    App. Suppressant VS. Lap Band

I got my lapband March 2011. Since then, I have also taken Phentermine. I LOVE that the band teaches you to eat smaller and allows you to feel fuller longer. Once you get the proper fill, it is AMAZING! The reason I began taking Phentermine was because I wanted faster results. I plan to go off of it in a couple more months and rely only on my band. My advice for you would be to not rely only on "diet" pills. Once the pills are gone, so is the strength to eat small. With the band, it is a lifestyle change; a tool that helps you succeed. HOWEVER, the lapband is NOT magic. Just because you get it, does not mean you are going to lose weight. You have to eat smarter and participate in exercise. I think Phentermine is a good way to boost initial weight loss as long as you are able to maintain when the pills no longer work. I do not regret my lapband and would do it again in a heartbeat. BTW: I got my band in Mexico and am self pay for all of my fills so I do understand the financial struggle if that is something you are experiencing.

    Aggresive first fill

Where did you get your band at? I had mine done with Dr. Corvala in Tijuana. I am trying to do research to see what my fill capacity is. I have a 10.0 CM band and from what I have seen online it is only a 4cc band? I already have 3 cc's in with NO restriction...?
  4. I think everyone cheats when they are super hungry. I know that when I give in and eat something that I shouldnt, I feel terrible afterwards. I have been thinking about diet pills from a weight loss clinic as well. I have not lost anything in over a month and I have been eating well and working out everyday. It gets to the point where it is plain depressing. And my husband will tell me that I look great but we did not pay for the band for me to only lose half of my weight. I feel like I need to work harder but I dont know what else I could do besides simply starve.

not loosing weight in 2nd month

I lost all of my weight in the first few weeks. The second month has been a killer for me. I work out and eat well but nothing is coming off. It is very frustrating. I have had one fill and can feel the restriction. I think I will be scheduling a second fill very soon. But if I eat any less I might be starving?

avg. weight loss after the band

Every person who gets banded has a different journey. I was small for getting the band, so my weight loss has been slow. I was banded on March 22, 2011 at a BMI of 32. I wanted to lose a total of 50-60 pds. I am 4 weeks post op and have a lost a total of 17 pds. It is a daily choice to eat good foods (which I do not always do) and I can tell the next morning when I step on the scale and have either stayed the same or gained a pound. I have been working out many days a week and the slow loss can be frustrating. I am ready for a fill!! I have found that fills are EXPENSIVE. I was banded in Mexico so finding someone to do the fill can be challenging..
  7. I am in the process of finalizing for my lap band procedure in Tijuana Mexico. I got on here to see peoples opinions of the operation and am getting a little nervous. I have chosen Dr. Lopez Corvala, does anyone have any advice?
