  1. Im an RN and went back to work after 2 weeks and Im doing great(banded 1/31), but my doc makes us have a 10# lifting restriction for 6 weeks post band. As a fellow nurse, you might have a hard time with clinicals not being able to lift...Maybe talk to your instructor and see if they're willing to work with you. Good luck on your band journey and in school. Tough road but worth it in the end!
  2. I am down 80lbs in about 3 1/2 months with no fills. I actually had to have unfills due to being to tight. I have no Fluid in the band at this point and still have restrictions. I hope it continues to work for me. Good luck on your journey. 80lbs in 3.5 months! WOW! Is that safe?!

    BANDED THIS MONDAY

Sometimes i feel like i just want to sit down and eat a steak and potato dinner. But honestly I think im obsessing about food. This week Im starting full liquids and its really nice to eat food with a little more substance. That being said, very little fills you up. I felt like i was hungry the first week and i couldnt wait for it to be over but now that it is, im feeling better. I think Im feeling better simply because I know I can have something more than clears. Im sure its all in my head. Good luck to you...when were you banded?

    restrictions after surgery

ya that seems fast for even soft foods. my doc requires a week of clears, then a week of full liquids, then soft foods. but like someone already said, theyre all different. Hope youre feeling better
  5. I went to pre-op and was weighed, had to undress (everything) and wear a paper Bear-hugger gown (that blows warm air on you if needed) vitals taken, iv started. Then read my book for about 45 minutes. Then my doc and anesthesia came to talk to me and then about 10 minutes later the OR nurse and anesthesiologist came to wheel me in. I got some versed (a benzodiazapine) and was amazed at how fast it started working. I was out for the count before I even made it to the OR. I felt bad they had to move my big butt over to the OR table, lol. The next thing I know im waking up asking my doc if my liver was shrunken enough(yah! it was!) I was slightly nauseated coming out of anesthesia and i had a really sore throat but other than that, I was up walking around, went pee, and got a leg, foot, and hand massage and then was sent home. I was in the hospital from 8am-3pm. Not too shabby

    BANDED THIS MONDAY

I was banded on Monday. I have had all of the same feelings as you. I am still on clear liquids, but have had a few creamy liquids today for the first time. It felt so good to eat something other than broth and Jello and gatorade. Im not sure what to tell people either. I too am scared about loose skin and saggy boobs. I went to the store today for a baby shower gift and the store is located right next to McDonalds and Sizzler. OMG it was pure torture the smells that were coming out of there! I just want some REAL food. I feel like Im obsessing about food and I stare longingly at my husbands plate of food....wow this is really hard. I lost about 28 lbs pre-op, but I still have about 85 to go. I have to go to a baby shower tomorrow and then a superbowl party and I am dreading all of the delicious food that is sure to be there. I dread the "why aren't you eating" questions. I might try to bow out of the superbowl party for that reason...I can hardly stand to see my household eat real food...not sure how Im gonna do in public. I have found that chewing gum really does help a lot. Anyways, best of luck to you...Just wanted to let you know that youre not the only one feeling this way!
