    March 2011 Bandsters

Hi Everyone....sorry i have been missing, i have been going through some things personally anyway, i just had my 1st adjustment ....it was a little strange, i layed in the chair and the doctor felt around for my port...he found it and told me to get in a sit up position, stuck the needle in and pulled the plunger out and then injected 1/2 of the fluid and asked me to take a drink of water and count how many seconds it took to drain, he then put in a little more saline and then pulled it out...Doctor then made me drink 3 large slips of water to make sure nothing got stuck & i feel so dang full...i feel like i have eaten an entire thanks giving dinner!!!!! I am so excited because i have only maintained my 22 pound weight loss the last 2 weeks, i was worried that i wouldnt be successful w/ the band but i agree w/ others that have said after the adjustment its a whole nother ball game!! LOVE IT!
  3. Well, we made it 2 weeks & 1 day. How are you doing?

  4. The shoulder pain is gone for the most part. I find if i chew gum, it starts to hurt again. Weird, huh?

I didnt start feeling good till yesterday....9 days post op... I finally stopped having pain in my shoulder and my port incision only hurts when i use my stomach muscles...Like opening a heavy door and lifting in and out of bed ( i have a really tall bed)
  8. I'm feeling much better, still in some pain, but the Vicodin is helping with that. Just hoping that this works for me, and I see significant weight loss this year. Good luck in your efforts, lets keep each other motivated! ttyl

  9. Hey, i saw your post about your shoulder pain. I am right there with you. I had Surgery the same day as you and the shoulder pain is the worst.

My Doc said it was because of the hernia repair and to give it more time to heal. I'm hoping he's right. I would feel perfect if the pain didn't come out of nowhere and make my shoulder hurt.

Good Luck and lets keep in touch. li...

    LEFT SHOULDER PAIN

I also am struggling w/ left shoulder pain....My doctor also repaired My Hiatal Hernia but didnt give me any special diet instructions (other than Clear liquids for 2 weeks) What are the "special instructions" you were given if any...do you know how long this is supposed to last?

sorry you are struggling CJ Have you ever had surgery before? Maybe you just dont do well with surgery in general.... I was banded on March 8th and tonight is my first night back to work, my only complaint is that i am still having a lot of pain in my left shoulder...I type a lot at work and its killing me..Against my doctors advice i lifted my 35 pound son to put him to bed...it was only for a short distance but i totally did it out of habbit and forgot since all my pain had pretty much gone away...now im having a little more pain at the port incision

thank you so much Marcy for the info, i feel much better! My dr also sews part of the stomach to secure the band, I tolerated the soup just fine...the only complaint that i have is that when i eat the broccoli cheese soup, the pain in my shoulder magnifies...I have not taken pain meds all day today because im trying to prepare myself for what it is going to be like tomorrow at work...I have taken the advice of the other girls about walking appox 10 mins every hour to two hours and the pain is still the same if not worse, it feels like it has gone from the top of my shoulder to now the outer of my uppper left arm...its really making me nervous because i read that some people were claiming it can mean nerve damage??!

hmm....thats weird..i wonder why some doctors want clear liquids for 2 weeks and others want it for a shorter period of time...I have already lost 10 pounds in addition to the 1st 9 i lost pre op...so im at 19 pounds...I dont want to do anything to mess up or stretch out my band.....i just feel so guilty!
