I must take a serious moment to express to everyone on this forum... I too was embarrased. I cannot tell you what it took for me to post on this thread.. EVEN THOUGH IT'S FOR US SUPER SIZED PEOPLE.. to say I'm so fat I can't wipe my own A$$. To me this is one of the lowest of the lows.. we are talking hygene folks.. and no matter how hard I tried I COULD NOT DO THIS. If I was at home.. no biggie.. jump in the shower with a hand held and I'm good to go. I have cried over this more times than I can say. How can I be SO addicted to food that I let it prevent me from practicing simple generic every day functions that we all probably take for granted. Thank you thank you thank you for getting past your embarassement and making such a HUGE difference in my life... for real. I hope that I too, am speaking out for others in my predicament that won't have to post the same. I'm not one you would look at and think.. man, she stinks, or man she's so fat she can't reach her arse. I am a very smell concious person and always have been. I was grinning this a.m. when I walked out of the work bathroom... all because of YOU:sleep :hug:

I have to say that I bleed about 48 smackers on eBay yesterday for a tool designed for just that. It's angled AND has a clamp.... Thanks to someone on this thread who recommended it. I never thought about it but there is quite a market out there for it with 'little people' and elderly and us overweight sore lower back folks. 30 pounds ago I never would have thought about something like that or the need of something like that. This also makes me feel better about after surgery if I have to go to the potty.. I TOTALLY didin't want DH to have to take care of me even though he swore he would. T

I don't know what Ds OR RNY stands for actually. I've seen RNY referred to several time. thanks T

Needless to say, I am completely devistated. I am not only out the $500 I have spent so far, but more importantly, struggling to think of ways to get the 15K for the surgery. I am seeking your advice! Anyone have something like this happen to them? Was it worth the time and energy to fight the insurance company? I was told by my doctor that fighting an "exclusion" was more with your employer, and I can only imagine what that would be like. but for the house my favorite is cats. I have furkids and water kids. Two beautiful brown tabby girls Buffy and Zena and a 110 gallon tank full of Tetras and one big beautiful Angel. Used to have a hamster.. love him but their little life spans are to short and I said never again.

In my opinion.. since you are already going in the a.m. I would wait unless you take a change for the worse. If you didn't have an appointment tomorrow a.m. I would say YES go. Just my 2 cents

All of you are SO WONDERFUL! I just ordered one on eBay. I think this will be helpful right after surger too so I dont' have to twist. I have a couple of bulging disk in my lower back and having to twist and turn to do normal hygene stuff is ROUGH>

Today I came armed with slim fast to use in between meals and tons of Spring greens/lean ham/one slice provolone/ and other of my fav salad fixins... cranberries, flax seed, blueberries and some sunflower seeds. I will be chowing down for lunch.. I brought so much of the spring greens that I may even eat some for breakfast.. hard to beat a really good salad. I'm trying to get a handle on myself again, mentally something happened when I finally made the decision to get the procedure... I'll call it 'emergency eating'. OMG.. I may never get to eat this again.. OR this.. or this.. or this.. or that over there... And OMG I won't be able to eat this quantity ever again so I must eat the 12 oz steak.. not just 7 oz.. I mean.... So basically, this thinking has found me at 335. Now I must take control again and behave and eat good things like I KNOW I should. Food is my addiction and I've let it rage out of control. sigh.. baby steps.

I'll get a salad out of the vend... well... they didn't HAVE any salad in the vend so Naturally a good replacement is a roast beef sandwhich and a bag of chips ... what? Oh.. it wasn't? Hmmm I stood there in front of the vend forever deciding..:decision:. so after that I was ok the rest of the afternoon except about 2ish I go REALLY :bored REALLY:notagree sleepy. Drank some coffee :ranger: and I'll just tell ya now.. it didn't help. 4 is time to go home so on the way I stop at the tanning place (In my opinion my fat looks better the darker it is...) Anywho.. I get home thinking.. I'll do another slim fast and be good... again I say PSSHHH:guess I ate the rest of my venison stew. now it's after 6 and i can't have ANYTHING else. Just knowing I can't have anything else.. makes me want to eat everything in the house... but I digress....:der: sigh I am hopeless.

It's funny I came across this post today. My husband and I were just discussing if we would be able to get credit for this on our taxes. He seems to think since we don't own a house or have kids, it won't be enough to get credit for it because it has to be a certain amount but that we would save all medical receipts anyway. If I end up having to self pay it will be 16.5K here in Nashville Tn.

I just LOVE this thread. My BMI is somewhere between a 51-54. got my 1st denial and am now appealing. DH has decided that we are going to go ahead and self pay in the mean time. He is so sweet. We bought some of those self heating sticky pads for my lower back and I told him great just put them over there.. I can't use them unless you are here. With a surprised look he said "What? Why not" so I demonstrated how my arms will not go back that far... good lord if it didn't make him tear up. he knows I struggle but I keep most of it to myself. It really got to him. He wants to go for it asap. I'm a little frustrated now though.. I can't get the surgeon's office to contact me back about self pay. ARGH. Also, since I'm ong the super-sized bandster site I have a taboo subject if you will. am I the only one out there that has to contort and snap my back in half to wipe my bum? it's TERRIBLE. Any suggestions? sigh:cry

Can someone out there tell me that has self paid, but kept fighting the insurance and won.. how that works? do you get reimbursed? I got my 1st denial and we are now in the 1st appeal process. My DH is telling me that if in a week or two that haven't approved it he wants us to go ahead and self pay... keep fighting the insurance and get reimbursed. Is there anyone out there that has done this? How do they reimburse you? Does the insurance company pay you or the hosiptal???
