I want it out! Frustrated and depressed...

I'm sorry your band has slipped. I had a Minor slip and after my band was emptied my stomach fell into place. Although it wasn't slipped I continued to have problems not keeping food or fluids in. I have my follow up appointment next week on Tuesday. I don't know if there were any issues with the band or not because the I haven't spoken to the doc yet. Although my appetite is not back yet I'm able to eat anything. I have been eating bread and flour not excessively but it goes down the pipe pretty well. I'm having to go back and using self discipline in the food choices. It's not my band making the choices for me any longer. To be honest with you I really like being the one in control of my food rather the band. I hope you recover soon. Maybe the sleeve would be another option? In the end regardless of what happens you are the owner of your mind and body. You're in control now! Bout time no? Have a good weekend

I want it out! Frustrated and depressed...

I pray everything goes well with you. I'm a week in since the removal it's been a bit uncomfortable but I'm able to eat now. I have nothing to stop me now so I am very aware of what I can eat and what I can't. I'm going to start working out as soon as the doc says it's safe to do that. However when I visit my patents house it's quite dangerous because they don't count calories and have lots of delish goodies to eat! I need to work on fighting those obstacles, lol. But I remain firm with my decision I'm glad it came off. let me know how it all went for you. By the way my appetite remains the same I haven't had the need to over eat. So far so good

I want it out! Frustrated and depressed...

I had the procedure done as an outpatient. I got sent home yesterday and despite the pain I'm quite content this thing is out. I feel dizzy and nausea but at least I'm keeping down the liquids and yesterday I was able to eat a soup. Once I get back to normal I'm going to try Zumba and begin walking as part of a workout routine. Best of luck to you too!

I want it out! Frustrated and depressed...

It's tough when the band doesn't agree with your food and stomach.its like this thing has a mind of it's own. I'm waiting at the hospital ready to have my band removed because I've been having lots of the many issues you mentioned. My main problem is indigestion which sounds like you're having that problem too. You may want to consider having that band removed if you're having so many problems. My doctor recommended the sleeve but my insurance company has certain criteria that I don't meet so pretty much I'm sh...out of luck. Although after my removal I'm totally going to stay on track and just diet and exercise like I should have done it in the first place. Get well soon, stay away from bread and pasta! Good luck ????

    Chronic Indigestion Need help!

Well my dears I'm currently at the hospital waiting to have my band removed. Unfortunately things didn't get any better. The doctor had suggested a sleeve but my insurance requires that I have a BMI of 50 or greater which thankfully I'm quite away from. I can't deny I'm not scared and worried for life without the band but I can't continue throwing up and having so much indigestion. Oddly enough it was exactly three years ago around the same time that I had the band put on and now it's coining off. At least what I've been able to learn in the past three years is to make better food choices and control my emotional eating.
  6. I just had a baby 7 weeks ago my doctor removed all of my fluid completely because I've been having indigestion problems. I just got checked a week ago and thankfully the band is not slipped. However, I've been unable to eat solid foods and today I can't even keep any fluids down. Has this happened to anyone? I know that I will have to wait until next Monday to go see my doctor again but I'm trying to avoid another surgery by finding out more information on my issue.

    Chronic Indigestion Need help!

I completely relate to your problems. I'm taking it very easy. I'm thinking of just sticking to a very light diet for at least a week and I agree when the stomach is irritated it gets very upset and mad!

    Chronic Indigestion Need help!

Thanks for your responses. At this point I'm sure it's not a stomach virus. Today I've been able to drink fluids and eat pudding and a chicken broth. For now I'm going to take your advice in taking it easy with mushy food. The doctor has talked about relocating my band a little higher. I'm hoping I don't have to go through that. i wonder if the insurance companies pay for the removal of the band?

    Nutri System Diet

I got banded March 10 2011, and I have only lost 20 pounds since. I am frustrated that I am not losing like I thought I would. I had imagined I would have lost at least 30 to 40 pounds! I barely eat food now. I made the decision out of desesparation to join the nutri system diet. Strangely enough I don't throw it out like regular food. The food is not extremely awesome, but is not horrible either. It's the lack of discipline that I don't have because everytime I now it's time to eat, it feels like an exciting adventure. I feel like ok so now what am I going to eat? etc, but with the nutri system at least I have the food already cooked. I am workinig on establishing the discipline of sticking to the food and the diet. Why am I losing at such a slow pace? ??????

