  1. Gosh, maybe egg drop Soup with wet crackers? That's tough. I had my surgery last Tues, Dec. 21. I'm in this weird stage where I really need my Protein drinks. I can't wait for mush soft stage. They aren't letting me have any soft mushy until January 3. So, I'm feeling a little envious that you are on the soft mushy stage. What about a baked potato at Wendy's with something like skim milk mixed with it? I know it's late at night here in Colorado, but I felt so bad for you I had to post this late. I feel deprived a little too.
  2. I had my friend pick up some whey protein powder flavorless at Vitamin Cottage. I will check on the brand but it has a purple lid and I think it's 20 on protein.
  3. I'm one week post op also. I am just taking it easy. I did some laundry and bending. Went back to my preschool and worked a few hours on Monday. But, I felt kind of weak and dizzy. Called my doctor and went to see physician's assistant today. She told me that it is still a major surgery and the body needs to heal. Take it easy and walk, not heavy lifting of any kind. Be so careful. I pushed it too much, didn't stay up on my pain meds and I'm kind of paying for it this week.
  4. I'm pretty excited to start mushy soft foods on January 3. I'm nervous about what it will feel like. Will I know that I am full? I need some great ideas. Grits sound kind of good. My guidelines say liquids for two weeks, so I'm starting to feel like a vampire...for food.
  5. Brave you are. I was banded the same day. It was somewhat difficult to watch everyone eat Christmas dinner, but in my heart I know this is what needs to be done and I feel ok with it. I am also excited to start more substance to this liquid diet. Next week, I am looking forward to soft mushy. Any ideas?
  6. My first time on this forum tonight. I was moved up to an earlier surgery or I would have been banded Jan. 4. I really had no time to "grieve", I know this sounds funny, but I had crazy emotions about everything. Guilt for the cost (insurance covered most), not being able to enjoy Christmas dinner (lived through it just fine), and the loss of knowing there are certain foods that will no longer be in my life. I weighed 266 last week, down to 257, still on liquid and realize that this will be a slow process. I'm like you, I want my life back that I used to have. I have the same fears, but I know we just have to follow the diet precisely and look at the big picture. I think more than anything I need support too. I just ordered a pizza for my family two hours ago. I can't go upstairs so this is why I'm here. I'm not ready to watch others eat now. Have faith in yourself, I will try to do the same.
  7. I was denied by my insurance in July. The hoop I had to jump through was a six month supervised diet by my family doctor, not any other company...just doctor. She put me on a diabetic diet. I weighed in every single month, and made an effort to excercise. I lost a total of seven pounds from July to December doing the yo yo. Right before my surgery, my bariatric center had my doctor send the files which showed documentation of honest effort on both doctor and patient side. This was submitted and approved just before the six month mark. I was supposed to have surgery August 3, my surgery was last week Dec. 21.
  8. You are going to do great. I had all these fears and concerns. And they quickly faded away as I was explained everything in the surgery prep area. Didn't know I was even put under. It was fast and recovery was great. Not as scared...so don't put the energy into that stuff. Good luck, I am excited for you. Serendipitybaby
  9. I was banded at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21. I was in recovery from 1:00-9:00 p.m. My oxygen levels would not stay up to 95. I was outpatient and was sent home on oxygen for three days. I loved my surgeon, nurses, and anesthesiologist. They took great care of me. However, I thought I would be up and around feeling great by today. Not so much happening on that. I run a child care center as a Director, so I stay busy. But even today, I had no energy. I'm following the liquids diet to the tee. I'm just concerned because I still feel light headed when I do some walking. I'm realizing I need to take it easy even for a second week. Any advice? Also, I'm still taking percocet at night and halfway through day when I come home. Still can't knock the stomach pain. Serendipitybaby
