    Just Me

  2. Good Evening all, long time no updates. I'm down 50lbs now and hoping to keep dropping the weight. I've been busy working and trying to avoid being everyone's health consultant. I can only really relate to my fellow bandsters that are on the same journey as me. Keep up the good work everyone.

  5. Good Morning all. I get my third fill today. I'm feeling great and still losing weight. I'm down 41.6 lbs today...YAY!!! Another 8.4 and I'm down 50. My toe is feeling better, so I will try to workout this evening. Keep up the good work everyone!

  6. Good Evening all. I had my second fill on 6/10 and I'm down (37.4 lbs)....Yay. Now for the bad news, I fell the next day and broke my toe ;-(. I just got some cute sandals and now I can't wear them for at least a month. I'll be sitting poolside until I'm all better. Keep up the good work and ladies be careful in those platform wedges sandals...so cute, but dangerous..LOL

  7. Good Morning all. I'm on track to be down another 2-3lbs this week. Not having any problems since my first fill. I'm trying to stay active these days and mix up my workout. I played tennis yesterday and it was fun, so that may be my summer sport of choice. The key is to watch what you eat and keep movin. I would like to take dance lessons like DWTS, it's working well for Kirstie. Have a great day everyone!!

  8. Good Morning All. Ok my 1st fill was not bad at all, it was over before it started....Never say the needle and I have 6 cc's in my band now. My doctor put in 3 during surgery. I'm not down (31.6lbs). My small appetite is smaller now. I can no longer wear clothes at the big girl store...bye, bye Ashley Stewart. Keep up the good work everybody!!

  9. Good Evening All. I'm 5 weeks post op today and (-27.8lbs). I could actually be down 30lbs next week. My clothes are sagging and all of my friends are ready to go shopping...Yay. I get my first fill on 5/9. It's really happening....Losing=Winning!!!!

  10. Today is 1 month post op, (-24lbs) and I'm feeling great. My doctor says I have to wait 6 weeks before I can work-out, so I'm waiting patiently....not. Keep up the good work everyone.

  11. Good Evening All. Ok, I have been coming home from work and getting in the bed from exhaustion. I racing home to go to sleep for 2 hours before I can function...lol. Also, people are beginning to comment on my weight loss (-23). Stay motivated everyone.

  12. Good Evening All. I can't believe it's almost 3 weeks post op. I go back to work tomorrow and I'm a little nervous. I'm packing my food to avoid a bad food choice. I hope everyone is still motivated and adjusting to life with the band. Talk to you all soon.

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Hi Doodle.1, I know were not suppose to overfill our pouches to prevent stretching/slipping. I find it interesting that you are not feeling anything after eating or drinking. I feel pressure after I eat or drink a certain amount to let me know when to stop. I have been sipping my liquid, but I still feel pressure after a certain amount. I think if you drink more frequently you'll be less likely to gulp the Water. Make sure you talk to your doctor about the quantity you can handle.
  14. Good Morning All. I made it thru my first day on puree foods. I had corned beef and potatoes, so delicious. I only had like 4 oz per meal (2) and I felt really good. I'm going to see what else I can puree today. I guess I got all worked up over nothing, this is going to be so great. Have a good day everyone :-)!!!

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

I had corned beef today, which I thought was a great moist meat. I was online looking up receipes and stumbled across this meat. I was able to puree the corned beef with some potatoes.....duh corned been hash. I have been craving this meal since 3/17/11. My mom was so sweet to cook a brisket just for me. It was worth the wait. I quess I could have just purchased a can and added Water to puree. I measured the portions to 4oz. to avoid overeating. My doctor told me to puree whatever I wanted to eat from the 3-4 week menu and just add a little water to liquify the food. I hope this helps you with meal ideas.

