  1. I'm also sensitive and needed more time between adjustments and stayed on full liquids. Stressing about it can cause some lingering symptoms also. Yes, you should see your doctor, but also try to relax a bit and give your body time to adjust. You do need to be able to get liquids in though, definitely!
  2. Wow, good for you on both counts!! What's your secret though? I haven't been on a date in 6 years! Seriously, I'm just going to be one of those old cat ladies, sitting on her porch with cats everywhere, doing word search puzzles. LOL

    night time snacking

I was always a night snacker, but the band cured me of tha. Eating after dinner just doesn't agree with me anymore. If I feel hungry, I grab something to drink. It's usually that I'm thirsty and not hungry anyway. Just old habits die hard. My best advice is to keep the snacky foods out of the house. If it isn't there, you can't eat it. I know easier said than done, but the harder you try now, the easier it will get later on.
  4. Some doctors like to fill on a schedule and some will fill as needed. I did a few on schedule and then pretty much let my body (and hunger) dictate when I needed any further fills. Eggs are definitely a tough food for many bandsters to tolerate. I can barely get down very lightly poached eggs, but I rarely even try anymore. There is going to be a lot of trial and error for you to figure out what foods you can and cannot tolerate over time. Be prepared to give up some loved foods (even if healthy). You'll eventually get to the point where food isn't much about taste and just something you need. You'll know when you're there.
  5. I went through something very similar at about 1 year post banding. I was doing everything right (so I thought) and following all the rules, but I'd feel nauseous after eating small amounts of nearly anything. There were days when even liquids made me feel sick. It took months of very fast weight loss but also some trial and error (and talking to my doctor) to figure out that it was all in my head. It's almost like I had become so addicted to the weight loss that I didn't want to eat. I still struggle with it sometimes (long recovered anorexic, so makes sense). Yes, obviously you need to talk to your doctor and make sure there is nothing wrong physically, but it very well could be "all in your head." I would never think that possible if I hadn't gone through it. If it helps at all, a strategy that worked for me was to give up the 3 meals a day plan and focus on getting in just 1 or 2 bites at a time and keeping that in for a few hours and trying again. I counted calories and not meals and still eat more that way on a daily basis. Hope you feel better and good luck!

    My goal reward system

Great job! My reward has always been smaller jeans staring at me in the closet saying "WEAR ME!" I used to keep 2 or 3 sizes at a time, but now it's just 1 size. Actually, I don't have any smaller anymore since I finally fit into my goal size. For some reason, the jean size has always meant the most to me, so smaller jeans was plenty enough of a reward. Congrats and keep up the great work!
  7. Oh my that left shoulder pain. Of all things and possibilities, THAT was by far the worst (and no one told me). I hope your surgery goes well and congrats on beginning your journey. Keep looking forward and never back.

    I am STARVING!!! OMG!

It's a rough stage to get through, but you will. We all survived it. It's like childbirth...the memory of the pain eventually fades. Well, ok, not really. What helped me get through it was NO cooking and no watching others eat or even smelling food. My son (older teen) was on his own for feeding himself, because I couldn't take seeing it or smelling it. If your family has to live on PB&J or cold cereal for a few weeks, then let them! Right now, it's all about you and getting through post surgery safely and smartly.

Cant we all just get along ?!

Wow! I laughed at lunch meat also. I find I sometimes have more ability to zip my lip at noncompliance issues, and sometimes I don't (at which point I leave the site rather than open my often BIG mouth). For me, there is a fine line between being blatantly noncompliant and willfully oblivious versus being uninformed or sincerely seeking advice (and not affirmation). I try to keep that in mind and kill them with kindness. Otherwise, it's back to, again, keeping my big mouth shut.

    drinking?

If you're not hurting, you're doing just fine. Just stay away from carbonated beverages for as long as you can. I think I waited 6 months to a year before even trying them but have no problem now.

    Flu Shots

I get a flu shot every year. I got a stomach bug in the middle of the night shortly after being banded. It hit me before I could think to take something for the vomiting, but I doubt it would have helped. Scared me to death! I called the doctor, but they assured me it was doubtful it did any damage and just to go see them or call if I felt anything off (which I didn't).

Any suggestions on good work out gear?

I like the workout gear at both JCPenney and Old Navy, but my most important item is my bra: Bali Comfort Revolution Smart Sizes Shaping Wirefree Bra. It's so comfortable yet holds everything where it should. I usually put a regular sports bra on over it for extra support and moisture control when outdoors. I get the "shaping" one with foam cups to give the extra support. Those jiggly bits need all the help they can get.

    ??Question?? for the VETERANS

Only cucumber gives me some burping, but that's normal really for cucumber.

    Ode to Milk

Oh no! Maybe with time your love affair with milk can continue. I was a milkaholic (skim at least) but cut back after surgery. I can and do drink it pretty freely now, thank goodness.

    Be Prepared

Oh my. I'm so sorry this happened to you and hope you heal quickly and can move on. I've been lightly thinking about a little work myself (leaning more towards against than for), but this pretty much has me definitely NOT going for it. Thanks for sharing, and again I"m so sorry.
