  1. yeah, congrats to you on your new journey. welcome to the next phase of your life
  2. I personally would not do my own fills, i would be afraid i would do more harm than good. Have you tried Dr. Malley or Dr. Fearing in Shawnee Ks? i don't know if they will take on pt's that had it done out of the country or not. check them out. can't hurt to find out.
  3. Personally, i think you are losing way to fast. 1 to 2 lbs a week is what you want to lose, as that give the body and skin the elasticity to catch up with the fat lost. How much are you eating? i lose 1 to 2 lbs per week and i eat 1 cup to 1 1/2 cups of food at each meal. i had mine done april 21st and have lost 31 lbs and i am super happy about it and so is my doctor. i have lost 3 dress sizes. i have had 4 fills thus far and my doctor feels i am in the green zone, or what he calls the sweet spot.
  4. did he not tell you what to do for the next 48 hours? mine has his pt's do liquids the first 24 hours, then mushies the 2nd 24 hours and then solids after that.
  5. i just had to do a slimfast at Breakfast and lunch, lean cuisine type meal at dinner and a couple of Snacks of fruit or milk during the day. i was on clear liquids the day before surgery though.
  6. oh gosh, i have no idea. i do know that they give a blood thinner before each surgery to prevent blood clots in everyone. she might have had something else going on to require that she still be on them. does not mean that you will have to do the same. wish i could be of more help!
  7. they did give you lots of fluids before and during surgery, it will go down. you should have seen me when i had my first back. my feet were so swollen i could not walk on them, looked like i had 3 feet on each foot. lol just keep drinking fluids and you will be peeing it out in no time.
  8. you are doing fine. think about it, you are now eating solid foods instead of just liquids. they are heavier and you are not filled yet. just don't over do it. i was eating more than i thought i should be before my first fill. after i got filled, i was eating alot less. i gained a couple of lbs after i was eating solids before my first fill too. you have lost alot of weight in a short time, be proud of that.
  9. ahhh, that is awesome you both are on this journey to a new, healthy life together! congrats to both of you and wishing her a speedy recovery.
  10. I wish i could help you. I am in Missouri so i don't know anyone in CA to tell you about. have you tried the Lapband.com site? you might want to post in other forums too to get your answer.
  11. You are doing fine. This is what is called bandster hell, the 2 weeks postop when you want solid food, but can't have it yet. it will get alot better after you can have solids and gets fills.
  12. I started 2 weeks late after having surgery, and i am normally like clockwork. when you lose weight, your cycles tend to be off. body is trying to regulate itself from the weight loss.
  13. My surgeon told me during the seminar that no one's body has rejected the band, but that people have had complications from slipping or erroding. but no rejection has occured that he is aware of.
  14. yeah, congrats! I can't wait until I am there too. hopefully by the end of the year I will be.
  15. Yep, totally agree. I have noticed it a lot that people, strangers and co-workers are nicer. lol!
  16. good luck to you. wishing you a speedy recovery! everyone feels nervous right before surgery.
  17. Don't get hung up on losing alot before your first fill. your body is healing and adjusting to the band. you are doing great, keep up the good work. drink plenty of water too.
  18. Dr. Malley in KS, he works with Dr. Fearing at Malley Surgical. He is awesome and i love his staff.
  19. Yeah, that is awesome. congrats o you! keep up the great work!
  20. Congrats and wishing yo a speedy recovery!
  21. get the mylanta chewsables for gas, they are great. I took them every 4 hours and it helped so much with the gas. also walking around, no drinking though a straw either. it will get better. if you are nauseated, ask your doctor for zofran, great anti nausea chewable pill.
  22. I saw my doctor every 2 weeks for the first 3 visits, then every4 weeks for the first year. then very 3 months the second year, then twice a year.
