  1.    down in the dumps reacted to a post in a topic: How much time off work
  2. Everyone is different; but I had my operation on a Friday morning (3/18/2011) and was back to work Monday morning; I work in an office (have to climb stairs) and worked 10 hours that day with no problems-and have not missed a day since. For me I think the key was walking. The hospital where I had my operation makes you stay over night- and they have you walk as soon as possible after surgery. I had heard that walking helps break-up the gas from surgery-so every time I woke up that night I walked and the next morning before coming home I walked all over the halls. I had no gas pain and felt great-only ever took a tylenol for pain. Just listen to your body. Hope this helps. :-)
  3. Hi Kellyanne! It is going to be fine! My surgery was 3/18/11. My surgery was 8.30am and I was walking around the halls at the hospital by 11am. I felt some restriction/fullness the first week, but have never "felt" the band, actually the opposite right now-where I sometimes wonder if the thing is even in there, had my first fill Monday, still not feeling any differently yet, and am trying to be patient. The first few days there was quite a bit of swelling in my abdomin, and the biggest incision-where the port is was tender when going from sitting to standing, but I can't feel the port anymore either. Hope this helps ease your mind a little, realx it will be great and totally worth it! Best wishes for a wonderful experience and speedy recovery tomorrow!!
  4. I was banded 3/18, only felt a tiny bit of restriction the first few days after the op, other than that-same as you feel as though there is nothing there, have had no problems, which I am thankful for; however, I would like to feel that there is actually a band in there. I lost nine pounds this month, on the positive side doc says that I did that all on my own since there was nothing in the band at that point. I did get my first fill Monday, still not feeling any difference, my next fill appt is 5/3-so i am hoping to notice a diff. after that. Its comforting to know that I am not the only one feeling this way.
  5. Thanks everyone for the insight! I think that I have a pretty high pain tolerance-was up and around and able to go home the day after for both of my c-sections; and this seems much less invasive. So I am hoping to make it in; at least for a little while on Monday~atleast that is my happy thought for now; I'll let you know how it goes.

  9. Happy St. Patty's Day!! I am getting my band tomorrow morning at 8am~ so I am hoping that my surgeon is not a big St. Patty's day partier! My plan has been to return to work Monday morning, when I mentioned this to one of the nurses on the phone she seemed to think I was crazy! The surgeon said that it was possible, but up to me; although they reccommed a week. I have a desk job with no heavy lifting or bending. What have your experiences been?? How soon did you return to work, or feel up to it?? Thanks!!

  13. I am still getting used to navigating this site~so far I love that everyone on here is so positive, although this my first post; I have read a few forums and am really encouraged by reading your experiences. I am meeting with the surgeon tomorrow~and if all goes well should have an operation date within the next few weeks! Really excited and a little nervous; although I know this is the right thing for me to do.
