    I WAS APPROVED!!!!!!

Well I hope to be having my surgery fairly soon. I will probably wait until around the beginning of July though. we may be moving in June and I wouldn't want to have just had surgery and trying to move too. best of luck to you though and congrats... Jim
  2. I have told several people about my plans to have surgery and everyone has been very supportive...I guess they don't want to piss off a guy that weighs 340 lbs and stands 6'2" tall. :noidea:
  3. After working delivering ice for the Kentucky Oaks and Derby I stepped on the scale this morning and found that I've lost 9 lbs since I started looking at WLS. I guess the higher protein lower carbs thing is working a little.

  4. well yesterday was a very good day. I had my EGD and it went of without a hitch. I don't remember a thing (just the way I like it). I went home ate a little and went to bed. I slept until 4:00 in the afternoon. When I came down stairs, I was checking the mail and I got a letter from the insurance saying that I have been approved for surgery. Yeah...I'm thinking the first part of July I will have surgery.

    My horrifying EGD

My EGD is tomorrow...I hope mine goes better than yours...no offense. <IMG class=bbc_emoticon alt= src="http://cdn.verticalsleevetalk.com/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif">
  8. I have a facebook question...After I get sleeved, should I unlike pages like Krispy Kream Donuts and Qdoba?

  9. I heard another story of a slipped band this week. turned out to be a good thing because of the pain she was having with the band caused them to look closer and they found cancer in her kidney. But still, yet another complication from the band story. Is it me or does the list keep growing and growing?

    Insurance approved!!

I got a date for my EGD today. Does that count. Congrats on the surgery date, I can't wait to get mine. I'm jealous
  11. Consider the percentages...at 20 lbs you have lost more than 10% of your body weight. If I were to lose 20 lbs it would only be less than 6% of my body weight. :nonod:
  12. I never thought I would say this...but I am thankful that I had a Nissin Fundoplication. If I had not had that surgery in 2000, I would be still looking at getting the lapband. After all I have seen from people getting band to sleeve revisions, I'm glad I'm going straight to the sleeve. I've even converted my wife to the sleeve...can you believe that the doctor won't even give me a twofer discount...

  13. That is my understanding too. They also have another dr that is joining the practice
  14. you know it... :peep: so you are having your's done at baptist now too? When did that happen?
  15. My wife and I are having ours done by Drs Weiss and Oldham at Baptist East in Louisville. They travel around KY quite a bit. We don't have a date yet, my intake appointment is tomorrow.
  16. My wife and I went to a WLS Seminar last night. The doctor and the insurance manager both said that we were some of the most informed patients they have had at a seminar. We were able to ask and get answers to many questions that have been inspired by the concerns and experiences from the good folks on this site. Thank you for being so open in your comments and topics. We are much more comfortable moving forward than we would have been with out you. YOU ROCK!!! :clap2: :hurray:

    Thank you

awsome...Congrats. we are going to do the one at a time. she wanted to go first but I got my intake appointment first, so we will see. she put her packet in last night. I sent mine in by email and got a call for the intake the next day. she hasn't heard from them today so I guess email is faster when it is the only one they get. They probably got 7 or 8 last night. yeah like I said above, Dr Oldham really made her feel more comfortable with the sleeve. We talk to Catherine, the insurance manager, and she said she would recommend the sleeve for both of us. she wasn't a big fan of the band.

    Thank you

We will be going with Dr Oldham. Dr Oflaska only does the band. we are both going with the sleeve. there was a lady there that had a band and was going to have a revision to the sleeve.
  19. I sent an email to the insurance coordinator at Bluegrass Bariatrics this week. I go on Tuesday for my intake appointment and I didn't want to spend the $250 if I had no chance of getting approved. There was another person who works @ my company with the same insurance that just got approved. I was pretty encouraged by that. I'm feeling pretty good about my chances. Wish me luck.

    Question for MEN ONLY!

I'm an unzip and over the fence kind of guy, myself. I think it's funny when a guy goes in the stall to take a leak. It's not like anyone is going to be size checking you bud. else they'd be like this guy... :hail: lol
