  1. 24 hours later..... Still awesome! Slept through the night with no worries!
  2. My period has been irregular since I was a teenager. I could go 3 months without, or I could have it for 3 months + straight through, and very heavy also. Then again I have been overweight forever. I just started using the Instead menstrual cup yesterday (you can get it at Walgreens) and it has already changed my life. I change it ever 12 hours and no leaking, no messes and it's way more comfortable. WHY I haven't heard of this sooner is crazy to me. I've had my period now since december 5th, but now I barely even notice it. This alone has changed my life. I can't wait til surgery! Hope this helps!
  3. I'm going on vacation in 3 days to florida. So it better work!! LOL, it's been in about 8 hours, no leaking, no pain, I really can't even feel it. It's AWESOME! Just this morning I was leaking and changing my stuff every 2 hours. I forgot for a while today that I even had my period! The Instead cups I bought at Walgreens. They didn't have any other brands or the reusable kinds. It's a 14 pack and they were right near the Pads in the store. I have a reusable one coming in the mail next week, so I'll make sure to let you guys know how that works. I really wish I knew about this sooner!
  4. I'm in the same boat. I don't ovulate, even with clomid/provera. I tried that 3 times. I had hysterosalpingogram which said my fallopian tubes are good. They think I have PCOS. My periods are heavy and last for months. Today I have just started the Instead menstrual cup. I put it in around 11 am and no leaking or discomfort. It is supposed to be good for up to 12 hours. I'll change it before bed. They make reusable ones too, so I ordered one. I tell you, the past few days I had been doubling up on pads and tampons and leaking all the time, every hour or two having to change it. Today, I barely can tell I'm having my period.
  5. Your pictures are amazing. You look like you're 15 years younger! Like a whole new person!
  6. It's disappointing because it's only recently that the sleeve has been becoming popular and recognized as a valuable weight loss tool. my insurance just started covering them in september so I am lucky. But early bandsters were not. my surgeon says he really prefers the sleeve because he has to do so many revisions with the band, and then the band has 15% likelihood of needing another surgery.
  7. Ok, so far this is great! It's 5 hours in and no leaking! I'm having a really heavy period these past few days where I was doubling up with pads and tampons and changing them a lot! Waking up 3 times a night because I'm afraid I'm leaking! All I can say is WOW!
  8. Thanks for giving me hope that I may get pregnant after weightloss!
  9. I'm trying out the Instead cup today. Supposed to last up to 12 hours with no leaking. The reviews are pretty good. These are disposable ones. I just ordered a Lunette reusable one which seemed to have better ratings. Has anyone else ever tried these? I'm going on a vacation next week and my period is really heavy, so I'm hoping this helps!!!
  10. I have a tendency to fly off the handle when people criticize me or if I don't feel I'm being respected or taken seriously. My husband had major concerns about safety, and at first I would kinda freak out of him. Then we went to a counselor to talk about it. We pretty much have come to the point that I definitely need surgery to help me, and I must accept that my hubby is scared and nervous for me. He also realizes this is my decision and knows that I have researched it properly, and he has also spoken with my surgeon about his concerns. That really helped him. And me. I'm no longer contemplating death or divorce. Life is good.
  11. Can't do anything about the waiting. I hated that part. I called my doctor's office everyday to check because I was afraid they forgot about me. lol
  12. Awesome! I love these kind of posts!
  13. Yeah, I don't buy corn or carrots anymore. I buy the steamable bags of mixed veggies and salad kits. Sooper expensive though.
  14. I'd consider metformin if I wasn't already going through the surgery process. I've got such an irregular and heavy period, the last two days I'm in the bathroom almost every hour. Trying a menstrual cup today, I just read about them last night. The one I have is disposable, and can last up to 12 hours. So far so good. I am looking into getting a reusuable one. I can't wait until my surgery in a couple weeks. It feels like I'm going through a rebirthing process where I will have a totally different life. I am very excited!
