    3 years since being banded, I have some erosion now. Just found out this week.

    I had my band in Dec 2009 and yes I lost a good deal of weight...not all that I wanted. I was getting stuck and puking regularly. On April 27 I had my band removed and gastric sleeve revision. I am happy to be free of the band and all of those weird feelings u talked about. The scales are moving again slowly... and I am happy!

    I told when asked about my weightloss. Other than that, I seen no reason for it to be brought up. It's not like I went around telling people about my gallbladder removal.

    So yesterday we did a family day at the beach/boardwalk. What I struggled with is not being part off the whole'boardwalk experience', eating ice cream, taffy, pizza, hot dogs etc. Its odd because i hate taffy, and was never a big ice cream fan. But being in that environment I just felt like I couldn't be part of the crowd. I felt like I was a 'burden' to my family because I was the outlier who they needed to make sure the menu offered something for me.
    It was a lot at play mentally for me. I'm not depressed about it, I only felt that way in that moment. And for how long it lasted, again, for as long as I was on the boardwalk. Once we were gone, it's not an issue.
    I'll say the other thing that I was keenly aware of was how many obese people I saw. It made me thankful for where I am now and at peace with the work that it's taking.

    Tonight I went to "Two Step Tuesday" at a local country western bar and took a $2 dance lesson - yes, 2 step which I have never attempted before. Here was the coolest part - I had the courage to go alone and so my partner was the hottest guy in the place... about 6'2", tall, dark, handsome and did I mention...hot! and... he could dance!
    Too bad he is closer to my son's age than mine, but It was a fun hour of being in dance frames called stuff like "the cuddle position". I could get used to this.
    Know where I will be next Tuesday evening?!?

    I seriously have to wonder what people did pre op. Like did you not do your research? Did you not know what you were getting into? Did you wake up one morning and think "hmmm I think I'll have weight loss surgery today"

    Agreed, I am 6" and bigger boned. I chose a size 12. I think I would look sickly if I wore anything smaller. I would like to go as small as I can without looking like I have a problem however.

    I am very sorry for the confusion and my over-opinionated comments.
    If I were 1/2 as knowledgeable as I think I am then I'd be chilling with The Chuckster.....and enjoying a life of supreme fitness and athletic zeal.
    Thanks for your kind words. 4+ months to go until surgery. We're all gonna make it.....with or without the guidance of our guru, The Chuckster.
    Let's do dis ting !!!!!

    Folks.....I feel like an ass that folks may think that I believe that people who have WLS surgery are lazy. Please know that is not the case. Far from it. I'd probably knock somebody out if they called me lazy right now with the stuff I'm working through.
    I am only going through a small fraction of what others have detailed they are fighting through.
    I should have been more clear. Sometimes what I think I'm typing and what actually comes through are different things. The laptop is great. The pad is another beast entirely.
    It is a true blessing indeed.
    I'm scared of the future.......and my potential future mistakes. I am less scared, though, after deciding to get on with the WLS and do the things that support a healthy life.

    I was not trying to be judgmental of anyone having WLS. Not at all.
    I was looking at what he posted and thinking that of everything he said he did.....if he's held it together for 4 years......was that he corrected his thoughts as well as his actions. He also put forth tremendous effort (or stated he did).
    My statement was that most folks here do the same things and are successful.......however there are some that seem to be lazy.....not wanting to expend the effort.....and waiting for a miracle.
    I'm sorry, but I don't know what else to call it. Some of the folks say it about themselves. They don't hurt....they just don't like exercise. "I just want to lose the weight and not worry about going to a gym" (recent post) They don't like the diets the nutritionist puts them on and are posting about eating pizza instead. As I stated....this is some......not most. Surely you've seen these type of posts.
    Not lazy that they've decided to have WLS.
    Lazy that they don't utilize the help we are being offered by our teams of nutritionists, phycological help, exercise training before and after the WLS. Lazy that they seem to only want the surgery and that's it. Hopefully the bariatric staff is able to hold off and help them further before surgery. I've seen a few posts like this on here.
    To use your boat analogy.......we all are in the same boat in the sense we are either waiting for surgery or living after surgery.....all in the same boat, yes........most of us are eager to grab a paddle and row as hard as we are able while some of us are not.

    Totally agree with @CanyonBaby. This really is a journey you both go through together. If you already don't have support, you won't likely get it diwn the road.
    My husband is obese as well and really needs to do something for himself but in the meantime I do not pressure him. He will make the appropriate changes as he becomes more ready.
    As far as I go, he is so proud of the progress I have made that he tells my story all the time. We had to see my bariatric doctor this week because I am having a very difficult time eating much of anything following another surgery. My husband went on and on about how engaged I am in this journey, whether it be a support group lead role or simply helping spread the word. My doctor said to my husband that it is really refreshing to see a spouse so excited for his significant other. He really is my biggest supporter. He is my very best friend and has done nothing but support my choices along the way. I would like to think most healthy strong marriages become stronger after this type of life changing event.

    I am just a little over 5 weeks out from VSG today, I have been so hungry!! I feel like I could eat all day. I am doing ok-I am at 700 calories and have hit 68 grams of Protein so far. I haven't gone over 600 calories since surgery. I have also been weepy and hormonal today-FYI had a partial hysterectomy 4 years ago-it could be PMS but I have no way of tracking it. I'm just a whiny butt today!!
    Thanks for listening to me whine. Just needed to get that out!!

    Biotin will not stop hair loss but it CAN help what you lose grow back faster. One thing you can do to help is to make sure you get your Protein in every day. Lack of Protein will lead to more shedding of your hair. Sorry there is no prevention for the shedding altogether but it is only temporary.

    I was so thrilled when I slipped into a size 16, I was also a 22 moving up to 24 when I started. I cried my eyes out in the dressing room that day, in shock. I just finally got rid of 6 bags of clothes that I have not worn in months, but it was so hard to just let them go. Being that I am now comfortable in a 14, the size 22 just cannot work anymore with me ????
    Congrats!

    Hi everyone,
    It's been a long time since I've visited the site but I thought I'd come over to share my recent success.
    I just hit my 8 month mark last week and as of today, I am down a total of 86lbs!!! I'm beyond thrilled!
    Please allow me to list all of the recent success that I've seen in non-scale form:
    * down to a size 16 from a 24
    * I was able to get on the rides at six flags three weeks ago (it's been 7 years since I've been able to fit)
    * I fit on the plane, comfortably
    * I've been working out 2-3 times a week
    * I'm happy!
    Just needed to share, hope everyone is well!
