  2. Hello everyone. Just checking in and letting you know that my surgery was successful. Got home Friday night and have been fighting naseau and acid reflux, but other than that doing good. Today's the first day that I've felt almost normal. Glad I did this! Can't wait to get healed up and focus on my new journey. Haven't weight - will do that at the Doctor's office on Wednesday - when they remove my port.

Glad to hear you and everyone else are doing so well!!

  3. Thank you all :)

I thought I explained it well enough for everyone to understand. I am very sure I know what I had and what I've went through. I haven't had any issues with the sleeve because they reshaped my stomach and connected to were it was supposed to be. They have no idea prior to this how my food went through my body. I haven't had any leaks or anything. Everyones body is different and heals differently. I was in extremely good shape prior to having the surgery so my doctor said my body would heal differently and he didn't expect me to have any issues.

I'm sorry you don't understand what I have most people don't. My family, friends and I understand and know what I've been going through and basically that's what matters.

I just wanted to share my story not debate it or try to one up someone.

I'm so happy you had this resolved! It sounds like a frightening experience.

also, I think what Wheetsin was trying to convey, is that this is like a medical mystery and very intriguing for those of us who are medically inclined. I had some of the same questions and I hope it doesn't come off the wrong way by us asking. It's just an amazing story!

Did the doctor's ever give you the name of the condition? That way I can go research it and not pick your brain over the details :)

  4. I had just watched a youtube vid of someone with the same problem of constant hunger (LadyKanKan I believe is her username) She was taking antiacid in the AM as well. She asked her doc about it and he advised to take antiacid in the AM and in the PM. She said the next day her hunger feelings were gone. Maybe you should inquire w/ ur doc if two doses are advised.

    Good Luck!

    Good idea. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this! How is everyone doing?? I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. Im only on week 2 but the hunger im experiencing is all in my head im sure. meat and chocolate and cake O My! Like others have said Jello really seems to hit the spot. Ive heard alot of post sleevers say they experience hunger but its due to the acids bubbling around in your newly empty stomach. Do you take an anti acid daily? Try it

Yes I take nexium every morning. I have increased my Protein, and that has helped a bit.

  7. Hi everyone! I had surgery on Monday morning and should be heading home today. Tuesday was tough, I didn't feel very good but today I feel so much better. I'm keeping down 4oz of liquid every hour now. They brought me yogurt which I might try but am very afraid it will hurt. I have been up walking laps and have only had a tiny bit of pressure in my shoulder due to the gas. Feeling very fortunate and can't wait to get home to my own bed.

Congratulations!! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

How's everyone doing this morning? I'm less than 24 hours away from surgery! I don't know if today's going to go by super slow or super fast. How did you spend your last day before surgery?

    Hey ChaCha!

I spent my day cleaning the house top to bottom, repacking our bags, rechecking the hotel confirmation, making sure the cabinets were stocked, and pretty much anything I could think of! Good luck tomorrow! I'm so excited for you!!

  8. The ASMBS is the leading organization in nutrition/vitamin/supplementation and following bariatric patients across America.

This is a HUGE medical read' date=' but it's full of vital information for us. It explains everything from Vitamins, labs, and post-op diets and the "whys" behind everything.

If you would like to skip all the major reading, at the top of the PDF file, use the down arrow to get to Page S95 in the paragraph under Table 6, you will see that there is zero scientific evidence to support the 20-30gram Protein absorption myth. Page S93 starts the Protein talk and the whys behind the intake and need for protein after bariatric surgery.

    http://s3.amazonaws.com/publicASMBS/GuidelinesStatements/Guidelines/bgs_final.pdf

Our bodies absorb what we eat. Every calories, carb, fat gram, protein gram. How it is assimilated, and processed is the key to absorption. How readily bioavailable that protein source is should be the real question, not how many gram we eat. It's even discussed why we should avoid collagen based Proteins since they are not complete proteins.[/quote']

Thank Tiffykins. I appreciate info based on scientific data.

  9. My surgeon said to expect hair loss, a lot of it, in the first 3-9 months, but that by a year things will be much better. He was right on all accounts.

One of the practical pieces of pre-op information we were told was to not color, perm, or otherwise treat our hair for the first year, minimum. It adds too much stress to the hair and will cause more problems than it solves.

Thats good advice. We weren't told that and I was about to color my hair!!!
