    Hey

I was sleeved on Dec 1st and I have stalled for the last week. I know that I will eventually start losing again. I have increased my calories as well as I can and between yesteday and today I have walked over 5 miles. I am hoping this will past soon. I do not have buyer's remorse as even though I am not losing right now, I have not put on any weight and when can I say that I have lost 40+ pounds in 2 months. I have already at my lowest weight in 23 years. I am almost at my halfway mark. Hang in there.
  2. My insurance had a $750 deductible and $750 out of pocket then it covered 100%. My deductible was meet with prior doctor's visits, sleep study. I met the out of pocket with the surgery. This year the deductible increased to $1700.

    I has a cold - questions

My best suggestion is to contact your doctor's office. They would be able to recommended what would be best and safe for you to take at this time.

    December 2010 Sleevers!

I was sleeved Dec 1st and down a total of 42 lbs. I am on regular foods but I am lucky to eat more then 1/4 c at a time. This is making it hard to get past 500 calories in a day. I am getting in my 60 grams of protein and but still a little low on the fluids. I work all day on phones and keep forgetting to drink between the back to back calls. I have been stalled at 188 for a week. I am hoping this wont last long. I am still at my lowest weight since 1988 and I am buying clothes in regular stores--no more lane bryant or avenue for me. Hanging in there.
  5. Gee, I wish I had that problem. I am just the opposite. I am taking miralax just to keep things moving smoothly.

    The Vets Didn't Lie

Every doctor is different. I know I have heard stories of people experience serious gas pain but not all will have the same experience. I did not have any gas pain at all. But I did take the advice and walked. Our doctor wanted us to walk as soon as possible after we got to our room, within 2 -4 hours and to walk every 2-4 hours. I did the walking almost every hour for 10-15 minutes. I actually ran the battery down in my iv as it was unplugged so often.

    Family Photos

Those are great pictures. You have been a great inspiration and so supportive to all us in need. You have a very generous heart and so willing share your wisdom. I am going through a stall and going back to reread your posts to help me to push through this. I can't wait to post pictures when I am goal. Thank you.

    Stall...for how long?

I have been stalled for the last week myself. Have you done your measurements. I stalled around 3 weeks but when I checked my measurements-I had lost another 7 inches. Sunday is my day to measure again but I have noticed wierd indentations in my stomach where the fat has melted away. Why can't Mother Nature make it go away all nice and neat instead some here and some there. Hang in there it is frustrating but we are not gaining. I weigh now the same I did 23 years ago. For me that is a great accomplishment in the short time I have been sleeved.
  11. We are very similary. I started my journey at 232 and I am 5'4". I am currently stalled at 188 but I am wanting to get down to between 125 or 130. I think I will keep changing this goal as time goes by but 125 is my absolute lowest I want to be. Sizes are so different then what they were 30 years ago. Clothing size is just a number, the goal is being healthy and happy with wear we are.
  12. Congrats....I have been in a stall for this past week, stuck at 188. After having a great meeting with the nutritionist for my 6 week followup and she documented an average of 4.5 lbs a week and now nothing. But I have not gained and hopefully the weather will warm up so I can get out and walk some more.

    Anyone been approved by Aetna?

I did the 6 month wit PCP. I was only required to do just one time with the nutritionist. If you are on the 3 month plan, it has to be 90 days from the first to last appointment which would be one more more for you. I was approved within 24 hours with Aetna.

    Scared and indecisive

When I started out, I did not know anything regarding the sleeve. I was going to get the band but my insurance had recently approved the sleeve and my doctor recommended it. I did my research as I only a short time to make my decision to turn into insurance. I am never made a better decision than getting the sleeve. This was the best decision of my life. You really need to see someone to see why you keep sabotaging yourself. If you are really serious about improving your health, you would be really do anything to make this happen. I am focusing on my end results. I am getting healthier and have never regreting making this decision.

    Should I dye my hair?

I am pretty much a natural redhead but with too many freaking whites rearing their ugliness...I go with a medium auburn that puts me pretty close to my natural color so I don't have to do the roots too often. I started coloring mine about 4 weeks after surgery. The whites were getting way to bad. My hair had been coming out even prior to surgery so I started taking biotin. I have noticed that it is not coming out as much now. I have been growing my hair out for 1 1/2 years so I am getting so ready for a new hair style.
  16. I have been using the mirilax twice a week. This was used for preop the night before surgery. I had to take the entire 7 day dose mixed with gatorade. Everything came out clean as a whistle. After surgery, this has just been enough to keep me soft and easy going. What I like is that you can mix it with Water, juice or other liquid and you cannot taste it. Good Luck in whatever you try.
  17. are you doing to much "working". I know I got some sharp pains around 4 weeks but I was bending over too much, doing laundry, more things than what I was cleared to do. I spent a day not doing anything except walking and buy the next day, I was much better. It was just my body, saying "hey stupid, you just recently had major stomach surgery....take it easy" If it continues definately call your doctor.

    Changing avatar

It is showing in mine the blue face. So it is working now.
  19. My surgery was done by Dr Lee Scmitt at St Vincent's East Hospital in Birmingham, AL. The staff at both the doctor's office and hospital is wonderful. Both doctor and facility is a Bariatric Center of Excellence. My insurance requires that we have to use a center of excellence facillity to be covered. We have a monthly support group which is great.
  20. It will depend on the the type of job you have. I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back to work the following Wednesday. I work from home as a customer service rep 4 days a week/10 hours days. I was definately tired but I went to bed early alot and I got up from my desk every hour the first week and walked during my lunch time. I had a high tolerance of pain so I felt ready to go back to work.
  21. I was just laying on the table only. They are just testing your heart resting rate. Good Luck.

    Survived

In the hospital I faithfully got Torodol (sp) shots every 4 hours. I hardly felt any discomfortment except getting in and out of their bed. I was prescribed liquid Loratab for at home. Then I took children's liquid tylenol as needed.

    Just because

You look great!! Last night I bought size L pajamas....for my this is such a great thing to be able to shop in the "regular sizes" and not have an X listed in the size at all. I finally weigh what I did 1988. I still have a ways to go to get to my "wedding weight" and then I plan to go lower. I am rocking the sleeve and following your example. Thanks for being such a great example!!!!
  24. Instead of thinking of the negatives, think of the reason you made this decision. No matter where you have surgery there are risk, but the benefits are so worth it. I don't know how hold your kids are, but most likely they will be fine. Normally I am a "Nervous Nelly" but for my surgery, I did not have any hesitation, doubts or anything. It was the best decision. I am already healthier and feel so much better about myself. Don't panic, if you want write down all the reason on why you want this surgery and anytime you start with the "what if's think of the what if's if you don't have this surgery. Good Luck and keep us posted.
  25. When I first started, I was planning the lap band as my insurance did not cover the sleeve. Actually the sleeve wasn't even discussed much at the seminar as not many insurances was covering it. I had to 6 months with my pcp first so I waited to met with the surgeon until I completed my 6 months. By that time, my insurance updated and now covers the sleeve. The doctor recommended the sleeve so I had to do some research as all my paperwork was being gathered. I was sleeved Dec 1st and have no regrets whatsoever at all. After reading many post of people who had the band and had complications and have now had revisions to the sleeve makes me even more grateful that I made the right decision. I am now at my lowest weight since 1988. I was able to by a size L flannel pajamas tonight. I know that this weight will never come back on. Trust in your decision. Good Luck
