  1. Once I hit goal, I grabbed some of my old professional suits from over 15 years ago. Imagine my horror when my old size 10 skirts fit like a glove when I just took off a size 4 jeans from today. Almost had a meltdown. Here is a great article from Yahoo about Vanity sizing. http://shine.yahoo.com/fashion/what-size-are-you-really-the-truth-behind-vanity-sizing-2532831.html I have embraced my "new" size. Whatever the number, I am healthy.
  2. Consider me one of your fans. Congratuations on such an incredible job!
  3. Hey S4M; This was from when you and I were newbies back in Sept 2010. What fun!
  4. Thought I would share this site again. Someone was kind enough to share with me when I was a newbie just starting out on my sleeve journey. You can even upload your photo. Not entirely accurate results, but pretty amazing to dream and keep you motivated. I hope you like this and post what you think about site. http://www4.weightmi...or/index.php?id=
  5. This is a BIG victory. Celebrating with you and cheering you on to many more NSV.
  6. Sorry I have to ask but are you having issues with expelling your food which way? Are you throwing up or other?
  7. Okay hun; You are headed for disaster - aka emergency room if you do not get help or help yourself. I am baffled at why your doctors office refused to acknowledge your need to help. Get a shot glass. Go out and get g2 gatorade or Powerade zero (no sugar) and set your timer. Every 15 minutes you will fill this glass. During that 15 minutes you will take very small sips so small liquid barely runs down your throat, NO GULPS and continue working until it is gone. This might take 10 minutes. Repeat all day long. (feels like a full time job) Also, do room tempature, NOT COLD. Cold is hard for our new tummies to tolerate. I experienced the same thing and this was the cure. Try tepid chicken broth from something like Lipton Soup if you are gagging the sweet stuff. Or you can try peppermint decaf tea which is a natural tummy calmer. Remember, not hot, not cold but warm. Also, on Monday AM call your doctors office and request a PPI perscription. If doc will not perscribe one then get permission to take an over the counter like Pepcid acid reduce strips. This will help your stomach gurgles. I felt like I had an alien in there wanting to get out for the first few weeks until I read about a PPI on this site. Tummy was embarassing is was so loud. Take care your yourself because no one else will. Hugs!!
  8. Hi Paige; Congrats on being down 72lbs already! YEAH. Not much new to add beyond other posters, but you might want to double check your vitamins too. I take an additional sublinguial (under the tounge) B12 in additional to my normal suppliments. Also, you did not mention water intake/protien intake. You mentioned this just started two weeks ago, so are you getting what you need? Maybe you need more calories for a week, yes I said it. Sometimes your body needs a change as it has been losing wegiht so rapidly that a shake up helps. Add some protein or good fats like avacado/cheese for a week. If that does not work, maybe try add a few good carbs, like legumes. Eventually, you will figure out what your body needs. This is a learning process. Good thing you noticed now find what works. Hugs. I love my sleeve!
  9. Well and upper GI is nothing like getting scoped. But I think you are more annoyed that you have to do both after they told you one or the other. I just had an upper GI before surgery so they could see if I had gallstones (which I did) and pictures of stomach and liver, etc. Think that is the most important. So, for you - ask your doctor why both when then said just one. Did they find something that requires further tests or should they only have done one. Ask questions. Don't accuse just ask why needed. Good lucka and remember no matter what is to be done and the end of this you will be sleeved. Hugs.
  10. Happy one year Sleeve Anniversary. You neglected to mention how quickly you reached goal...which was within 7 months, right? Big hugs for an amazing lady.
  11. So excited for you and the start of your journey. Love the before pics because know you know why you need the surgery in case you have any buyer regrets those first few weeks. Hugs.
  12. I had BCBS of IL and was denied. Of course my surgery was 9/17/10 and they started approving the sleeve as on 10/1/10. Yeah, I paid for it but it was worth every penny Love your tenacity and follow up with insurance not letting them off the hook. Oh - I was an outpaitent for my surgery and am glad I did it this way. My surgeon did not offer discounts for outpatient. Experience, technique of surgery and low risk rate of doctor is more important than pricing when chosing a good surgeon. You did what was right for you and I would have been leary of a doc who kept lower pricing and offering "specials." But don't discount all outpatient surgeries for VSG, it is the way barriatrics are going. I was glad to be home in my own bed without people bothering me all night long. No drain, no pain meds (none needed) and recouping in comfort. I spent a lot, but have no regrets. Congrats on a great fight to get your sleeve!
  13. I can only imagine your disappointment. I will fake smile with you and pray that time speeds along. Don't dwell on what could have been, dwell on what you are going to make happen with your new sleeve. Feeling you are going to rock your sleeve! Hugs to you.
  14. A big welcome to the losers bench. Congratulations. Remember to sip often, walk as often as you can and rest. Cheering you on to goal!
  15. Cali - You are amaizng! I remember your first post picture and I can see an incredible difference already. Just imagine what is ahead - total success. Congrats on your loss thus far and cheering you on for so much more!
  16. Ah, the tortureous two week diet. I almost passed out, ate my arm off, screamed, cried and mourned. Never once did I cheat and I am a weak woman. I know you can do this. Not going to lie and say it will be easy but the results are so worth it. One day at a time. Oh - at the end of the day after drinking my protien shakes all day, I rewarded myself with 1oz of turkey jerkey for the chew. Again - I know you can do this! Keep you eye on the prize - a new healthy you!
  17. Mr Worm; Whew - two full sizes dropped already? Yipee! Here is to that weight continuing to fall off you. Keep up the great work. I love my sleeve!
  18. Lacie - I agree. These boards were my lifeline too for that first year and people on here are such great inspirations. You earned that loss and it is your efforts that shed those pounds. Cheering you on to many more achievements and mini goals. Celebrate each one. I love my sleeve!
  19. You must feel incredible already. Image what you are going to fell like another 85lbs down...and then goal. Sooner than you think. Keep up the amazing successful weight loss. Love my sleeve!
  20. I didn't have a drain, so I can not respond to as if this is normal. Maybe you should call your doctor's office tomorrow and ask to speak to a nurse. Usually they are happy to answer questions. Congratulations on being sleeved - I have no regrets.
  21. Congratulations on such a great weight loss already! Yes, our taste buds change for a while and some things you used to love you may never like again. That is okay. I learned to like new things too. Keep up the great work! I love my sleeve.
  22. Ah dramagirl28; I remember the start of your journey. Thrilled for your BIG goal so a huge congratulations. Looking forward to many more success. Hugs from one of your cheerleaders - iegal PS - come meet your fellow SoCal support group sometime, okay?
  23. Different surgeon than MiniMe & PDX man - I was an outpatient for VSG surgery here in the US. Loved being in my own bed that evening and yes, pain meds were not necessary.
  24. YIPPEE. I love not only this recipe but this website. Thank you so much for making me this excited.
  25. Thank you so much for sharing to inspire others by sharing your photos. I still carry mine out at over a year and a half out for talks with those in the process or just for me to remember. Dancing for your success.
