  1. Unfortunately, it's human nature for others to be negative about our positive changes! I have never in my life seen someone get a promotion or have something really good happen to them when there wasn't at least ONE person who had something negative to say about it. Am I right or am I right??? The best thing you can do is turn their negativity into something positive for yourself. Use their own words against them by showing them what an incredible person you STILL are, heavy or not. Besides that, no matter what anyone says, we're here for you!!!!
  2. Raz, Welcome to the family! Like you, I initially had the pessimism to think of the worst possible things that could happen. Finally one day I just decided that I would put it in God's hands and if he saw fit to see me through the surgery, then all would be well, and I have been at peace ever since the moment that I truly gave this over to Him. My surgery was April 11th, 8 days ago and I can honestly tell you that it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Like others have said, there are no absolute guarantees in this life, but I can tell you that statistically, you're 98% more likely to die from a car wreck than you will this surgery! How are you feeling today? Christal
  3. 8 days post op and if the scale is to be believed......down 22 lbs????? NO WAY!!!! I'd like to thank everyone who has posted here!!!! It's so encouraging to hear from you and hear how you are doing and your hopes, expectations, accomplishments!! I LOVE IT! Keep em coming! Christal
  4. I get mine at wal-mart in the pharmacy section near the vitamins.
  5. Aloe juice is basically tasteless! So you can add it to anything! And its good for you! Love it!
  6. So I have been experimenting with my fluids. I'm 5 days post surgery and feel great!!! So today I added 1 cup of aloe vera 100% juice, 1 cup of Water and my crystal lite powder. Not only is it delicious but For the first time I have no gas!! I figure aloe vera has to be good for a healing tummy also! Has anyone else tried this? Christal
  7. Day 3 post op.....I feel FANTASTIC!!!!!! Day 2 was rough but as soon as they removed my drain this morning its like all the pain is gone! Except for the incision sites, I have no pain! This is incredible! Been sipping and walking like crazy .... all I can say is I wish I had done this sooner!!!!
  8. We're leaving... on a jet plane! Won't have no gut when we're back again! Oh lord I love to see it go!! Lol! I'm so friggin excited for all of us!!!!!!!
  9. we're at the airport about to go to san Diego! Omg!
  10. Here we go!!!! My Hubby and I are sitting in the airport, right now, waiting to go to San Diego and that song keeps running through my head... I'm leaving....on a jet plane! Won't have no tummy when I get back again! Oh lord, I love to see it go! Ok. So I changed a few words. Lol! God bless us all!!! Christal
  11. To everyone who's an April sleever...I love you all and I hope we stay in touch and supportive! You have all inspired and encouraged me in one way or another and I have prayed for God to be with each of us in our journey. Together in surgery and in Christ, Much love, Christal
  12. Yay Kelly!!! We're almost there!!!!!!
  13. Today I started my full liquid 4 day diet. For the past few weeks I have stayed on a liquid morning and afternoons and high Protein no carbs no fat meals at night. What a conniving evil thing the mind can be! Here I have psyched myself up for all liquids and on the day I start I wake up hungry like a wolf! Then the men in my house invite me to go watch them eat breakfast! Heheh! They didn't mean any harm, they just forgot. But the head is playing games with my stomach! it's almost like I'm hungry just because I know I can't chew. WIERD! So here is my official "Before" pic.... UGH!
  14. Of all the things I've lost while being overweight....I miss my mind the most!!!
  15. So it's only 11 days until my surgery! I've decided to have the gastrectomy instead of the plication. I mean, am I really worried about reversal?????? Haha! I'm nervous, and I scan the VSG boards daily! How is everyone doing?????
  16. Beading! I'm self pay too! Surgery is April 11th. I'm soooo excited I can't sit still!!!! I wish us the VERY best!! Lets stay in touch as we will be going through all the ups and downs at the same time!!! Christal
  17. Kimmy, I'm 5'3, and a "pleasantly plump" 210 lbs. My BMI is 36.5. I have bounced around from 125 to 298 for 16 years........no less than 6 times. Trust me when I say I have the stretch marks, the batwing skin, the tummy flap, the saddle bags, the inner thigh pouches, the sacks my boobs were once in.......ALL great little reminders of the roller coaster of weight gain and weight loss. I'm 40 yrs old. My mom doesn't agree with the surgery, nobody close to me thinks of me as "that big", but I KNOW ME!!! I'm tired of fighting my weight, losing it, only to gain it all back again over a couple of years. I'm doing this for ME, NOT for my mother and certainly not for anyone who doesn't see me as "that big". I, I, I, I, and may I repeat again, I, ME, MYSELF am doing this so I, ME, MYSELF can bend over, run, breath, feel the muscles in my legs and stomach again, and LIVE LIVE LIVE and LAUGH without jiggling!!!!!! If you know your body, and you've made this decision based on your own personal needs, then you are doing the right thing. NEVER NEVER NEVER let others influence you into something that isn't theirs to choose!~ I WISH YOU THE BEST! Keep posting! Christal
  18. ILKrista, Be proud! I know exactly how you felt when you expressed your elation and hopes to everyone about your surgery! You were EXCITED and you have EVERY right to be! This is not like picking out a pair of socks! This is a life changing decision, and one that you make entirely for your own health benefits. It's NORMAL to want to shout it from the roof tops! I have told anyone who's shown an interest...mainly folks who want to know why I won't be at work for a few weeks. Surprisingly almost all of my feedback has been positive and supportive! Except from my "59 yr old 125 lbs HER WHOLE LIFE AND THROUGH 4 PREGNANCIES so there's no way she would ever understand"", mother. There's always an exception....Oh well, huh? Krista, no regrets! This is for YOU, this is for your health! This is so you can add to the years that you're around to enjoy your life and the lives of your family and friends! Those who are not supportive of you and your decision are, in reality, the ones who are lost. I wish you the VERY best on your journey! I start mine on April 11th........
  19. We will be there for 3-4 days as far as I know. I think the sweetheart wants a day in California so if its possible maybe only 3 days at the recovery house. My Hubby has never gotten to travel so this is waaay exciting for him and I'm going to do my beat to make sure he enjoys himself! Lord knows he kills himself trying to keep me happy...so every little thing I can do to make him smile I will do!
  20. We are from albuquerque NM. We'll be flying in on the 10th. The Hubby wants some time after my sx to see some sights. We fly back out on Friday.
  21. Fatbgone, will u be with us in Jerusalem hospital?
  22. Kelly, where are you going for surgery?
  23. Caley, I look forward to meeting you! Your Hubby is having the surgery on the 13th right? My Hubby will be there too but for moral support. We can all groan together and make my Hubby walk with us! Lol
  24. It's awesome to see so many of us! How many if us will be at Jerusalem hospital on the 11th?
  25. I am only taking one week off of work after surgery, unless something goes wrong. But as a newbie I have idea what to expect at that point.
