  1. LOL OMG I LAUGHED SO LOUD WHEN I READ THE TITLE I guess for scuba diving you have a point. I love floating on my back with ease and the fact i can tread Water with either my arms or legs for hours.
  2. I also had surgery on april 11, 2011 Shout out to my surgery sister, katmagmom!!! 4 month is today I am currently hovering at 216 and my surgery weight was 265. So you are doing better than me Since surgery I have lost 49 lbs. My total loss for the year is over 72 lbs...I was in denial and didn't really acknowledge my weight. I use the start weight of 288. Maybe if I hypnotize myself I would be able to recall that horrific number that I seem to have blocked from my memory
  3. I am not going to debate if Weight Loss Surgery is the easy way out or not. In the end who cares if it "might" be the easy way out or the hardest way out... as long as it WORKS!!! Only you can decide for yourself what is best for you. Find and Go to as many seminars as you can. Better chance of getting all the info you need for your decision. Also its never too early... here we are 24/7 baby.
  4. Going to the movies for me was always treating myself to a soda and candy as well as the movie My new plan is to do a bottled water (bought or snuck in) and a lollipop
  5. I just want to thank you ALL for all the kind words. I re-read this thread several times getting re-encouraged. The culture didn't grow anything over the weekend and I guess my "output" was minimal since I got the drain removed yesterday. Hope no one was in the neighboring room cuz I wasn't quiet. Getting a drain removed is a different experience. Anyhow I still have to take 6 horsepill antibiotics a day- what a chore that is... but I seem to have the trick down and the sooner I can get that done I can actually concentrate on the normal healing process. Normal being water and protein and getting into mushies. This whole thing has set me back by at least a week. Ah but I have lost 20lbs --- so there is a silver lining in my set back
  6. I will try to keep this short but I need your well wishes and prayers. I went to my follow up appointment and complained of pain and not being able to breathe. Surgeon wanted me to come back next day for ct scan but i asked to be able to go to the hospital down the street for that (versus another 2.5 hr drive). So I go in first thing Friday and... well here I was afraid of having Pneumonia when I actually had a pocket of "something" above my liver among other little things. They spoke w/ my Surgeon and then put in a drain. They took out 100 cc's then and since then its been a total of 205cc's and counting... I feel like iron man with a huge piece of equipment in my upper torso. They were going to grow a culture over the weekend to see whats going on. I had white blood cells but no "bacteria". So my body was/ is working hard to kick something's ass. Pray this is a speed bump only and that I will be back on regular healing course soon!!! Thanks Everyone.
  7. Surgery was April 11th for me and i have been running a little on the hotside about every other day but nothing major. The Major Part is the GAS...OMG. i asked my sis for a gun yesterday The pain came out of nowhere yesterday at 5pm well here it is 1:40pm and still have issues luckily I have stopped moaning but the pain is still there. I have only slept a few hours, napping 15mins here and there. Good Times
  8. I find I am standing up to do most of my drinking. I also sip small and "burp" myself. Slapping my chest. I also just go with the sounds instead of trying to be discreet and lady like... its just me and sis here anyhow I have only had one incident with barfing since being home..Thank God!!! I just fanned myself to cool off and then went straight to bed.
  9. And yes....I distinctly recall saying to the PACU nurse.."*%#!*, I KNOW you have better drugs than this". (I am truly embarrassed and sent her an apology.) Thats Flippin Funny... !!! I think its a great question!!! I would get so confused. I always thought the day of surgery as day #1 but as you can tell by this thread that is not always the case. Thats why I like just stating when someone was sleeved... then you can do your own count So including day of surgery I am 6days out
  10. Sleeved April 11th and I am still having a hard time getting ALL the liquids/proteins in. I am more concerned with hydration at this point and want to stick to clear as much as possible. In the hospital they gave a variety of liquids to try, I choose the protein shake which was okay but a bit slimey/thick and I could only get in 2oz at a time. I would be full for hours after the shake and well ... it just didn't make sense to me. At home I mix a protein water cocktail. I use a product called ProteinBlitz, I think it is IsoPures competition (found at vitam-shoppee). I made the mistake of trying the IsoPure smoothie (yuck) so now I won't touch any of their stuff. Any how I grab a large glass and crushed ice and pore in three different flavors: Grape,Mango and Punch and top it off with sugarfree orange/grape poweraid. A regular bottle is 20 fluid oz and has 30 grams protein. So Now I can have my protein and fluids I also sleep with a water bottle...since I can't stretch to the night stand-- for now.
