  1. When I was only two days post-op I was ravenous!! I began the liquid diet, and still STARVING. I added some pureed foods, still starving. It's been two weeks since my surgery and I've added soft foods. I feel like I can eat too much food. I chew slowly and until all the food is applesauce consistency, but I feel like I should only be able to eat a bout a half a cup to one cup of food and feel full. I can eat more. It really scares me that I can eat that much. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
  2. Do you eat Beans? They are FILLING and are pretty high in protein. They may help. 600-700 doesn't sound like enough. Best wishes!
  3. There is some great advice here. Thanks to those who didn't make those of us in the same boat as Sweetsue feel like failures. This is a journey and as we all know you can go on the same trip and gain very different experiences from the journey. Banding is NO different! I actually want to be able to eat the crap of pizza, Pasta, muffins, egg rolls and sandwiches, even though I'm banded. Certianly, I don't want to eat them in the quantity that I ate them prior to banding, but I want to have a few bites on occasion. That's a goal I'm working toward having a healthy balance with food. For others going cold turkey and never touching them is their idea of a healthy relationship with food. I would NEVER judge the for their choice. Yes, we need to learn self control. Yes, it's going to be a struggle. Yes, we need a swift kick in the butt of reality, at times. Yes, we need someone to hold our hand and say "hang in there, you can do this, give it time." So, with all the advice you've/we (in the same boat) can glean the swift kicks, the cheering on and keep going. I'd love to keep in touch. Blessings, ~A~
  4. HungryMel, I am right where you are. My band was done on Feb.7th. and I am starving. I actually had to add substanial food earlier than I thought. Funny thing is the first thing I tried was tuna. Let's stay in touch and encourage one another along, the ups, the downs and all the things inbetween. Do you like Beans? I find that bean Soups fill me. I puree them, sometimes I add a bit of cheese and sour cream. I also eat hummus. I found little two ounce cups and they are perfect! If you don't like beans try pureeing chicken/turkey/tuna. Hang in there. No matter what there is a learning curve. No two journeys are the same. THis is A JOURNEY!! ~A~
  5. Thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I appreciate you responding.
  6. I was nervous about the surgery its self, and life after surgery. I kept thinking- Can I use this tool the way it's intended? Will I succeed or fail? There are a hundred other questions, some tied to emotions some tied to reality, still rattling around in my head. This coming Monday it will be two weeks since I had surgery. I'm still at the "will I succeed?" phase. I agree with Dreamer09 about counceling and understanding what place food has in your life. I'm going to counceling. Also, measure what your definition of success is. Lose weight? Stop eating large portions? Stop relying on food as an emotional crutch? How much weight loss would mean you were successful? Rank your list, honestly, from 1- whatever. Revisit that list on a daily basis and add to it. Rewrite it as you change. There are many people on this site to support you/us. Blessings, ~A~
  7. Such GREAT advice here. I copied it and pasted it into a word document to keep in my food file so I can read it OVER, and OVER, and OVER again!!
  8. You just reminded me that someone once said there are days she can't eat much of anything, and other days when she can tolerate a lot. I just remember that when you made your comment. I too haven't felt like I had any restrictions the last two days, but who knows...tomorrow might be different. I'm glad you got over your fear of posting this thread. It helped me and I feel better!
  9. I don't have an appointment for an adjustment yet. It will be four more weeks before I can get an adjustment. I am chewing my protein too much. I'm really not supposed to be on solids, but I figured if I chewed them to applesauce consistency then I'd be okay. Thanks for help. I feel better.
  10. Thank you! Great advice. I actually am eating solid protiens to fill me. I do eat them first, but I think I may be chewing too much, like you mentioned, because I know I should be on semi soft foods. My first fill is four weeks away. I'll keep hanging on until then. Thanks for taking the time to help.
  11. I'm right there with you! So glad to know I'm not the only one.
  12. THanks, you comment helped me feel better!!
  13. So GLAD I'm not the only one! I can eat normally and I am so discouraged by it. I just pulled out my post-op diet and decided to go back to square one for two days of clear and day 3-9 of liquids and so on... I wasn't told, like itsjoyjoy, that this might happen. I too am beginning to think what did I do wrong and how could have failed two weeks into this. Whew..what a relief, great advice and great tips. Thanks for asking Renee1003

    February 2011 Bandsters?

My surgery is scheduled for February 7th. I'm nervously excited! My pre-op testing and approvals all went more smoothly than I expected. The only glitch was with my Dr. having to cancel my initial appointment due to him having to do emergency surgery.
