  1. I know, and knew from the start that the band is "only a tool", "not a quick fix", "doesn't do all the work for you", and all that stuff that everyone says when someone is not losing weight. I am just really disappointed that after 20 months with the band, I am only down 22 lbs., and only 29 at my best. I've tried but to be honest, I really thought that once I hit "the green zone" it wouldn't be as hard. I mean why did I even do this? There has been no change on my mind. Only in my stomach. Obviously, my mind is pretty creative because it always finds a way to fulfill its desire for food, even when the band says "nope, no more of that". I mean really, did I think that my issues with food would instantly go away once I had the band? I guess I kind of did. Well, it didn't happen and I still struggle as much as ever with make right choices and not eating out of boredom or emotion. None of that was affected by the band. I get really bummed when I see my friend who had the sleeve a whole year after I did the band, down 80+ lbs and looking great, and I'm not really any better off than I ever was. Don't get me wrong. I'm extremely happy for her? She has struggled for as long as I've known her. Makes me regret this band sometimes even though in my heart I know that without it, I'd probably be up that 22–29 lbs instead of down. Still, I'm a good 60 lbs over my goal and not feeling any hope that I'll ever get any closer. I'm not sure what I'm looking for here. Maybe I just needed to vent. I don't really need to hear all the typical lapband/weightloss suggestions that I read here. I know it all already. Make better choices. Its up to me. Start exercising. Yeah yeah. I wouldn't have ever needed the lapband if it were that easy. Sorry for sounding so negative. I'm just really bummed today about this. Thanks letting me vent.
  2. Seriously, I know what I need to do but I’ve lost my umph. Maybe it’s the holidays but I just can’t seem to get back into my groove of low carb, controlled eating. I know I’m eating too much food and not the best choices and I can honestly say it’s having that addictive affect on me. That can’t stop eating, all day grazing, late night snacking. Old habits are tormenting me. I know if I could just get back on track that would go away for the most part but I’m in a rut. Haven’t lost anything in 3 months. Haven’t gained either though. Losing and gaining the same 3 lbs over and over again. Just needed to vent. I know I can do this. Just feeling disappointed in my self. Banded 3/2010 Revised to sleeve 4/2017 Total loss since pre op 38lbs [emoji22]
  3. I have finally decided after 5 mostly uneventful years with the band to have revision to sleeve. My band was done with Dr Fox through True Results. Now True Results is closed and they are referring to Dr Nicholson which I was going to make an appointment with but now I'm seen there was an indictment for sone reason so I'm not doing that. I had no problems with Dr Fox but his bedside manner left me feeling a bit judged. I need some recommendations in the DFW area please. ASAP!! I'm ready to get this done. I don't want to go to someone who is going to require me to do a bunch of pre opt counseling or dieting.

No weight loss weeks 5-9 post op

Mine has been very slow. For 4-6 weeks my weight seemed to be bouncing around. Then it started leveling out and I've been dropping but VERY slowly. I've only lost 30 lbs since my revision surgery on 4/14/17. But I'm glad at least it's moving. Don't give up. It will happen.
  5. Seriously, there's got to be one of these ridiculously expensive pretend candy bars they call protein bars that's actually tolerable. I can find one if there is. I've tried so many. I bought the Kirklands ones and at first I thought I could handle them but now ugh!!! They are so tough and dense you can hardly chew them and the taste is just gross. I don't understand this because at first I thought they were ok. Please tell me there's something better. I'm wondering if it's just me and my tastes changing. I've been drinking protein drinks for 6 years and now I can't stand those either. I've got to find something I can do to supplement my protein. Tried the unflavored and don't like it either. It has a taste to me. What's wrong with me?
  6. I've seen that but have been afraid to invest the money for fear I'd hate it.
  7. I understand. My experience too. I guess I just figured if you were in fact able to eat the proper foods it would be successful. All in all I'm SO glad I have revised to the sleeve. [emoji16]
  8. So are unable to lose any weight with it? I agree with you that it doesn't necessarily without issue. I just meant you can actually lose weight with it if you are able to stick to the dieting rules. I also had trouble eating lean meat a lot of times as well as a lot of vegetables. So I resorted to sliders which kept me from losing. I guess I should've worded that differently. [emoji6]
  9. That's great! I hope you have a good experience.
  10. That is what I did. Im SO relieved! No more sleepless nights!
  11. Sounds familiar. Is having it removed an option? I cannot express how much better I feel just getting it out.
  12. True and I'd love to do that but unfortunately I can't seem to hold enough food to get the protein count up. I find myself short at the end of the day if I don't have big shot of 20 or 30 g in a shake or bar.
  13. I am going on 3 weeks out. It already seems like many weeks have passed. My Dr gave me the go ahead to try some soft foods as long as everything keeps going so well. I'm ecstatic to be able to eat real food, to say the least! The only problem I'm having is not losing weight! Seriously, isn't that why I did this? What's wrong with my body? I'm wondering if I'm actually not taking in enough calories. I'm trying but unless I choose less healthy foods I can't get past 5-800 calories, which is where my dr to me to shoot. I've been diligently logging every single bite and I've been following all the guidelines. I'm ahead of schedule on what kinds of foods to eat but still I am not loosing. I've only lost 11 lbs since well before surgery. Most of which was the first week after surgery. I have my coffee every morning, either an egg or a protein shake. For lunch I have a tuna packet, or a cup of soup, or something like that. I might have a snack of a protein bar, or shake (which repulses me at this point), or strawberries or cheese. For dinner I might repeat what I had for lunch or have a few bites of meat if there is any of that for dinner and maybe some soft veggies. Seriously I don't know where I'm going wrong. No I don't exercise but I'm a very active person and on my feet all day. I don't drink 64 oz but usually half of more. I'd like add more calories to see if that helps it don't know how to do that without eating unhealthy things.