  15. My doctor has had me on southbeach diet since october. It was very hard during the holidays and since january it has gotten alot easier. I have protein shakes (EAS chocolate and milk) since I don't eat alot of meat, and it tastes like a snack to me. 23g of protein and 3g of carbs. then I just try to find a few simple things I really like and eat those primarily. maybe every once in a while I need a cheat, but then I do, and it's back to normal right away. I made my own stir frys (no rice of course), and sometimes have some fresh fruit, which after not having them for months was like heaven. soups are also really good, and filling. it's plain old torture, but it will get better soon!
  16. Thanks for replying everyone! I am also looking forward to see how it will work after surgery. I've been following a somewhat strict low carb diet to lose my 5% before the surgery, so I feel that this will help. My doctor and I also thought it wouldn't be worth the risk to go on birth control until after surgery at very least. I haven't been on them in 7 years, so I'd like to not have to go back on them.
  17. I'm so glad I saved all of my cute clothes from when I was smaller. I have about 10 totes of them hogging up a spare bedroom. I definitely planned on getting back into them. I can't wait!
  18. Most pain medications can cause major heartburn if not taken with plenty of water and some food. Especially for medications like lortab, aleve, and motrin. Taking these medications and sitting up for at least half hour, along with water and a few bites of food will prevent the burning.
  19. Over the last couple years, my period has gotten super irregular. Just told I probably had PCOS and is the reason why we haven't been able to get pregnant these past few years. My periods are very heavy, unpredictable, and I have bled at times for 2-6 months at a time. My doctor said that really the only treatment is losing weight. I'm getting sleeved march 22. I just want to hear from any others who also have PCOS. Has it gotten better? Have you gotten pregnant?
  20. Yay! I went in this morning, and couldn't sleep that much. My total weight loss so far is 10+ pounds. My surgery is march 22! I am hoping to get my preop testing done this week. I meet with my primary next week. I have arranged all my work days so it works out. I'm beyond excited right now!!!!
  21. I went to my seminar last september, did my psych consult, blood and urine testing done, letter of intent to the doctor in, my primary doctor sent a letter in, met with NP last november, met with surgeon in january. I hadn't lost my 5% yet, so he sent me on my way and rescheduled for tomorrow. I tweaked my diet so I was focusing on protein more, increasing my exercise alot and have kept an immaculate journal including the times of the day when I was eating and making sure I had protein every time I ate. My scale shows that I barely lost anything. I am soooo afraid that he won't do anything for me since I haven't lost the 5% yet. Today I'm basically just drinking a couple protein shakes and vegetables and will do a little magnesium citrate tonight (can't hurt, right?). I'm praying so hard that he can still help me. My diet will show I've done everything he's asked. I'm just a wreck.
  22. I like EAS chocolate protein powder, I add it to milk and it's pretty good. I look forward to it, even. 34 grams of protein, only 3 grams of carbs. you can get it at Rite Aid if you are in a hurry and don't want to order online or go to GNC.
  23. my doctor does it like this too. the doctors make you do so much and they have everything documented, so to speed things up for them and you, they file for approval while you are already scheduled. efficient is how I look at it.
  24. oooh yeah, my husband is also worried about going out to dinner and the future and how "awkward" that will be. oh please, it won't be awkward at all. It will be great. you get something small, and if necessary take it home. dinner time should be a time to reconnect with your family anyway.
  25. You should be fine, I'm 5'7" and 330ish. I hate not having much room arm wise. When I fly with my husband, I infringe on his space a little and just try to be cuddly! lol once I was on a small jet and I had to sit separate from my husband. I was on the wall side, with a raise in the floor so my legs were up to my belly, and the guy next to me was bigger than me, and kinda creepy. very uncomforable. If I was flying and money wasn't an issue, I'd totally ask for a good seat (near emergency exits) for better knee room, and get 2. then you could spread out a little
