  1. My advice would be to read as much as you can...read all the forums here at VST and I think in the long run you will be glad that you ended up with a sleeve. Ask any question!!! any time...some one is always here and we have been in you same place some times only days before you. Good Luck on your journey and know that if you need anything I am always available for questions!!!
  2. Saying a little prayer for you...sip sip sip and walk as SOON as you can, even if you dont want to!
  3. Praying for you Kandy, I will be looking forward to reading more posts from you after you are home and healing.
  4. I use it every day. I buy them from big lots for 1/2 the price of the grocery store. I usually dissolve in 20 ounces of water (I prefer them to be a little watered down). And the trick about getting it to dissove is to let it sit for a while. I make it atleast an hour before I drink it. The longer it sits the more dissolved. I have trouble drinking straight up water. It kind of burns. I keep packets of K2O in my car so when I pick up a bottle of water I can just add the powder.
  5. Just keep working on it...everyday, forget about yesterday and do your best today it will get better. Most likely your swelling is just taking a little time to go down. For me I was like 4 months out before I hit my fluid goal and it wasnt everyday just every once in a while but I tried everyday and now I hit it most days. Good luck to you.
  6. you really have done well...I am so excited for you and have NO doubt that you will hit the scale goal soon. You are AWESOME Coops!!!
  7. I felt so much better at day 4 and back to normal( I think) about day 7. By two weeks I felt like a new person. A wonderfully happy new person.
  8. I like one Protein before surgery and another after so the best thing I think you can do is buy it from a place where you can return it if you dont like it. GNC has a no questions asked returns and you can return it after you try it. I like the delicious strawberry flavor of Gold Standard100% Whey ...but it is only good mixed with milk...during my preop and losing stages after surgery I only mixed with Water because I didnt want the calories or carbs of milk so I prefered a fruit punch flavor that sorta tasted like crystal light. You will just need to start trying them but they are expensive so make sure you can return them. Good Luck to you! Sorry Kathy I have no idea how to work the ticker my husband had to do it for me:)
  9. YOu really look amazing, I showed your picture to my husband and told him this is such a life changing surgery! Thanks for sharing.
  10. Any and all advice I had for you Lissa just mentioned. I used the little disposable cups from the bathroom for the first 2 months. It helped me take small sips. I also only used milk for my shakes after the first 2 weeks. Praying for some healing for you. Hang in there and keep us posted.
  11. My skinny friend asked to borrow my ball gown for next year. Never had anyone skinny ask to borrow any of my clothes!
  12. You posted this while I was writing the same thing practically!
  13. ooooo boy, you dont know us ladies very well do you? Cliche? That's what we like!!! I say horse and buggy ride would be amazing. I would enjoy a play or musical too! How far out are you? There are lots of places you can go and if you dont mind watching her eat, you can order soup. It doesnt hurt to call a head and find out what the soup of the day is and plan the place accordingly. It may be a good way for her to learn to eat in front of you again. Cause if you plan on staying together (which it sounds like you do) she will need to be comfortable eating with you. Just my opinion. Good Luck and Good for you for treating her so well.
  14. I am praying you get better soon. Keep us posted:)
  15. Ladies this one is just for you... I had to pick up a pair of panty hose...I used to have to buy Plus size because the Queen size didnt fit any more. Today I looked at the back of the package and... I wear a size A now! Almost cried in the store.
  16. At 11 months out I am not required to eat shakes but I choose to have a shake just about every day to make sure I get in enough protein.
  17. First of all I was there too...my husband often has to attend military functions and he always wants me to go. Before I had surgery I would "forget" to get a babysitter until the last minute and not have to go. I hated wearing the clothes that fit me. They made me look so old! I felt ashamed of my self and always though I embarresed my husband. I always felt like the fattest worst dressed women there. But you know what I dont now! as a matter of fact I am usually the smallest (not necessarily the best dressed). I love being by his side now. I know that it is uncomfortable for you now but...trust me Dec 6th is a GREAT day to have surgery...that was my date and this surgery has saved my life in so many ways. Next year you will be beggin to go out in your new clothes you will feel great and not mind spending money to make you look good. I will pray that no matter what you wear you will have a wonderful visit with your mom. I just lost my mom in September and I wish I would have flown across the country to see her more (even if she made me crazy when I did). Blessings to you,
  18. Welcome! there is so much information here for you...anything you experience or have a question about you can find 10 others who are willing to tell you about their experience. It really is great to have someone who has been there done that to answer your questions. Look forward to future posts.
  19. Raine~ just want to encourage you! YOu can do it...you will be thankful you did!
  20. Congratulations, take care of yourself....keep walking and sipping!
  21. Wow! You have been through the ringer! I am praying for you right now. Blessings,