  11. Well everyone thanks for the good wishes... be seeing ya on the losers bench I will be on my way to the hospital just as soon as my sister gets here. 15 mins late and counting.... (but she will never admit she runs late...its always me)
  12. Good luck to you sam 209!!!! Here is to April 11th sleevers!!! I am leaving shortly to go to the hospital...sister is 5 mins late so far
  13. Yikes!!!! Its finally here. Tomorrow AM. Been getting a bit anxious... surprise!!! Ya the nightmare I had the night before last was my first clue. I was driving a car and the breaks went out. Thank goodness the phone rang, cuz I had just pulled up the E-brake and "ring-ring" Yesterday I was having internal dialogs with my self. I was a bit redundant with the questions to myself HEAD: "Really, Seriously...you NEED a Surgery to loose weight??? ***pause*** think*** ponder*** SELF: yes I do, haven't figured it out after how many years/trys. SELF: " you have seen others here in this forum start with the same doubts right beforesurgery...drrrr" HEAD: "Really Seriously...you SELF: "shut up HEAD!!!" "we have already discussed this." I was a little annoyed that my sister is not going to spend the night tonight but is picking me up in the morning. I live closer to the Hospital than she does by a good half hour and the trip to the hospital with out rush hour traffic is an additional hour. She said when she realized I was on Clear liquids only for two days she didn't want to be around my grumpy butt. In the end I think it works out well not because I may be grumpy but I don't need to get into any sister fights LOL !!! My furr- babies were just crying by their food bowl while I was on the phone. I asked them if they were hungry and I told them too bad if Iam on a liquid diet than everyone's on a liquid Diet!!!! Have no fear I will feed them but they could stand to lose a pound or two. A friend the other day asked if my cat ...Bubba was pregnant? I said No HE is not preggers. Ahhh... I feel better just rambling all my goofiness right now even thought my stomach is growling!!!!! So I have exactly 4 hours left till the midnight no more anything cut off and then around 11:30 pacific time tomorrow (4-11-11) I will no longer be a virgin-- surgery virgin that is Shoot I still have to pack!!!!!!!!!

    Have you tried Cedar's?
  15. In my opinion it is wise to search for the topic you are interested in learning -- first. I just did that today in fact!!! I wanted to know if i was going to waste my money by getting a pedicure. Guess what??? There was a thread on that very topic... on page FIVE. I am a member of two online forums and it is super annoying to have a bazillion threads that are the same fricken question!!!! I also find it annoying when people turn the topic into their own mini -sub conversation and divert from the original topic... such as I am doing now. I am doling out forum etiquette instead of answering how to get past a VSG stall. Which I have no advice to give. The advice I can give, however: ***Marathon not sprint *** patience is a virtue (took me years to get fat so... gonna take a while to make me un-fat) *** don't type angry *** More bee's with honey
  16. Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck to us all Monday: 209,kelli,rancherD,F.B.G,Katmagmom (sp?),Caley and the rest. Well I got bumped to 11:15 from 12:15 which leaves me fighting the worst of L.A. traffic to get there oh well my sis is driving maybe I'll take a cat nap on the way... YA Right!!! Who am I kidding. Getting nervous.. had nightmare my car brakes didn't work
  17. **** Monday April 11th !!!!! They moved my start time earlier grrrr. 9am... now i have to deal with L.A traffic= getting up twice as early if i get to sleep at all If thats my biggest complaint of the day then I WILL be super happy. AHHH I am hungry...darn pre-op diet
  18. Congratulations!!! I know how you feel. I was so freaked out and excited when i got my call to schedule a surgery date. Date is this Monday 4-11 so far i haven't gotten freaked out excited since the "call". I have random flutters of excitement just not as intense.... All Bets are off come Sunday night - Monday morning Keep us posted!!!
  19. Super Excited for you... keep us pre-op peeps updated!!!
  20. Yeah glad your home safe and sound. Keep us posted!!! us short timer are anxious ... next monday 4-11 for me
  21. I am going to try a different angle just as an fyi iam not sleeved yet. Okay here it goes... Since the surgery has it been easier to consume less= weight loss? If you can say yes than !!!! Its all good. In the end what do you really want out of this??? You just want to finish the race with"relative" ease/ less difficulty ...right? Do you really have to be one of the first ones across the finish line???? Thanks for the post... it gives me a chance to prepare mentally for possible frustrations such as you are experiencing right now. I have 10 days to gooooooo
  22. I haven't tried it yet... but I got liquid vitamin and calcium from costco. I felt it would be easier to get down plus better absorption. The real kicker was it seemed to have a lot more vitamins in the liquid vs the gummie/chewable ones.
  23. Guess we won't be winning any food eating contests any time soon I am pre-op but from everything people write says, yes we will be able to do the food thing again just never gonna win a food eating contest
  24. Thanks Katmagmom! Thanks Beadingnurse! Better to have been answered twice than not at all
