    Internal stomach swelling?

I will be 3 weeks out this Friday and I feel the same way as you. I have started my mushies and have felt full after just a small amount. I notice that I feel that way for a good 2-3 hours, When I do get hungry the hunger I feel after isn't so bad that I can't wait for the next meal. I just hope it stays that way!
  2. Well truthfully a day early but I had my first soft meal tonight! (If I had any more Soup I would have exploded LOL) I had some grilled haddock, a spoonful of mashed sweet potatoe, and 3 small mashed brussell sprouts. Here are my questions: Is it normal to feel a little weird in the stomach when you are first trying new foods (kinda like you feel it going in). So far everything seems to have gone down okay...but if there was going to be an issue...how soon would I know? On the upside (without a fill yet), I actually feel full after 1/2 cup!

    Any february bandsters out there?

Hi Everyone! I was banded on 2/25 in Hagerstown, MD. I am down 13 pounds since surgery. the first week was hard emotionally, but it has gotten better. I am still on full liquids, but am counting down the few days left until mushies (yeah!). I do some excercise (walk away the pounds DVDor if its nice out I just walk). All in all I am feeling good. My next appt (my first fill is 4/7). Glad to hear everyone is doing so well!
  4. We were banded on the same day...and I so know what you are going through. I have tried to be creative with the soups and foods that I buy. I even found a butternut squash soup that was low in fat and calories and although not everyones taste it was a welcome change! You can also check the organics aisle. I also checked out the baby food aisle and found some yogurt blends with fruit (no chunks..It was kinda like stage1 baby food with a yogurt taste). I got the banana and that really was nice. I know this is tough, but think of long term benefits and goals. I do have to say I have the day I can start mushies on my calendar and have even planned my dinner for that night.....grilled fish and sweet potatoe.....

    Sleep Help....

I was lucky and did not have to much discomfort laying on my sides, but when I did I used pillows to help cussion and support the side I was laying on. I had even thought about getting a body pillow, but didn't end up needing it.
  6. I am almost 2 weeks post-op and I have to say I miss diet soda, steak and donuts! Isn't that a meal combination LOL!
  7. Well I'm not sure there is one, but I thought I'd like to start one. This is an area that scares me (especially being new to this). I would like to have a comprehensive list of resturant dining. I don't want to avoid going out, but thought if there was a list of common places to eat and foods that people had good luck with. Ok I realize everbody is different (and we could end up with a whole menu LOL), but its a starting place. So if anyone is willing to contribute either post or pm me Thanks

Please tell me it gets better...

I was banded 3 days before you and Yes Yes Yes I felt the same way...I even ended up taking 2 extra days of from work. I think it's a lot to process. For the most part I am feeling better. I am even exercising (walking) some. I still have ups and downs and times when I am just plain warn out. That being said, when I do have energy it is at a higher level than I have seen in ages! Hang in there it's going to get better!!!

    Oh the Horror!

Thanks for all the replies!!! I honestly am happy with what I have done and look forward to a healthier lifestyle. I did do research before surgery to decide what was best for me. I even debated between the bi-pass and the band....and obviously decided on the band (my dad had bi-pass). I figure if I do what I am supposed to and take care of myself I should be fine. But Nervous Nelly always likes to get her say
  11. Well I am a normally anxious person anyway...especially when it comes to health issues. So I knew that I would find some horror stories and issues that come from the banding. So how do you all deal with them. Do you think they come up more than the percentage I was told? I have had my surgery (8 days ago) and have done well so far and am pleased. But its hard to read about things like band slippage, more surgeries, band failure, not knowing how long the band will last in a body, and not worry. I have even heard horror stories about fills. I focus on the positives which of course thereseems to be more of...but man sometimes its hard!

    Could this be Gallbladder?

Just and FYI I was surprised when my nurses told me it was a common occurance after lapband surgery.

    LEFT SHOULDER PAIN

I have an answer as to why it happens...Basically the gas has now where to escape and some makes its way up verses down. i have also heard that sonce internal organs do not have nerves (we don't hear ouch my liver hurts) your body will signal pain somewhere else. A good example of this is a Heart Attack...where is the pain ...normally in the arm and shoulder. So with things being manipulated inside your body they hurt too. I was told that it's your diaphram protesting being disturbed. I had jokingly asked my doctor to make sure he "Burped" me before he sewed me up. He got a good chuckle.

    Grandpa Frumpy

Too cute. When my dad had his surgery my son who was 5 at the time and hadn't seen my dad for a while after the surgery went up and hugged him and said "your not my fat papa any more' I was horrified, but my dad took it all in stride and asked "well who am I?" My son instantly replied "your my skinny papa" to which my dad is known to this day 5 years later.

Dear office snacks, we have to break up

OMG this made me crack up!! Pre-op I wanted to hold a funeral for my old eating ways and favorite foods...thinking it would be good to mourn their loss. People looked at me funny. Maybe I should have tried the break-up route. I do have to say going in the break room has been difficult, but not as bad as I thought. I actually joined in lunch today (my lovely protein pudding..Yum), while they had normal meals. I did notice that my nose has become a lot more sensitive...I thouroughly enjoyed smelling all the delicious stuff in there. (torture) lol