    Nutri System Diet

Thanks everyone! I had to get the band because I am a compulsive eater. I lack discipline along with the energy to cook. I took a deep look into my inner self one day and I decided that I wanted to live longer and achieve many other things that I have not been able to do so because of my weight problem. I have come to learn that the lap band is a tool that helps me control my portions, and also prevents me from over eating because it immediately makes me throw out the uneccesary amounts. I have found that the nutri system food is helping me eat the portions I need along with teaching me how to eat healthy. I am beginning to pass that on to my husband and son. As a matter a fact, I got my husband to join the program also, so now we are both doing the program and it seems to help because I get his support. I do know what my problem is, but sometimes is easier for me to hide behind my lack of dieting and discipline problems. I feel embarrased that I have not lost more pounds because I know I have not been giving it my best with the chance that I have been given. I was given the gift of life again and I am wasting it away. I will continue my journey, but this time, I am planning on adding excersice and stick to the nutri system diet, and eventually weanne myself out to supermarket food, once I loose the next 26 pounds, which will take me to 200 lbs. Thank you again to everyone for your kind words.
  14. Day 2 from getting my first fill. I am scared that I am going to let my self down!

  15. YES, !! I ate just about everything about 1 week after my surgery. It does feel bad to know your banded and you are still eating the same way before surgery. Don't feel bad, pretend you are learning to walk, and everyone falls down. Just get right back up. The only thing that I can recommend to you is to stop spoiling yourself and begin some kind of discipline. I got my first fill two days ago!

    Bandster Hell anyone?

I had my band put in on March 10 2011, and just yesterday was my first fill. I started progressively eating 1 week after my band. I haven't had any problems either, and prior to my banding I went on an eating spree. Yesterday when I had my fill I also thought it's a great way to jumpstart my diet and get back into a low carb diet. I was told to stay on full liquids for two days. I asked my husband to stop by dunkin donuts and I ordered a milkshake. Although I have been feeling hungry off and on, I am not starving. When I looked at the menu this afternoon and saw all of the goodies my mouth started savoring all of those items. I suddenly realized that the band is not going to do it alone for me. It's about learning discipline and controlling the mind for all those cravings I plunge into. Today I also realized it's my time to break up with food, because I have a relationship with it. So, what I am saying here to you is the following, "what is your story?" Are you ready to sign the divorce papers and tell, pizza, pasta, cheeseburgers, ice cream, soda pops--GOODBYE? Are you ready to give it all of that up for a leaner and healthier you? As for myself, I am completely terrified I am going to let myself down by not making better food choices, that is why I think it's important to log in to this site or any other support group that I can find in order to stay in course and find the motivation to revolt against the food that has kept me a slave to it for so many years. I am planning on telling my husband to take me a picture of how I look now, and I will begin a journal, and put the picture in front of the fridge to remind me everytime I walk by there how I look. I wish you the best of luck in your journey.

    First fill question

I had my fill yesterday. The doctor told me there is already 2ccs in the band, and they fill you with 3cc's, so the total amount of cc's in your band is 5cc's. I hope that helps.
  18. I take zoloft also, and I can usually tell the difference when I don't take it. The anti-depressant medication should help a great deal sice it will balance the chemicals in your brain. Your seratonim liquid is the "happy" antidote and that should help with your weight loss.

    First Fill - Wednesday 04-27-2011

I am counting the days, hours, and seconds for this day. I am so excited that finally my journey begins next wednesday. Everyone tells me it started from moment I decided to get the lap-band but I think it's until this Wednesday. The reason why I feel this way it's because finally I will have a tool that will help me make better food choices. Unfortunately, I am an emotional eater and usually turn to comfort foods such as fast foods. My biggest temptation is the pizza. Nevertheless, I have already made up my mind to become a different person, with a new brain, new stomach, etc and I have decided to sign my DIVORCE papers from food. I will no longer be a slave to food, and I am the one in charge now! I have about 110 pounds to lose and I can't wait to see myself 1 year from now. Does anyone have any suggestions for do's and don'ts / before and after the fill?
  20. I am now officially DIVORCED from unhealthy Food!

Day 1 of 10 day fast.

Stick to your fasting as much as you can. I know it is so hard and the stomach gets extremely mad when you don't give it food. Think of it this way, "Whose in control now?" Best of luck and may God grant you the strength to overcome the temptations.
  24. Yes getting the surgery is the best thing you can do in your life. I wish you and your friend the best. May the Holy Spirit come upon your friend and heal her from that cancer. Everything is possible with God.

    Easter dinner

I think the reason why need the lap band it's because we use it for comfort. In my view it sounds like the reason why you were able to tolerate your brother-in-law in the past was because you had the opportunity to interact with your sister and nephews through food. It appears now it's time to interact with your family not using food anymore. Usually a gathering involves food, music, etc but that is the lifestyle we have to change if you really want your band to work. I just had my band put on about six weeks ago and I am still having trouble ending my relationship with food. I love food! that's my problem. I get my fill this Wednesday and I know that once I take that journey food is no longer a part of my life. I have convinced myself in my mind that food will only be used for nutrional purposes even if it's just 2-4 ounces. Losing weight is my mail goal so that I can fit in the clothes that I dream of, also running a marathon, yoga, and playing interactively with my 5yr old son. I wish you the best of luck.
