Halloween (Oct. 31) - What will you Weigh?
Funny how getting the workouts in makes things move. I have managed to get to the gym 2 days in a row and have lost more than three pounds. I like it. Makes for a good start to my Halloween goal. 263.2 this morning. 245 is the goal. that will put me with in 25 lbs of my doctors goal in less than 4 months. They said it may take up to 18 months for me to get there. I'm a little ahead of schedule, I think.

I think Dr Oldham is the main doctor in Louisville and Hardin Co. Dr Weiss operates in the other locations. so if you come to Louisville you will probably get Dr Oldham. Which isn't bad. I've never met Dr Weiss but Dr Oldham is awsome.

Anyone have or had surgery at Georgetown, Ky
My doctor mentioned someone leaving at our last support group meeting and that Bluegrass Bariatrics was going to be doing surgeries there from now on. I had my surgery in Louisville but the surgeons are great.

My wife and I are doing this together. It certainly helps for us to know what each other is going through and for us to share in the experience.

Considering LapBand? READ this first...
Wow. I feel like I dodged a bullet by not being able to have the band. So happy with my sleeve. I'm also glad my wife got the sleeve instead of the band like she originally wanted.

Ok...I guess I'll update too... I start on some regular foods this week. I tried chicken and Pasta (nom nom, is that how it goes Heather?) Chicken got stuck the first time and came back up. I hate that feeling. I was experiencing the same thing back in 2000 and that is what led me to have the stomach surgery I did back then and ultimately to have the sleeve instead of the band. Funny how things work out. Weight loss has slowed down drastically, but I should still be able to hit my goal for labor day. I'm down a total of 65 lbs as of this morning. I went to the Dr for my one month labs and I had only lost 6 lbs since my last visit. I was kinda disappointed with that. I have gone from wearing a XXXL shirt and a 46 pants to this morning wearing an XL shirt and 40 pants. I am still a little dumbfounded by that.

I'll show you mine... (LBD's)

Labor Day - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???
Well my weight loss has slowed a great deal. I have only lost 8 lbs since my original post. That means I have 12 to go and only 4 weeks to go. I am still struggling to figure out how to eat now that I can eat some things. Oh well I'm still going to try to hit the goal. And the gym. Wish me luck

The transformation has begun
well I can hardly let you two have all the fun. I bought a new belt that I could barely buckle before surgery knowing that I would fit into it just fine in a couple of weeks. yesterday I wore it on the third hole all day and wasn't in the least uncomfortable. I was ordering a pull over as a fundraiser for my kids high school football team and I ordered an XL not a XXXL. I actually tried one on and I got it on, it was tight but I got it on. That's enough for now...I don't want to highjack your thread too much. Congrats to both of you fircrackers. Can't wait to hear about all of the changes to come.

Did I miss something?
trust your doctors office. this is what they do.they are there to help you get approved. If this is when they think you can get approved, then roll with it.

Kentucky welcome
My sleeve is doing great...as of today I am down a total of 51 lbs. I do have a hernia that I am going to have surgery on next week, I think. but that should not give me too much trouble. Thanks for asking.

Kentucky welcome
Welcome...I probably don't get on here as much as I should anymore but I'm glad to see more people from KY joining the group, especially those who have not been sleeved yet. It certainly does make it more exciting.

I'm not really new
I've been on here for a while now and post occasionally. But I thought I'd share what was going on since surgery. I was sleeved on July 11th (go Firecrackers) and have been recovering fairly well with everything relating to my new stomach. But I had a umbilical hernia before surgery and it has been the topic of discussion on several occasions between me and my surgeon. We had decided to not repair it during my VSG, unless I had intestine or something in it, and I was fine with that. Well after surgery my hernia got very irritated and inflamed. As it turns out, it is more painful than any other incision I have. Well, anyway, I went to my 1 week post-op appointment and they direct admitted me back in the hospital to do a CAT scan and tests to make sure I didn't have any strangulated anything in the hernia, because it was still painful, swollen and irritated 1 week later and the skin was red around my belly button. I sat in the hospital for two days, being monitored and tested on. My surgeon wants to repair the hernia sooner rather than later now and I will go back in for surgery next week sometime. But other than that...I feel fine.

Soooo encouraged!
I have had quite a bit of pain, but it's not from my incisions or my sleeve. I had an umbilicle hurnia before surgery and the Dr checked it out to make sure there wasn't any intestine twisted or anything. Well the good news was that he discovered that the hernia was just fat tissue and most of it would go down on it's own. But what he left me with was a very sore and bruised bellybutton. It hurts more than any incision that I have. I will be a week out tomorrow and it is just now starting to turn purple. I guess that means it won't be long before it goes away, but I don't like that it was there in the first place. Other than that my recovery is going great. Depending on what he says about the hurnia thing tomorrow, I will probably go back to work the following Monday.
-
what does this sound like to you?
That is the incision that hurts the most for me too. but mine is tolerable. my wife tells everyone that I have a high pain threshold. I guess I do. I don't know but it just doesn't hurt bad enough for me to complain about it. What was the most painful for me was when they removed the drain. that was not pleasant at all. :tsk:

Got My Sleeve
Congrats...I got mine yesterday. I didn't have a whole lot of pain and I was able to get some of my lunch down so they sent me home. It is nice to be home.
