    72 Hour Post Op

Sounds normal to me. You had a hernia repair also, so this adds to the swelling etc. I took GasX chewables, and tried to walk as much as possible. Take your pain meds and rest also!!!

How Long Before Returning To Work

My surgery date was 12/21 and I returned to work on 12/27. I wish I could've had a couple more days off, but didn't have any more sick time.
  5. I was banded on 12/21/11 and I've lost 20 lbs. so far.

    Post Op

Oh sweetie, I can totally relate. I'm 11 days post op, and was absolutely in tears the first four days. I spent Christmas day sitting drinking chicken broth while the rest of my family ate a huge breakfast! It was terrible. Like the PP said, it's definitely like saying good bye to an old friend. I've had food issues ever since I was 9. I lived with my Grandma and she bought me whatever kind of food that I wanted, which of course was pure junk being a kid! I remember the happiness I felt just sitting in front of the TV eating a whole bag of snack size Snickers! I'm now 32, and have dealt with food addiction ever since. This is a very long journey that we have just started. Each day is going to get a little bit better. You are very young and quite pretty I might add, and you've made a wonderful decision for yourself!!! You'll definitely be able to eat again. Once you start to lose weight, your self esteem is going to sky rocket, and you won't look at food the same way. I wish you the best, and if you feel like talking/venting or whatever, drop me an email at oliversmomma@live.com Best of luck to you!!!!

    Night Time Heart Burn?

I've had GERD ever since I had my son in 2006. I've taken Prilosec since then. I was banded on 12/21 and haven't had it since surgery. I had heart burn this morning and took some Pepcid Complete, and it helped. It's just at night? Has it been everyday since surgery? Is it possibly related to something you eat or drink?
  8. My surgery was on Dec. 21st. Today is really the first day I've felt back to normal. Still some pain at port site, but feeling better. Even though the band is a laproscopic surgery and usually same day, it's still major surgery! Just listen to your body. It's going to tell you what you can do. Today, I felt great when I got up, so I decided to clean the house and get the Christmas decorations down. Only got the kitchen cleaned up and some laundry done, and I felt wiped out! I stopped right when I started feeling bad. This is a major part of this whole journey and healing is crucial. I hope you start feeling better!!!!

Message me if ya wanna talk/vent. Hope this helps!!
  10. I don't have any strips either. Just glue like stuff on top. They are still pretty painful and range from about 1/2 inch to 3 1/2 inches. I have a total of 5.

  13. The shoulder pain is definitely annoying! What I've been doing is taking two gasx chewables right when it hits, and walking around a bit. Seems to help a little. I've noticed some people have mentioned the heating pad. I might break that on out too and see if it helps!

    2 Days Post Surgery

Hey Jen! Thank you for sharing your blog! I was banded on Wednesday, and can totally relate to everything you've posted! I finally started to feel a little better today. Today is actually the first day I've felt any hunger, but I drink a couple sips of broth or my protein shake, and I'm satisfied. Been struggling a bit with the left shoulder pain so many have mentioned, but when it starts, I make myself get up and walk. GasX has also become my best friend. lol Thanks for sharing again, and glad to know we are in this journey together! Merry Christmas and God Bless
  15. Hope the protein works! If you can make a cheesecake and not eat any, consider yourself one tough cookie!!!! Hoping each day gets easier for you. I just keep telling myself in a couple weeks, things will be so much better! Plus, we'll be doing so good and all the people that overate at Christmas will be wishing they would've followed in our footsteps!
