  1. I got a call this morning from the hospital that my surgury is scheduled for July 26. I had no idea that it was going to happen so fast. My feelings immediately went from excitement to fear. I guess that is normal. The first task is trying to find babysitters for all my children. I have seven of them lol. I have four of my own and three step children that I take care of full time. I have a wonderful supportive husband, but his ex is not that helpful at all. This is all so sureal. I am very excited to start my journey. I have to go in for bloodwork tommorow and an akg. I have a pre-op apointment july 14th. I can't believe this is happening still kind of shocked. Is there anyone who has the same date as me? Would love to have some sisters :) I am so happy right now. :D

Congraaaaaaaaaaaaats!!! :) Go check out our July Master List (I added you to it!). It looks like Tipsynoodle has the same date as you and there are several people that have dates right around you! Good luck, girl!!! :)

  3. Looking at the ingredients list, I wouldn't use it. My surgeon and dietician say use only products that have Whey Protein Isolate as the first ingredient. This product has it as the second ingredient of their Protein mix - the first being collagen (an incomplete form of protein). Water is the first ingredient and the protein mix is the 2nd ingredient. Sounds like it's not a very good source of usable protein.

    Oh okay, thanks!!

  4. Thanks for the suggestion and OMG does that sound REALLY Good but I am also getting off carbonation drinks also carbonation is bad for womens bones. It depletes the Calcium. So now that my taste buds are longing for Diet Coke, I have to decline. BUMMER!>!>!>:(

Yeah, I was thinking the blender would take out most of the carbonation. It's probably best to just avoid it altogether, huh? Well, we will get there.... lol! Soon!! Go July!! :)

  5. Please remove me from the July Firecrackers list.....I have decided on a different route. I'm going to try insurance first and see if I can get them to approve me. So my surgery won't be until next year :( I wish I could have been on the losers bench with all of you but I guess I will just have to sit this one out....But my day is coming!!!!! Congratulations to you all! I'm wishing you all the best!

Well, best of luck to you with you insurance!! I hope it all works out for you. Keep us posted :)

  6. I am on my fourth day SOBER from a Diet Coke addiction, just ask my family, they know I was addicted, Making the appointment to have surgery is the only thing that motivated me enough to kick and go cold turkey, the first week I cut down then went cold turkey. I have unbelievable headaches that I am chasing with ibuprophen and drinking excessive Water that equaled what I drank in diet coke a day. I have heartburn, an emt told me my body was so used to have diet coke by the hour with so much carbonated acid the stomach made more acid to digest it. I am waiting for that to subside now that I am not drinking carvonated drinks and boy do I miss them. I can tell other side effects such as my nose/sinus are not dry anymore, and my digestive track changes too, did not know I was going to go through all this but glad I am on the road to clean my system of diet coke, so I am ready for surgery when it finally comes. This road is not nice but is going smoother than I thought it would. KUDOS to anyone else who is withdrawing too.

Dang, girl! You were addicted! I didn't drink it on a daily basis, but I do miss it. I'm trying to find something else to fill that void but it's just not working. Meh.

You know, you could always get the caffeine free Diet Coke and toss it in a blender with ice... :) I may be trying that...

  7. Actually, I'm starting day 3 of my pre-op diet and the only problem I am having is eating everything that I am supposed to. I get 4 shakes per day plus 6 other food items. I've been able to do the 4 and 4, but it's tough getting the other 2 food items in a day because I'm so full!

That's kind of a nice problem to have. How many diets do people get to complain about being too full! That's awesome!! :)

  8. Good Morning July Firecrackers!!!

I made it to Mexico safely... Yesterday, I had pre-op testing, which didn't take long at all AND there's another sleever here with me!!! biggrin.gif So I'll either be first or second, depending on who the doctor chooses first. I still have those last moment jitters.... I sure as soon as my mom & I pray they'll go away. Everyone has been so nice, caring, and seem very experienced. I believe I'm in good hands.... I'm glad I finally had the guts to DO it instead of talking, wishing, and failing at a million other methods before.... Anyways, I'll be back post-op to give a more detailed post!

How exciting!!! :) Can't wait for your update.

  9. Hey all! :) I am getting sleeved on July 18, just 18 little days away! I'm so excited! I am glad I found this thread because a lot of the things I've read on here are from older people or people who are far more overweight so it's hard to compare how fast I will be healing, etc.

I am having my surgery on a Monday and am planning on returning to work the following Monday.

I think the thing I'm most worried about is the skin afterwards. I keep telling myself that since I'm younger it will bounce back over time but I think I might be kidding myself. lol. Any tips from those who have already been sleeved?

  10. I was ALL ABOUT posting in June but I am currently so bummed about the way things have progressed I'm afraid to get my hopes up. I got officially approved last Thursday afternoon (I know it was afternoon because it was the 2nd of my daily calls to the insurance company - thank goodness they don't check THAT behavior for the Psych eval!) but the insurance girl at my surgeon's office (who also does the scheduling) is on vacation until next Tuesday. She had told me that I'd be able to have it in June and I scheduled vacations, a church trip, a concert... all kinds of things for July! Now I'm afraid to even guess when everything will happen! My authorization runs out August 19th so it has to be before that but I'm stressing like crazy about trying to schedule a trip before or after surgery with all of the pre and post op appointments, etc.

Ok, enough whining. Someone posted here about having their fridge stocked with all the Clear Liquids possible. What types of things has everyone been buying? I am still trying all of the various Protein powders but I'm wondering what everyone else is planning to use in the beginning. I'll be fine once I get to the eggs, grilled chicken, string cheese phase but until then what does everyone else have planned besides cream of wheat, sugar free pudding and strained cream of chicken Soup?

I took a browse through the recipes section and there are a TON of recipes for all the stages. The consensus over there seems to be for the full liquids stage, people are taking Soups (even chunky soups) and tossing them in the blender with some extra liquid (Water or broth). Some people have even taken chili and done the same thing. anything you can get to liquid form. :)

  11. Well, I finally tried them! Here's my opinion on them. lol. As soon as I opened the bag, I thought I was going to puke. The smell is WRETCHED!! I had read that you have to rinse them a lot so I put them in a colander, turned on the cold Water and walked away. That smell was SO awful! So I came back a few minutes later, the smell was gone and the noodles actually have no taste at all. They have the texture of spaghetti noodles that are slightly overcooked. I put some of my homemade spaghetti sauce on them and I just couldn't bring myself to eat more than a few bites. The taste really was fine, like I said they don't have a taste. But it was just that smell from the beginning that I couldn't get over. If you have someone else open the bag and rinse them for you, you should be fine. They actually taste like nothing. It was just a mental thing for me. lol

    Hope that helps someone =P

  12. It is soooo yummy! They take the rotissary chicken they sell and chunk it up. They put pepper in it and mayo, celery, onion and I don't know what else, but it is FANTASTIC!! If you like chicken salad, you should get some.

BUT, don't eat the celery in it cuz us sleever's are suppose to have raw celery.

It is in the area with their made stuff, like the rolls and trays.

Get some, you will not be disappointed!! :D

    Kelly

Awesome! Thanks for that info. I will definitely be checking it out soon. I don't much care for celery anyway, so picking around it won't be a problem :P

  13. For a couple of years now, I have really liked having the Meijer brand Crystal Quenchers Water. They have different flavors like black cherry, kiwi strawberry, lime, grape, etc. No caffeine, No Sodium, No Calories. The only problem - it's carbonated.

Solution: shake the living daylights out of it so it goes flat!

And, it's not sweet like crystal light is.

LOL! So if I shake 30 bottles, does that count as half an hour of exercise? ;)
