I personally went to visit Dr. Almanza (I live in San DIego) who I like very much and I plan to have my surgery with him in few months (not scheduled yet). I too am considering plication but Dr. Almanza really is in favor of gastric sleeve and after hearing him I am now considering the sleeve over plication. Dr. Almanza told me that his patients have had greater results over the long term including himself and his wife. Do your homework on plication vs sleeve, or ask Dr. Almanza. Please keep us up-to-date.

Since I live in San Diego I took the time and visited with Dr. Almanza as part of my research. I was very impressed with his manners and friendliness. Just be sure you want the lap-band because he really pushes the gastric sleeve overt the lap-band. I don't believe he does this out of greed ($500 difference) he just believes it's better, and really the statistics agree with him. In the end he says he will do what ever the patient wants. You certainly will be going to a good doctor. Hope all goes well. Marc

Who was your doctor? I know Dr. Kuri operates out of Angeles Hospital but charges $6500. 5K sounds a lot better. Hope all is well.
