.
  12. So you had 85 to lose and lost 60... thats not minimal! That may not have been 100% but the stats say the average loss is around that for the sleeve. Gaining 15 lbs must be disappointing... Get back on plan... protein first, lower carbs, exercise a little every day, drink your water. Losing 5 lbs from exercising is great over two months... keep that up for life and I would think you should get to where you want to be. Good luck and don't give up, you signed on for some changes with the sleeve as your little helper. Do you have access to your nutritionist and such still? Perhaps a review with her, and when I log what I eat in a nutrition counter on line, its lots easier to keep on track. Maybe it will be for you too. I find its allot harder to write down junk filled days! Believe it or not, this keeps me from eating extra junk... I just hate writing it down and taking responsibility for eating it all! lol.... good luck to you tweaking your course a little towards better health and those last few pounds.
  13. Hi D, I hear its when you feel like it and your off any pain meds... cheers! K
  14. guided relaxation can be a very powerful tool. enjoy....
  15. Congratulations to you! You must feel like a million bucks!
  16. here it is... http://wlsfa.org/looking-for-help/how-to-apply-for-a-grant/ Looks good!
  17. Estrellita, My nut said to expect to average 10 pounds a month, so by her definition, you are right on track! Congratulations on that weight loss! I know it is hard to change habits, and it sounds like you are working on it, which is good. You might have lost more so far if those self defeating habits had not been there, but the gift is, now you see them more clearly, and are working on it. I don't think you are a failure at all. Just keep going back to the basic rules... you see them here everyday and your Doc gave them to you I'm sure. Protein first, veg/fruit second. Try 5 small meals or three meals and two Snacks to help keep hunger away. Eat these meals even if your not hungry at the time. Plan ahead for the day. Drink a Protein Drink before going out for dinner to help keep you from eating something that does not add to your healthy nutrition needs. Taking your Vitamins? Using an acid reducer? Don't drink 5 minutes before/with/30 minutes after meal, keep track of protein/calories/water- EVERY BITE/SIP, fitday or something like it helps. try and get some exercise in over the course of the day. This will get you the weight loss you need for better health. When I do not write down what I eat, the calorie count goes up. For some it goes down, but I don't think this is your problem at this time. Make sure you have friendship and activities in your life that you like. Don't make food your only and best friend..... Good luck! Stick to this site, they will support you when you need it!
  18. get a load of this! a thread with uses for oopsie/cloud bread... here is french toast.... http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lowcarb-recipe-help-suggestions/537945-uses-oopsie-rolls-recipe-thread.html
  19. Wow! 12 lbs a month is great! My Dr said to expect 10lbs a month. If Whey bothers you, have you tried soy protein powder? I don't like the texture as much, but it has lots of protein and you can get it in flavors or plane. I make a hot chai tea with1cup 1% milk, one oz of soy protein isolate powder, a decaf teabag, stevia, and spices... heat...but not TOO hot or the soy gets lumpy (32grams protein). Do you log your calories and protein? I use fitday.com. It helps me keep on top of whats going in. I do not have the sleeve yet, but coming up soon! Im sure i will have challenges just like you, get back on that wagon, your doing great! Keep checking in here, I'm sure I will need your support in January!
  20. Oops, I mean holy cow Onikenbai! That must be extremely scary for you. Best of luck in finding a treatment that improves your health.
  21. Good for you getting ready like this! My surgery is in Jan also, on the 18th. I have been using Fitday on and off for years... its the only one I have ever used, so I can't say if its better than the others.... One bit of advice my nutritionist told me that I never did before was to count only high grade protein. Only protein in meat, milk products and whey, soy and soy products, beans and eggs. I guess the rest of the protein that shows up on the counter is lacking amino acids and/or digestibility. So bread, and other foods that have quite a bit of protein don't count towards the count. boo hoo, but thats what she said. So I do a quick count in my head to make sure I am on track with the high quality proteins before dinner so I can still catch up if I need to. That being said, Fitday says that I can eat 3000 calories to stay the same weight... and that is not true. I am eating around 1800 now to stay the same. I exercise 4 days a week, and weigh 245lbs...so go figure THAT one! I am trying the drinking thing, and the protein first thing, to get my head around it too. Good luck January!
  22. Holy cow Lily, That must be extremely scary for you. Best of luck in finding a treatment that improves your health.
  23. I don't mind going to goodwill, so I will use that. I also have some smaller sizes in a bag in the closet that I will mine for stuff... I was thinking some drawstring pants and skirts will get me through a few sizes...have any smaller sisters or cousins you can borrow from?