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Hi Khaki, I was banded on 3/29/11. I had a hernia removed/repaired too with the same amount of sutures. My port is to the left and my mid section is still swollen. I took measurements of my waist when I started the pre-op diet and my waist is 1 inch wider. I have lost 20lbs, so maybe I have more weight loss coming after the swelling goes away. I've actually been able to intake about 3/4 cups on the liquid diet in 3 or 4 small meals. I just went to mushy/puree food today and I could only handle 1/2 cup of food or 4 oz. I ate that at 1-1:30 and I'm just starting to feel hungry now. I have never chewed a meal that slow in my life, but I felt satisfied. I had a bad dream last night dreading solid foods because I can not get sick. LOL. I took my time and it was fine...thank goodness. I guess everyone's tolerance and capacity will be a little different, but one thing is for certain we are all taking in much less than before surgery.
  17. Good Evening All. I had my staples removed today and will start puree foods tomorrow. Now the challenge begins, all liquids was so much easier. Wish me luck.

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Hi Awinner, so glad to hear from you today. I think you have the right attitude to keep the long term goal in mind here. I had a problem with trapped gas in my shoulders that I thought would never end, but it did. Keep in touch with your doctor, so they can respond quickly to any of the problems you are having. I might be weird, but I actually like the liquid diet options. I think I'm more fearful of the puree/solid food. Starting puree food tomorrow....I hope I don't get sick. That will be my version of "Fear Factor". Keep up the good work everyone, I'm down 20lbs since pre-op diet began and surgery 3/29/11.

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Hi, I was banded on 3/29/11. I told only 4 people that I was having surgery due to my current position. I have multiple overlapping team projects and I wanted the leadership team to know the deal. Other than that it's not up for discussion with my other colleagues. The people at my company love to eat, bring in food, go out to eat and plan the next reason to eat....LOL. I don't want to turn into the team project to monitor how much weight I've lost. That's not support to me. I'm a private person and don't like everyone all up in my business. The weight loss will be obvious once I reach my goal, so I'll just let them wonder how I did it. Ms G
  20. Good Evening All. Day 5 post op, the trapped gas is finally gone. I downed 2 packs of Tums yesterday and relief was mine. LOL, Gas-x was not getting the job done. I also weighed myself and I'm down 20lbs (2 weeks pre-op/5days post). I go to the doctor tomorrow to have the staples removed. I couldn't be happier with my progress thus far. Talk to you all later.

  21. Good Morning everyone. Day 3 post op, the trapped gas is starting to ease up in my left shoulder. I have been using a heating pad and I think it's working. My incisions look good and the mild bruising is going away. I may be ready to step away from the medications tomorrow. Talk to you all later.

  22. Hi everyone, it's day 2 post op. I'm still experiencing the trapped gas in my shoulders, which seems to increase after I lay down. I'm sipping slow and walking every other hour or so. I'm not having much success with watching movies...they are watching me sleep...lol. I feel stronger today and no other problems to report. Talk to you all soon.

    March 2011 Bandsters

Good Morning March Bandsters. I was banded yesterday and I feel pretty good so far. The surgery went well and I have a little gas to report, which I'm taking chewable gas-x. The pain is under control with the aide of some fantastic medication that I plan on taking every 4-8 hours until the bottle runs out. Not big on pain, so no need to chance my pain threshold right now...lol. I was experiencing the trapped gas in my shoulders last night and started to swell around my incisions. I'm up early this morning feeling much better. I walked alot yesterday and couldn't sleep, but I slept for about 6 hours last. My shoulders feel much better and the swelling went down. I'm staying at my moms until about Saturday, so maybe it's just being in a different bed. I had two glasses of Water, 3/4 cup of Soup and 1 cup of Protein shake yesterday after surgery. I'm sipping everything very slowly and really wasn't hungery. I felt weak, so I forced the little bit in to avoid passing out. I'm happy, excited, a little anxious, but ready to take control of my weight and live a healthier lifestyle. My heart goes out to everyone experiencing any difficulty post surgery (Awinner) in particular. I read your post on my way to surgery and prayed that your doctor would be able to help. I hope you feel better soon. Talk to everyone later, back to sleep for me.
  25. It's official I'm Banded!!!. The surgery went great. I have a little gas and virtually no appetite, but I'm forcing soup and a protein shake down slowly. It still doesn't seem real, but I'm on my way now. The medication has been great and I'm chewing gas-x to help with the gas. I'm starting to swell and I have some bruising, but I bruise easily anyway. My mom and sister are still drinking shakes with me for support. They have been great. The res...
