14 DAYS POST OP ....WHAT TO DO ON THURSDAY

I say go and eat what you are suppose to! I think it is really sad that people think Thanksgiving is about the food! It is really about being thankful for all the blessings we have. Go! spend time with your family. Explain to your aunt that the food looks and smells delicious and you are so grateful to have her and then tell her that you won't be able to eat but you wanted to be with her and the rest of the family onThanksgiving. That is just my two cents...what ever you decide Happy Thanksgiving! You have a new sleeve to be thankful for!

    bulk buying before surgery

My surgeon has two phases of liquids. The first is clear...no milk or creamy liquids. Then I get to move to "full liquids". Those include creamy soups, milk, protein shakes. Then I get to move to mushies. They gave me sample menus and days planned out for me. Did you have to have any meetings with your nutritionist or classes you had to take? good luck to you...hope that helps.

    bulk buying before surgery

My NUT told me that I should not ever use Slim Fast. There is just too much Carbs in them. A protein shake fills me more and I like the flavors more. Maybe you can find some sugar free popsicles and crystal light. I also read on here that your taste buds change after surgery so maybe you dont want to buy too much now? Good Luck to you...my surgery is the 6th and I have only bought a little chicken and beef broth from when I get home.
  7. 21 lbs in 11 days that is so great!!!! I can't wait to write a post like this!!! Great Job girl. I say you dance in front of you husband until he sees what a big deal this is! Congrats girl.

    one month surgervrsery

Tomorrow I am two weeks out. My surgeon requires a two day pre op diet of liquids only but I also had to loose ten % of excess weight before they would make a date. I have lost that and trying to lose a little more. Curious what was your two week diet? I am kind of doing a low carb/sugar, low fat, high protein diet. Some days I have just done protien shakes for morning or lunch and just a regular dinner. Congrats on your success! Your doing Great!

    Negativity

I am dealing with some people just like that. I have decided that it is ok for them to not agree with my decision. It is my decision. I have made it. My surgery will be Dec 6th and then all those people can watch me be succesful. I am just trying to go to my husband who supports my decision 100% and have faith in God that this is the right thing for me to do.

    pre op appointment

Well, I guess it varies depending on your surgeon and other medical conditions but I had an ekg, upper gi, gall bladder ultra sound, lots and lots of blood work, two pregnancy tests, 2 nutritional classes, 5 meetings with nutritionist, I was required to loss 10% of excess body weight (for me it was 10 pounds), support group attended, and a pysch evaluation. Hope that answers your question. Good luck to you.

    Surgery Scheduled: December 1!

Shrink that liver! Me too! Getting sleeved on December 6. I had my preop appointment today. I only have two days of liquids prior to surgery but was required to lose 10% of excess weight before they would even give me a surgery date. Now I just have to maintain the loss. I have read about a lot of people who gained a lot of weight before surgery eating their "final feasts" but it is I wanted to lose weight. From what my Dr tells me I will have a better chance of having an uneventful surgery if I lose before the big day. I have been really working on changing bad habits now, and not waiting for after the surgery to change the way I eat. Good luck to you! December is right around the corner!
  15. So here is my question…I have been reading everything I can on this site. I have noticed that most people lose somewhere around 10 pounds a month after surgery. Then there are those who are 4-5 months out that have only lost 25 pounds or so…How do I make sure I am one of those who lose 10 pounds a month? I want to be successful at this…Those of you who have done well what do you think makes the difference? Those of you that have NOT been successful what is holding you back? Your honesty is appreciated! Thank you for being willing to help those of us on the other side of this journey, prepare.
  16. Pre-op appointment tomorrow. Turning in my consent (a little scary), last minute instructions, almost there!

    Weight Loss, Weight Gain..

That sounds like my history. I work my butt off and starve myself for months. Then I eat one normal meal and I gain 3 pounds. I can lose weight but it is SO hard and impossible for me to maintain. Isn't that why we are having the surgery. I would think that your insurance company will still approve you. I think it is more like they want you to prove that you have tried to do this with out surgery. I often wondered if they also try to weed out people with all these hoops and hurdles. I it is like a cooling off period. Let us know what they say.

    Somebody is testing me tonight!

I hate it when stuff like that happens! Good for you for throwing it away. I am not looking forward to my preop diet...good luck to you. YOU CAN DO IT.

    Surgery Tomorrow

Cindy, I asked the Lord to be with you tomorrow to guide the doctors and nurses caring for you. I prayed for your family waiting for you to come out of surgery. I will look forward to hearing from you soon. Blessings Girl,

4 Days and a wake up

I am a military wife too! I can't imagine doing this with out my hubby to talk to though! He will be so exicted to see you when he returns and you are gonna blow him away. I am three weeks away from surgery and I have been kind of moody. I find myself having a hard time falling asleep which hasnt been a problem since I have three kids and am usually exhausted by the time I get to bed each night. I lay awake thinking about the things that will change and things I know about the surgery and the things I need to ask the surgeon. I just have to keep reminding my self that I am doing this so that I can live a long healthy life and enjoy every minute I have with my family. I am doing this so my children will have a role model to follow to be healthy eaters. Then they will have a good chance of being able to stay away from weight issues in their future. If you ever need to chat with someone please feel free to send me a private message and I will chat. I am a stay at home mom on the west coast so I am home a lot of the day. Are you having this done at a Military facility? I will say a little pray every thing goes well for you on the 18th.

Wow! That is awesome. 4 months is no time at all. Great job. Any advice you want to share to some getting ready to have surgery? Can't wait to join you on the other side (surgery 6 Dec).

1Week out and 15 lbs down

WOW that is great! Back to the gym already! I thought it would be atleast 4 weeks before going to the gym. They told me I wouldn't be able to pick up my 18month old for 2 weeks. She only weighs about 19 pounds. Angela~I will be sleeved on the 6th of December. Good Luck to you! we can lose it together!