    Pain near old port site

Me too same story. April 14, 2017
  15. It is lower carb and higher protein but still not much compared to a protein shake or bar.
  16. Yes I do have those things but sometimes I need something I can grab and go and also sometimes by the end of the day I've only had 30-40 gm of protein and need to kick it up there but I'm not really hungry.
  17. Thanks. I have upped my protein which upped my calories slightly. I've lost 3 more pounds. I guess I'm just going to be a slow loser. I'm ok with that as long as I'm losing.
  18. My band only work so so for me. Then after several years it slipped. I actually felt it move. It was very weird. Gained almost all my weight back. Had to make sure I knew where the bathroom was in every restaurant. After the slip I had to literally sleep sitting up to keep from having violent coughing spells in my sleep. I got no sleep for the last 3 months before my revision. Since revision I sleep beautifully. Have not thrown up or gotten stuck once. I can eat so many things I couldn't eat before. Well really anything. And I'm losing weight again. Even within about two weeks of having the revision I was amazed at how much better I felt just having the band out. Now with all that said, let me just say, the slip was my fault for over eating and eating the wrong foods. So was the problems after the slip for the most part. So if you will stick rigidly to the diet plan that your dr gives you, you shouldn't have the problems. The band will work if you don't break the rules. It's just got its issues you will learn to deal with. I always felt that if nothing else it prevent me from just getting bigger and bigger for the 6 years I had it. Best wishes to you! Be strong. You can do it. Just do what they say and you'll be fine.
  19. Did any of you get sent home with Levinox Injections to give yourself after a band to sleeve or just sleeve? I really am apprehensive about doing this and don't see the need in it but husband is not happy about my decision to forego the injections.

    Levinox injections

Thank you all. I need up only doing one shot. In retrospect I wish I hadn't made such a big deal about it but the time I needed them has now past. Fortunately I did not develop a clot.

    Post op vitamins advise

My Dr recommended any multivitamin that's chewable or dissolvable. I use Nature Made Vitamelts. Got them of Amazon for about 6.00. They taste good. They more in them than some I looked at. I also found a dissolvable Biotin at Costco. It's good too.
  22. This is ridiculous and unexplainable to me and I'm ready to just cry. I've been absolutely perfect following my Dr's order post op, with one very small exception of a cup of ice cream last Sunday when the family went out to dinner and I had no menu choices. I list about 5lbs the first 5 days. Since then basically nothing. What is going on??!!! I'm logging everything that touches my lips on the Baritastic app and I can assure you my calorie average is in the 500 range, I'm getting my protein and then some, I'm getting most of my water. My carb count is a bit high simply because most of the things I've been allowed to eat are higher in carbs than say meat or eggs. Like protein shakes, yogurt, cream soups, etc. but still not outrageous. With calories 5-700. And carbs below 100 what the heck???? Seriously this morning I'd gained 1/2 lb! I'm so upset. What's wrong with me?? Had my follow up yesterday and the said he'd hope for a few more lbs but ok. Everything else looked fine. I just really thought I'd see some weight coming off. When's it going to start?
  23. Just an update. Just today I lost a whopping half pound. This is SO frustrating....

I'm so sorry you'll be alone. Don't you have a friend who would go with you?
