  1. I too, was a diabetic before my surgery and took 1000 mg of Metformin as well. One week after my surgery, no need for medication any more! Losing weight will drastically lower your levels! Try your best to stay away from WHITE foods as they will raise your glucose levels. Go for walks, as walking will lower your levels! Eat a well balanced diet and you will be fine. I agree with Apple, you need to have some Protein. But, limit it to 3 oz of lean protein per meal. I can't believe your Dr. would tell you not to eat protein! WOW! Keep us posted on your journey! Kelly
  2. Good Job!! You can really tell a difference!! Keep it up! Kelly :D
  3. I don't really have a problem with liquids and never have. They have always gone down just fine. I am almost a month out (on Monday!!) and can take 2-3 big mouthfulls and be fine. I usually have a gurgle in my throat afterwards when driniking anything, like air or something, but it is all good! Dosen't hurt or come back up. Kelly
  4. Hi Holly! Thanks for your response! I actually don't get to go to soft foods until my nut calls me on Monday. I am sure she will let me advance tho! I have been experimenting with a couple things. I have eaten cottage cheese, thinned refried Beans and a few bites of salmon just to "test the waters" and have done ok recently. Earlier, the cottage cheese and beans were sitting pretty heavy, I think maybe I was still too swollen for it, but now, I seem fine! I am hoping that I can eat eggs and not have issues like some do. chicken salad still does not work for me tho! I am very sad because I love chicken and this is going to be a hard adjustment if I can not eat it anymore!!!! I have been drinking low carb slim fast which is on my plan for extra calories. I also was introduced to Premier Protein powder by a co-worker. I hate Protein drinks, but this one is really not bad. I don't tast the protein in it at all. I mix it with 4 oz Water and 4 oz soy milk and it is not too thick and gives me like 30 grams protein in that little drink! I also am eating something about every 2 hours. Even though it is only like a bite or two. I do somthing. A shake or a few bites of anything. It seems to be helping! Kelly
  5. I am hungry all of the time, but still less than a month out. Will be 4 weeks on Monday! I think maybe once I get to eat more solid food (still on purees), I will feel more satisfied. Fingers crossed!!! I have only been drinking liquids and pureed foods for this last month and those do not stick with you for long! I did eat a few small bites of salmon last night a chewed and chewed and chewed it till it was pureed in my mouth!! It was heaven! And I noticed that I didn't get hungry before bed like I normally do, so maybe when I get to go to soft foods next week, my hunger issues will subside. I pray that they will. I wanted this surgery so badly because I was hungry all the damn time and would eat. Well, now I can't eat and am still hungry! I just hope it gets better! Good luck to you! Kelly
  6. I love puppies!! I have a weiner dog! Kelly
  7. Welcome Red Velvet Gurlfriend!! Kelly
  8. Hi Meggie!! I live in Folsom in the Sacramento Valley! I have to go to Richmond on June 16th do you live close to there? If so, maybe we could meet somewhere! Hugs, Kelly
  9. They make generic Nexium??? Since when? Thanks, Kelly
  10. My dr. said no core work for 6 weeks. He will check me at my 6 week check up to see how I am progressing and we will go from there! 10 lb lifting restriction for first 2 weeks, 20 lbs till week 4. 30 lbs till week 6. Kelly
  11. For the past 2 weeks, I have only spent about $55 at the store. I use to spend about $120 or more. Isn't that crazy!! It is just my husband and I. I am still on pureed foods and only eating about 3 bites of anything, so it will go up later, but I am amazed that my bill was cut in more than half! Love it! Kelly
  12. That is a GREAT idea!!! I am only eating 1/4 c right now, but it still gets cold before I can eat it! UGGGGHHH! Kelly
  13. Aww honey, I know exactly how you feel!!! I too am from another state and don't have anyone here but my husband! It is really hard sometimes. People on this forum know what we are going thru and although it is not the same as a parent or close sibling, they really do care! I will be more than happy to lend an ear if you need a friend! Email me anytime! I am a few days away from being a month out and know how you feel about the never being able to eat thing! I can barely eat now! I have heard that it gets better and that eventually we can have pizza and cheeseburger's again, just not a whole pizza and big ass cheeseburger's!! LOL Hugs, Kelly
