  1. The only thing that saved me was the liquid protein shots from Walmart (or GNC). I used the Body Fortress Super Whey Protein Shot. It has 26g protein, 110 cal, no sugar or aspertame. I get them in 6 packs for less than $12 at Wallyworld...LOL!

    Chocolate Craving?

You can try the chocolate whey crisps. They are very good and you can eat them plain or add them to pudding or cottage cheese or anything you want for that chocolate crunch. I just found these at the Arnold Expo and I am hooked already!
  5. I eat almost exclusively vegan foods right now. They seem to agree with my new tummy the best. I eat the Morningstar Farms products...grillers (hamburgers), veggie burgers, sausage patties and riblets. The protein is so much higher, fat & carbs are lower and they taste great! They even taste good right out of the microwave so I take them to work. Besides these, I drink Silk milk, eat whey crisps in my foods and eat a lot of Atkins bars.

    High Protein

Went to the Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Expo yesterday and found a new protein that is awesome. They are called protein crisps and are basically the little rice crispies that are in the protein bars. They are very low carb, high protein and easy to eat. They come in regular or chocolate and you can eat them plain, add them to your yogurt or pudding or even cook/bake with them. They have great reviews and I actually liked them alot. If your interested, their website is Whey Crisps - WheyCrisps.com. Hope this helps!!!
  8. Hello all. I am just about to hit my 5 week post op and I have a crazy question. My stomach seems to spend all its concentration on trying to be louder than the kids. It seems to have doubled up on its efforts to embarrass me as often as possible. The noises are so loud and so often that EVERYONE hears them. When I am in the office at work, it seems to go into overdrive. People have even heard it over the phone!!! I was wondering if everyone has this issue and if so, when does it start to subside? Is there anything I can do to calm the beast? Thanks!!!
  9. The sugar free Smuckers is made with Splenda and is Soooooooo good! We will always have to watch what we eat, or else we risk becoming the same as we were before. The surgery is just another tool in our arsenol to combat our weight problems. The good thing is that once we reach our goal, we can stop the counting and just eat sensibly. Hopefully by then we will have become accostomed to our new eating habits and can stay on track. I for one find it easy to track my foods online (myplate.com) and actually like to go back and see how my week was. I was never one to write anything down but now I find myself doing it like I have been doing it all my life...LOL!
  10. I had the catheter and it stayed in for 2 days. When they did remove it I had till the end if the day to pee or it went back in. Believe me, I drank and tried and drank and tried until I peed...LOL!
  11. I am STILL nervous whenever I try anything new or cooked in a different way. I think this is natural (and healthy) and keeps us on the right path for as long as possible!
  12. I try to keep mine down in the 30's or 40's. I have some days that hit the 60's but my NET carbs are always much, much lower due to the Atkins Protein Bars I eat everyday. These make the difference between my carbs and my NET carbs usually 20g less so I am always real low in carbs. I am trying to keep it low until I reach my goal!

    I've blown it this week.

I drink Silk milk in the morning while the kids have the regular fat free milk. For lunch I have a Protein bar at work. For dinner, the kids have the usual (less of it and cooked healthier...no more frying, french fries, two sandwiches, etc). I make myself a Morningstar Farms product (chicken, veggie patty, meatballs, riblet). I am eating a normal (although VERY high protein, low bad crap) dinner with them so we are still eating as a family. Since mine all cook in 5 minutes or so in a small frypan with spray instead of oil, it is easy to make two different items. I still refuse to eat any breads, pastas or cereals until I am out of my "honeymoon" period. Good Luck!!!
  15. Congrats!!! I have not tried eating "out" yet but hope I can do as good as you did!

    High Protein, Low Calorie Bars

Laura, they vary a little bit but the Atkins Advantage Chocolate PB Bar (which I have the box here at my desk...LOL) says 18g protein, 1g sugar, 240 cal, total carb is 22g but net carb is only 2g. The rest are similar in stats. They are pretty good and make great lunches. I pay $6.86 a 5pk box for the 60g 60g bars. (not including the $1 off coupons I use which makes them $5.86)
  17. I had it real bad for weeks and my surgeon said that it was just the body getting used having everything moved around inside during the surgery and all the gas used. He promised it would go away and sure enough, one day it was just gone. Good luck!

    High Protein, Low Calorie Bars

Scrambled eggs were not what I expected

I still do not eat regular eggs. I enjoy eggbeaters instead. They fry up nice with some spray instead of butter and stay much fluffier.

    Out of the twos!

    Congrats and welcome to onederland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. I have been pretty steady around 202-204 for almost 2 weeks and then all of a sudden this morning I am at 198.5!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot even believe it!!! I have not weighed this little since Jr High (even then I think I was over 200)!!! I also got measured yesterday and found my neck went down 2 cm (almost an inch), my waist went down 15 cm (6 inch), and my hips are down 8.5 cm (4 inch)! :drool5:
  22. Thanks everyone. Makes all that time walking on the treadmill seem worthwhile finally...LOL!
  23. Thanks everyone....so excited!!! Wingrider, I was sleeved on Dec 17th, and hope to get down to 160 before I start hitting the weights and adding some muscle back on.
  24. Well, I am happy to say that when i did my morning weigh in today I am at 205....that is 50 pounds down from my starting point!!!! (19 pre-surgery, 31 after). I am so excited, I have officially lost more than my 4 year old weighs. My kids and I tried imaging me walking around with my little one strapped to me! 6 more pounds until I am in the onederland club!! Another 50 pounds till I hit my goal!!!

    Rumbling

Yes, I had the same thing and it was so LOUD and often. I was so embarrassed at work. Anytime I was in a meeting the noises would start and everyone would pretend they didn't hear them until a client said something during a conference call!!! I asked my doctor about them and he said it is perfectly normal as our bodies are trying to adjust to the trauma and figure out where everything is now. I can say that it does just seem to disappear one day, at least about 95%.
