I was asked by my dad, who I am trying to convince to consider the vsg, how it actually resolved diabetes and insulin resistance. I know it does but I'm not sure how. If anybody out there knows the medical side of it, I would really appreciate it. I think if I can explain this to him he might be more inclined to consider the surgery, he is right now over 400 lbs. and 6'2". He was just diagnosed with diabetes 2. I am very concerned about him but I can't make the decision for him, he has to do that himself. All I can do it to give him as much info as I can. I would also like to know because I am insulin resistant (my insulin levels are in the 2000's instead of the 200's). My surgery is scheduled for the 19th, can't wait. Just trying to get more info for myself and my father. Thanks.

I finished my pre-op appts except for the pre-op for the doc. Now I just wait for my surgery. Whooppee. Can't stand it. I want it NOW!!!

I HAVE A DATE!!! WHOO HOO!!! DOING THE HAPPY DANCE!!! It is April 19th unless someone cancels then I get one earlier. WHOO HOO!!!! So excited I can hardly stand it. Been doing the happy dance all day.

Hello. I am pre-op and waiting for ins approval. Waiting is killing me. I'm basically an impatient person and the waiting is driving me crazy. Was getting the DS but was changed to the VSG due to scar tissue and med issues. So not really all that up to date on the VSG, I know pretty much how it works and all that just not really anything else. Like the long term results, diet after surgery, etc. Any info would be great and will be checking out the other parts of the forum for answers too. I am hoping to be sleeved in one to two months. My doctor is Dr. Oakley in Boise, ID. I have been researching this process and options for about 10 yrs. Am ready to get it under way. I have been overweight since junior high and am tired of it. Can't remember when i was thin, ready to be healthy again. I want to be able to keep up with my kids and get down and play with them. I also want to be out of pain. Anyway, that's about it. Talk to y'all later.