  14. CONGRATS!! I will be saving a spot for you on the loser's bench! Kelly
  15. I can drink and drink and feel no restriction on liquids. But I can not eat 1/4 c of anything pureed (that is my stagee now) It is weird! I can also only take about 3 small bites of cottage cheese and I am FINISHED! Kelly
  16. Congrats on being overweight!! LOL Kelly
  17. i am 24 days out and I still am hungry!!! I am only on the pureed food stage and think this is why. Now, I don't get that RAVENOUS hunger like before surgery, but I still am hungry damn near all the time. I am sure it is because all my food intake is liquidy. Noting is solid and my protein is not much at all...maybe 2-3 bites and I am done! I am sure when we are able to consume more solid food and more of it, it will get better. I take my Nexium every morning and I still am hungry, so I know that is not the problem!! Good luck to you! Kelly
  18. My nut says to measure not weigh. Good luck! Kelly
  19. I too get a lot of hiccups! Sometimes it is just 4-5 of them when I eat, can't be that I am full only after 1-2 small bites. Sometimes, I get them just sitting around. They are sure annoying! I also gurgle alot in my throat after drinking. That is really annoying! It sounds like a sink draining!! LOL Kelly
  20. My dr and case mgr told me that if I ever found myself gaining or slipping a year or two after surgery, to just go back to basics. That would start the losing process all over again. So, go back to Protein first, exercise and drink your Water. You should lose on that! Good luck! Kelly
  21. Mine is sucking too. And let me tell you, after surgery, when you have gas pains, IT IS HARD TO DO!!! OMG it hurts!! Mine was ten times repeatedly an hour, every hour while you are awake after surgery. I did it more because I could barley get it to stay up because I hurt so bad. My dr. was worried about pnumonia, so I worked at it. Good luck with your surgery!! Kelly
  22. Thanks, but everything I eat has to be pureed at this stage. don't know how most of those things would be blended up liquified!! I will keep them in mind for my next food stage tho! Thanks! Kelly
  23. Thanks so much Meg! I don't have ANY problem with liquids and never have! I can drink Water three or four big gulps with no issues..I normally don't, but I have forgetting that I shouldn't!!. I don't feel sick with anything, just like a lump is in my throat or pain in my chest after a few bites. Not always, just sometimes. That is what is so weird to me, that it comes and goes! I could not even take 3 bites of that cottage cheese today, but drank 5 oz of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken soup. Then 2 1/2 hours later had a Protein drink! Tonight for dinner, I tried a salmon burger and while I only had about 4 small bites (and it was heaven), it felt fine! I probably could have eaten a little more, but I was afraid I would get that pain, so I stopped. The salmon burger was alot more dense than that cottage cheese and it didn't give me any trouble! Maybe just certain times of the day, I swell up or something? I don't know. I just wish it would be consistant. That way it wouldn't worry me that something is wrong. I do take 40 mg of Nexium daily. The last couple days, I have been trying to eat something every couple of hours, thinking that maybe it would help. I will just keep pressing on and pray that it will get better soon! I guess as long as I can get stuff to go down and stay down, it can't be anything too bad! Kelly quote name='mel30' timestamp='1306976921' post='158588'] This is also for Kellyw I was sleeved on the same day as you and I am having the same problems. I can only get about 2-3 bites in and then I get the horrible chest pain. It also takes about 10 minutes to go away. I usually will get up and walk and pray that, that will fix the pain. I totally understand what you are going through I put a call into my doctor's office late today so I will let you know what he says. Hang in there, it has to get better for us
  24. Congrats!! I say get them 12's, you will be wearing them in no time! Kelly
